Description

SPECIFICATION
A COOLING DEVICE WITH ILLUMINATED DOOR TECHNICAL FIELD
The present invention relates to cooling devices with a heat insulated front door which can be opened and closed.
KNOWN STATE OF THE ART
Cooler front doors comprise an inner liner facing a cabinet which the front door covers; and an outer case which encircles the inner liner so as to have a distance in between. An expandable insulation material fills between the inner liner and the outer case, and front door with heat insulation is obtained.
In general, the front door outer surface is painted with a static color like white or black color by means of electrostatic powder paint. In general, when cooling devices are seated into a cavity, the part seen by the user is the outer case's outer surface forming the outer part of the front door. In order to obtain a different pattern, in the patent application US2004/0183413, an external decorating member is disclosed comprising a multi-layer paint application on the cooling device surface. Accordingly, the external decorating member comprises a glass member; a first paint layer having reflecting materials for reflecting light which passed through the glass member; and a second paint layer having a certain color. The light reflecting materials on the second paint layer are partially left uncovered for instance in ornament structure; and an aesthetic appearance is obtained. At the same time, the reflection of the outer ambiance light on the door makes the door to be seen in an easier manner. However, in cases where the outer ambiance light is not sufficient, the desired affect can not be obtained.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
The object of the invention is to illuminate the cooling device front door in an efficient manner. Another object of the invention is to provide the changing of the cooling device door color in an easy manner. In order to realize the abovementioned objects, the present invention is a cooling device comprising a front door having an insulation layer between an inner liner and an outer case. In a preferred embodiment of the present invention, a reflective layer is provided on the outer case and at least one illumination device disposed on the reflective layer and being configured so that a light beam of the illumination device is directed outwardly from the front reflective layer. The light beam reflecting outwardly from the outer case illuminates the front door from outside.
In a preferred embodiment of the present invention, reflector member comprises at least one hole to accommodate the illumination device. In this case, the illumination device can be fixed by the reflector member.
In a preferred embodiment of the present invention, the reflective layer comprises a bended portion at a vicinity of edge of the outer case at which the hole is disposed. The bended portion increases the illumination device's light beam amount directed towards the reflector member.
In a preferred embodiment of the present invention, a transparent panel is attached on the reflective layer allows the light beam at least partly pass through. The transparent panel protects the reflective surface and the illumination device from the external influences and at the same time, it can allow the passing through of the light beam coming from the reflective surface.
In a preferred embodiment of the present invention, the transparent panel is essentially made of glass. In this case, both light transparency and the desired resistance can be provided. In a probable application, the glass is tempered glass.
In a preferred embodiment of the present invention, the reflective layer comprises a metal sheet. Metal sheet provides high resistance, and at the same time, it forms a reflective surface by means of the outer face thereof. In a preferred embodiment of the present invention, the reflective layer is extending throughout the outer case. Thus, the light reflected from the reflective layer illuminates whole of the front door.
In a preferred embodiment of the present invention, the illumination device comprises a LED. LED provides low energy consumption and at the same time, it provides an effective light intensity. In a preferred embodiment of the present invention, the illumination device is disposed at a vicinity of the outer edge of the reflective layer. In this case, the illumination device provides indirect illumination using the reflective layer and the illumination device can be hidden. In a preferred embodiment of the present invention, illumination device is aligned towards an opposite edge of the reflective layer. Thus, the area of the light beams arriving on the reflective surface increases.

THE DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
In Figure 1 , the frontal view of a cooling device (10), which has a freezer at the bottom and which has two doors, comprising a door with a representative embodiment of the subject matter illumination device is given. The cooling device (10) has a front door (12) which closes a heat insulated cabinet (16), illustrated in Figure 2, in an openable manner. The front door (12) comprises an outer case (19) and an inner liner (18) facing the cabinet (16) and an insulation layer (17) provided between said outer case (19) and said inner liner (18). Moreover, a frame (14) encircles the inner liner (18) and the outer case (19) so as to join them. The outer case (19) comprises a panel with an outer surface forming a reflective layer (20). The reflective layer (20) extends along the frame (14) edges in a planar manner. Hole (24) is formed at the vicinity of the corner parts of the reflective layer (20). Moreover, a display hole (25) is provided at the vicinity of the transverse middle part of the reflective layer (20). A transparent member (30) forms the outer wall of the outer frame (19). The transparent member (30) is in the form of a panel. The transparent member (30) seats onto the reflective layer (20) in an overlapping manner. The transparent member (30) is formed of a glass member. In Figure 3, a reflective layer (20) is illustrated. The reflective layer (20) is bended so as to form a flange (27) along the lateral edges thereof. In Figure 4, the corner part of the reflective layer (20) is illustrated in a zoomed manner. By means of the S like cross sectional form, a bended portion (29) is obtained. The bended portion (29) advances inwardly in the direction of the inner liner (18) from the reflective layer (20). The illumination device (40) is accommodated in the corresponding holes (24) opened on the bended portion (29) one after the other. The bended portion (29) is formed on the mutual edges of the reflective layer (20). Thus, the illumination devices (40) are mutually facing each other. Since the bended portion (29) is formed at a right angle, when viewed from the front side, the light sources (42) of the illumination device (40) can not be viewed.
In Figure 5, a top schematic view of the reflective layer (20) comprising the bended portion (29) is given. The reflective layer (20) in panel form which covers the insulation layer (17) is covered by the transparent panel (30). The reflective layer (20) and the transparent panel (30) overlap along the flange (27). The light beam (50) exiting from the illumination device (40) is distributed onto the reflective layer (20). The light source (42) of the illumination device (40) comprises LED lights which can have any predetermined color. These lights are together for instance as red, green and blue LEDs. By means of a control member (not illustrated in the figure) placed into the display hole (25), the light source (42) can be adjusted to any desired color. Thus, the light beam (50) which exits from the illumination device (40) and which has the desired color is reflected by the reflective layer (20) to the outer environment, and the light beam (50) provides the color of the front door (12) to be changed. Each light source (42) can have a different color so as to be compliant with the parameters of the cooling device (10) with the help of software. For instance, according to the temperature of the cooler and/or freezer and/or according to the fullness ratio of the cooler or the freezer, blue color or red color can be used or the other adjusted colors can be used.
