Due to this, the positioning of the suction lance inside the canister is different every time a canister is used. Further, using known suction lances in order to empty the canister so that it is free of residue, a residual amount of substance always remains in the canister. For the disposal of canisters that are filled with dangerous or harmful substance for example it is desirable to reduce the amount of substance that is left in the canister to a minimum. Moreover, an unintended contact of a person handling the emptied canister with the substance is to be avoided in order to reduce health risks .
