MASSAGE APPARATUS FOR HUMAN OR ANIMAL BODY

The present invention relates to a human body or animal massage apparatus of a living subject to be treated, said apparatus comprising, firstly, a hollow body to be supported on the skin by suction means and in the second place, supporting elements to act by localized compression on the deep layers of the skin to be treated.

Many patents have already proposed similar massagers to that of the present invention. The massage apparatus disclosed in the prior art mainly use suction means for creating a vacuum in a suction chamber, the skin and sucked engaging support elements which, in a direction substantially orthogonal to the skin to be treated, are fixed with respect to the suction direction.

In the Swiss patent 168279, it is stated that the apparatus comprises a hollow body in which there is a member which exerts a mechanical action on the part of the skin, which is subjected to the vacuum, that was created by suction and prevailing in said hollow body; said member may be an integral protrusion of the hollow body or a roller the axis of which is carried by the hollow body or a membrane bearing reliefs; and in all cases, compression of the skin on the bearing member is solely generated by the vacuum in the suction chamber. Since the vacuum which can be subjected without causing skin lesions is necessarily of limited importance, it follows that the compression of the skin in contact areas with the supporting member, is also necessarily limited , so that it can act with such a device on the deep layers of the skin nor on tissues or underlying muscle areas.

The same disadvantage is presented by the devices described in the two patent applications O2010 / 095855 and WO2010 / 095856, in the French patent application 2,785,177, in the Russian patent 2128491, in the patent application US 2007/0027411 and in style German utility 20 2007 016179U1.

Finally, in the French patent 1,501,054 there is provided a device of simple construction having a plurality of suction chambers separated from each other by parallel bars therebetween; nothing is proposed to have an effect on the deeper layers of the skin, the only support members being the bars separating the different rooms intake and use of the device being performed by hand by applying a "moderate" pressure on the body part to be massaged; the device must be moved over the skin to be treated to produce a ripple of the epidermis, which implies slippage of the device on the skin and it is also indicated that the massaging portion is coated with a lubricant to facilitate this shift. The devices described in this patent 1,800,644 possible to produce massages continuous pressure that is to say, they use a significant compressive force on certain localized parts of the patient's body to be treated, which can produce beneficial effects on the deep tissues of the body. In general, such devices do not generate significant pain because compression is carried out gradually so that the skin to be treated is not suddenly subjected to a large force; in addition, the pressure head is not moved relative to the skin as the pressure is applied, which avoids any pain associated with friction on the skin. The result is an ability to treat the deeper layers of the skin and underlying tissues without causing unbearable pain for the subject to be treated.

The Applicant has now found that massage of a living subject can be done by combining suction means with means generating significant localized compression on the skin of said subject. Following tests, the Applicant has observed, not only from his observations but also from the felt treated subject, that such a combination produces surprising effect; blood circulation is improved, the "orange peel" effects are mitigated, the underlying muscle tissues are stimulated where such relief in subjects suffering from myalgia.

The present invention therefore relates to a massage apparatus of a living subject to be treated, said apparatus comprising a hollow body defining an internal volume with a side wall and a connecting wall, said side wall extending between the connecting wall and a peripheral edge intended to be supported statically on a skin area of ​​the subject to be treated, said internal volume being connected to a suction system to form, by pressing the peripheral edge on the skin, at least one chamber suction capable of being depressed relative to the unit's environment, said hollow body comprising, in its internal volume, at least one own internal supporting element to act by pressing on the skin of the subject to be treated when the internal volume is connected to the reduced pressure treatment established by the vacuum system, characterized in that it further comprises at least one actuator for exerting m caniquement on the skin, by means of at least one inner supporting element of the hollow body, a force F applied to the (s) said (s) element (s) continuously support, variable or not at least some of the internal support elements and acting on the skin by a localized continuous compression.

For the purposes of this application, an actuator can exert the force F through any means, including as will be described below in the various implementation Exemplary by mechanical transmission of a force exerted by a operator or pneumatic action, but also by hydraulic means, electrical or magnetic.

The force F, which allows to apply a continuous localized compression on certain skin areas, is exerted by means of at least one actuator. It is the presence of this independent actuator of the vacuum system, which provides the particularly interesting results from the combination of two parts of the technical condition, namely that relating to the use of a system suction and that relating to the use of a force F applied by means of an actuator. In a preferred embodiment, such an actuator exerts a force F of a value independent of the pressure established by the suction system.

In a first variant, it is expected that the support elements are fixed inside the hollow body; preferably, the inner supporting elements include at least one projecting finger and / or at least one elongate projection, whose free end is at an adjustable distance of a regular continuous surface passing through the peripheral edge of the side wall .

Referring to Figures 1 to 6 show that the apparatus according to this first embodiment of the invention includes an actuator as disclosed in EP1800644; this actuator essentially comprises three parts:

The hollow body 10 also comprises, in its internal volume, the internal bearing elements, which are housed in the suction chamber 5 and consist of four projecting fingers 6 and four bosses form elongated 7. The outer face of the connecting wall 4 includes two ports: one is the outlet of the threaded bore 16 adapted to receive the threaded end of the half-shaft IIa of the pylon 11, the other corresponds to the outlet of the channel 13 to which is connected the suction pipe 14.

Complementarily, the hollow body of the apparatus which has just been described, may further comprise means (not shown) heating and / or cooling the skin of the subject to be treated, for example, a resistor heating or independent air circuit to the suction chamber for injecting hot air or cold air. The hot air stimulates blood circulation and perspiration, and facilitates the processing; alternating hot / cold air stimulates known way the immune system and thus improves the general welfare of the story. The movable plate 1045 is subjected to a reduced pressure P 2 on the side facing the ceiling 101 for causing movement of the fingers 6c to the skin 103. The suction chamber 5c is connected by a pipe 112 to a vacuum pump capable of establishing in the suction chamber 5c a pressure Pi lower than the ambient atmospheric pressure. According to another variant shown in Figure 17, there is provided a device for modulating the compression efforts with external supporting elements of the type described for Figure 16. In the case of Figure 17, the elements external support 117 similar to those 116 in Figure 16, are connected to a piston 118 disposed in an actuator body 19 where they slide; sliding takes place so airtight thanks to rods seal 120. The therapist, when using the apparatus of the invention, may establish a P 3 more or less pressure, it being understood that the force applied by the external supporting member 117 is limited to avoid that the chamber suction 5c no longer tight due to the lifting of the peripheral edge 2c. It should be noted that this type of embodiment may provide both a provision of the cylinder body 119 along the entire periphery of the suction chamber or provided only on portions of this periphery.

In one embodiment very simplified an apparatus of the type shown in Figure 15, could replace the pneumatic control due to the use of the pressure P 2 by a purely mechanical control of the movement of the projecting fingers. In this case, the portion of the projecting fingers remote from the skin would be threaded and a threaded knob, external to the hollow body 10, may, by simple rotation, move to the skin the corresponding finger to generate a localized compression continues.
