  • In the FIGS. 1 to 17 schematically a hospital or nursing bed 10 is shown as an embodiment of the invention, which can optionally be used as a chair or chair, wherein the pivotable back part of the mattress support device forms the backrest of the chair.
  • The bed 10 has a base 12 which is height adjustable. The base 12 is provided with four legs 14,16 (normally with lockable rollers) which are telescopically or otherwise adjustable in height and at their upper ends by connecting elements 18 (see also the FIGS. 5 and 6 ) are interconnected. The headboard-side legs 16 form the headboard-side end 17 of the undercarriage 12, while the Fußteilseitigen legs 14 define the Fußteilseitige end 15 of the undercarriage 12.
  • On the height-adjustable base 12, a bed frame 20 is mounted horizontally displaceable.   • In the bed frame 20 a (four-part) mattress support device 30 is arranged, which has a pivotable back part 32, a fixed seat part 34, a pivotable thigh part 36 and a movably arranged Lower leg part 38, wherein alternatively the thigh part and the seat part can also be combined to form a common adjustable seat part, as is the case with three-piece mattress support devices. The lower leg portion 38 is pivotally connected to the thigh portion 36 and is at pivoting of the thigh portion 36 (see the arrows 40,41 eg also in Fig. 13 ), wherein it is raised at its to the thigh part 36 facing (connecting) end and thus tilted. The pivotability of the back part 32 is in Fig. 1 indicated by the arrow 42 (see also FIGS. 14 to 17 ).
  • A special feature of the bed according to the FIGS. 1 to 17 is in the division of the bed frame 20 and the mattress support device 30 in the area of eg in the FIGS. 9 and 11 On each side of the sub level 44 of the bed frame 20 is now located on each side 26 of the bed frame 20 is a Kopfteilseitiger portion 26 a and a Fußteilseitiger portion 26 b.   • The aforementioned lateral displaceability of the footboard side bed frame part 20b makes it possible to divide the bed 10 and separate its foot end and thus to be able to use the bed 10 like a chair to get out of the bed 10 or onto the bed 10 sit. The back part 32 of the mattress support device 30 has two safety side parts 56.   • The FIGS. 9 to 13 illustrate in detail how the connection of both sides of the subdivision levels 44 and 45 are located parts of the bed 10 is realized. These first connection elements 70 extend through the openings 66 in the first guide profile elements 64. Thus, it is possible that upon pivoting of the thigh part 36 (see the arrow 40 in FIG Fig. 13 ) the lower leg part 38 is taken and thereby also pivoted.   • Also, the bed frame 20 is provided by the interaction of a guide profile element with a body guided therein, so that the foot end 23 of the bed 10 is laterally displaceable relative to the remaining part of the bed 10. For this purpose, the headboard-side bed frame part 20a at its end facing the bed frame part 20b two equally spaced second guide profile elements 72 each having a C-profile, in each of which a second cylindrical profile element 74, which articulation axes 74 'define, is guided displaceably (see, eg FIGS. 11 and 12 ). Each second guide profile element 72 has an opening 76 in its side wall through which extends a connecting element 78 which is connected to the bed frame part 20b.
  • Nevertheless, it is possible in the articulated connection between the thigh portion 36 and the lower leg portion 38 of the mattress support device 30 to move both parts laterally against each other until both parts 36,38 are separated, as for example in the FIGS. 7 and 8 is indicated.   • In the FIGS. 1 to 17 It can also be seen that the lower leg part 38 can be supported at its end facing the foot part 24 of the bed 10 via a sliding or roller element 80 on the sections 26b of the side parts 26 of the bed frame part 20b. In this case, this support takes place on the inner sides of the portions 26b of the bed frame 20. As a result, the lower leg portion 38 is guided on the bed frame 20, in particular when the foot end 23 is displaced laterally. Then namely the lower leg part 38 is automatically taken. The lower leg part 38 and the bed frame part 20b of the foot end 23 of the bed 10 can thus always move together together, even if the force required for the displacement is exerted only on one of these two parts. A scissors-type high-rise construction 82 (scissors support in the FIGS. 5 to 7 indicated) is arranged transversely to the longitudinal extent of the bed 10 between the bed frame part 20b and mattress support device part 30b. This horseman construction 82 ensures a shear-resistant connection of the lower leg part 38 with the foot part side bed frame part 20b.
  • The lateral displaceability of the foot end 23 of the bed 10 has been described above using a hinged connection of the parts 20a and 20b of the bed frame 20 and the lower leg and thigh parts 38,36 of the mattress cover 30, the profile elements and bearing elements on the bed frame part 20a or the thigh part 36 are arranged. They are connected to the base 12 and lie in guide channels 88 of the headboard-side sections 26a of the side parts 26. In the normal displacement position of the bed (see FIGS. 1 and 9 ), they are immersed in receiving channels 90 of the foot portion side portions 26b of the bed frame side members 26, while being moved out of the receiving channels 90 in the position of the bed for laterally displacing the foot end 23.
  • In addition, on the side parts 26 of the bed frame 20 there are still e.g. manually operated locking elements 92,93, which secure in the position of the bed for lateral displacement of the foot end 23 of this against unintentional lateral displacements and also act in the lateral shifting back of the foot end 23 as limit stops.
  • The following is again with reference to the FIGS. 1 to 13 will be discussed in more detail on the operation and operability of the bed 10.   • It should be mentioned at this point that the locking elements 92 and 93, the side portions 26 b of the bed frame 20 only from the outside. Thus, when one of the two locking elements 92,93 is unlocked, the foot end 23 of the bed 10 can be displaced laterally beyond the respective locking element, the other locking element still being in its locking position but not operative with respect to locking (see FIG Locking element 92 in the FIGS. 7 and 8 ). When lateral shifting back of the foot end 23 of the bed 10 then this locking element 92 serves as a stop and thus limits the displacement of the foot end 23. The position of the foot end 23 outside its center position according to the FIGS. 5 and 6 is detected by a detector 98. Once this detector 98 does not indicate the receipt of the central position of the foot end 23 of the bed 10, the adjustment of the undercarriage 12 is possible only up to a level slightly above the minimum height (a few centimeters), namely the bed converted into a chair to be able to lift to a comfortable seat height. The further height adjustment of the undercarriage 12 is prevented, since otherwise the foot 23 would no longer be supported by its legs 58 and thus tilt the raised bed at vertical loads on the foot 23 and in the worst case, the foot 23 of the bed could break off.     - that each connection element (65;65") comprises a first connection element section (62,64;67") mounted to the foot-end-side section (30b) of the mattress support structure (30), and a second connection element section (68,70;69") mounted to the head-side section (30a) of the mattress support structure (30), and
    - that both connection element sections (62,64;67";68,70;69") of each connection element (65;65") can be divided or coupled by displacement along a connection-element axis (68',74',73") extending transversely to the longitudinal extension of the bed, said axis being arranged on a connection element section (67") and having the other connection element section (69") held or guided thereon.
  2. The bed according to claim 1, characterized in that said at least two connection elements (65;65") are each designed as hinges and respectively joints having joint axes (68',74';73") extending substantially parallel to the subdivision planes (44,45) and transverse to the longitudinal displacement direction of the bed frame (20) and of the base (12), said hinges and respectively joints being adapted to be divided or coupled by displacement along their joint axes (68',74'; 73").
  3. The bed according to claim 2, characterized in that each of said joints comprises a substantially C-shaped profiled member (64,72) arranged on one of the two sections (20a,30b) of the mattress support structure (30), and a substantially cylindrical profiled member (68,74) received by the substantially C-shaped profiled member (64,72) and arranged on the other one of the two sections (30a,30b) of the mattress support structure (30) and being displaceably guided in the substantially C-shaped profiled member (64,72).
  4. The bed according to any one of claims 1 to 3, characterized in that the axis of the joint extends between the two sections (30a,30b) of the mattress support structure (30) above the side portions (26) of the bed frame (20).
  5. The bed according to any one of claims 2 to 4, characterized in that also the two sections (20a,20b) of the bed frame (20) are connected by at least two joints, each of said joints comprising a substantially C-shaped profiled member (72) arranged on one of the two sections (20a,20b) of the bed frame (20), and a substantially cylindrical profiled member (74) received by the substantially C-shaped profiled member (72), said substantially cylindrical profiled member being arranged on the other one of the two sections (20a,20b) of the bed frame (20) and having the substantially C-shaped profiled member (72) displaceably guided therein.
  6. The bed according to any one of claims 1 to 5, characterized in that the foot-end-side section (20b) of the bed frame (20) is adapted to be supported on a ground surface on which the base (12) can be positioned.
  7. The bed according to claim 6, characterized in that the foot-end-side section (20b) of the bed frame (20) is adapted to be supported on a ground surface on which the base (12) can be positioned, by at least three ground supports (58), particularly four ground supports (58).
  8. The bed according to any one of claims 1 to 7, characterized in that each connection element (65;65") has a design extension in the direction of lateral displacement of the respective sections (30a,30b, 20a,20b) of the mattress support structure (30) and optionally of the bed frame (20) which are connected by the connection element (65; 65"), and that the distance between two adjacent connection elements is larger than said design extension.
  9. The bed according to any one of claims 1 to 8, characterized in that the base (12) is height-adjustable between a minimum height and a maximum height and that the longitudinal displaceability of the bed frame (20) and the base (12) is allowed when the base (12) is located substantially at the minimum height, and/or the height adjustability of the base (12) is allowed in case of the first relative displacement position of the bed frame (20) and the base (12), and/or the height adjustability of the base (12) is allowed up to a height slightly above the minimum height in case of the second relative displacement position of the bed frame (20) and the base (12).
  10. The bed according to any one of claims 1 to 9, characterized in that, on each side portion (26) of the bed frame (20), between a foot-end-side and a head-end-side section (26b,26a) of the side portion (26), a stiffening element (86) is arranged which extends on both sides of the subdivision plane (45) of the bed frame (20) and is immersible or is immersed into the two sections (26a,26b) of each side portion (26) when the bed frame (20) and the base (12) assume a relative displacement position other than the second relative displacement position.
  11. The bed according to claim 10, characterized in that, in the second relative displacement position of the bed frame (20) and the base (12), the stiffening elements (86) can be manually actuated and thus are movable and lockable in a displacement position other than the second relative displacement position, or that each stiffening element (86) is arranged self-supporting relative to the base (12) and is automatically released from engagement with the two foot-end-side sections (26b) of the side portions (26) of the bed frame (20) when the bed frame (20) and the base (12) assume their second relative displacement position.
  12. The bed according to claim 10 or 11, characterized in that the stiffening elements (86) are respectively formed as bars (84), that, on both sections (26a,26b) of each side portion (26) of the head-end-side bed frame section (20a), a respective guiding channel (88) is arranged for guiding the respective bar (84) on the foot-end-side section (26b) of the side portion (26) and a receiving channel (90) is arranged for receiving said bar (84), and that, during the relative displacement of the bed frame (20) and the base (12), the bars (84) are located in the guiding and receiving channels (88,90), and, in the second relative displacement position, the bars are located outside the receiving channels (90).
  13. The bed according to any one of claims 1 to 12, characterized in that at least one locking element (92,93) is provided for selective mechanical locking of the foot- and head-end-side bed frame sections (20b,20a) so as to prevent undesired relative movement of the foot-end-side and head-end-side sections (20a,20b,30a,30b) of the bed frame (20) and the mattress support structure (30) when the bed frame (20) and the base (12) are arranged in the second relative displacement position.
  14. The bed according to any one of claims 1 to 13, characterized in that the base (12) is adapted to have its length adjusted relative to the bed frame (20) in the longitudinal direction of the base parallel to the side portions (26) of the bed frame (20).
  15. The bed according to claim 14, characterized in that the base (12) on its head-end-side end (17) is connected to the bed frame (20) while being secured against displacement relative to the bed frame (20), and on its foot-end-side end (15) is connected to the bed frame (20) for longitudinal displacement thereon.
