  • In principle, it would indeed be possible for the locking plate to be arranged with an outer section below the side wing, supporting it from below, and then displaced to the release position to release it, so that the outer area is then moved away from the area of the side wing, however in this way, only one of the two side wings can be unlocked.
  • To solve it could be provided here that two locking plates or area are used, which are interconnected via a coupling such that an actuation of the actuating means displaces one of the two locking plates or areas in one direction, while at the same time the other of the two Locking plates is displaced in the opposite direction. However, this requires a comparatively complex mechanism.
  • According to the invention, therefore, the locking plate on locking portions, which unlock both sides with a movement in one of the two directions. One way to realize this is that the locking plate the pivot bearings over which the two side wings are pivotally connected to the base support blocks.   • The locking plate is preferably displaced in all cases against the force of a return spring, so that it automatically recoils into the locking position when the actuating means is not operated further and at the same time the side wings are pivoted downwards. An automatic spring-back of the locking plate without prior pivoting of the side wings, however, would ensure that the side wings would indeed be temporarily unlocked, but would be locked again by the snap back of the locking plate after releasing the actuating means.   • Preferably, the locking plate is mounted on the base support such that it is displaceable in both directions.   • A preferred actuating means is e.g. a foot switch, which is able to displace an edge of the locking plate by pressing the foot switch with a displacement element laterally. A particularly simple embodiment of such a footswitch consists in a rocker, which has two laterally upstanding treads and is mounted centrally on the base support.   • Depending on the configuration of the displacement element and a reverse direction of movement can be realized, so that the locking plate is moved in the direction of the side on which the Tread pressure is exercised. Ultimately, this is irrelevant to the invention, it is essential that the actuator displaces the locking plate, so that the locking area, which is located in the range of movement of the side wings, is led out of this range of motion and so the pivotability of the side wings is possible.   • The locking plate can be moved linearly to release the side wings. Such a linear movement is particularly simple and easy to implement. Alternatively, the locking plate can also be rotated, wherein also in this case, the blocking area is displaced by the rotational movement to the extent that it is moved out of the pivot areas of the side wings.
  • A particular advantage of the locking plate is that it now not only blocks the joint, but with a blocking area is also able to support at one position the side wings, which is spaced from the pivot bearing of the side wings. In this way, the additional support of the side wings can be made, the stability of the mechanism increases.
  • One possible restraining brake for preventing the locking plate from snapping back before folding down the side wings consists of a latching lug and a latching edge, the displacement of the latching plate causing the latching lug to spring in behind the latching edge, thus holding the latching plate in the release position.
