Abstract

A cover (10) for an object (1) arranged on a wall (2) of a building is described; the cover (10) comprises an adhesive edge (11) and a non-adhesive central part (12). The edge (11) is normally covered by a film (15) which is removable during the application of the same cover (10) to said object (1); the cover (10) has dimensions such as to completely cover the object (1).

Description

  • The present invention relates to a cover for objects arranged on walls.
  • It is known in the state of the art that painters, prior to painting the walls of buildings or similar structures, use materials to cover objects of various types which are present on the walls and are not removable; in this way, they avoid splattering said objects with the paint used for the painting operation.
  • Said preliminary work implies a waste of time for the painters, given that various objects are normally present on walls which are to be painted, such as, for example, switch plates for chandeliers or similar items and plug socket covers for inserting the plugs of various electrical appliances, such as televisions, hi-fis, computers, washing machines, etc. However, said preliminary work is necessary in order to prevent splattering said objects with paint.
  • Painters frequently use removable adhesive tape to cover the plates or other objects arranged on walls; the painters must cut various strips of removable adhesive tape in order to cover the entire objects arranged on the walls of the building which is to be painted.
  • In view of the state of the art, the object of the present invention is to provide a cover for objects arranged on walls which overcomes the aforementioned drawbacks.
  • In accordance with the present invention, said object is achieved by means of a cover for an object arranged on the wall of a building, characterized in that it comprises an adhesive edge and a central part made of non-adhesive material, said edge being normally covered by a film which is removable during the application of the same cover to said object, said cover having dimensions such as to completely cover the object.
  • The features and advantages of the present invention will become apparent from the following detailed description of a form of practical embodiment thereof, shown by way of a non-limiting example in the accompanying drawings, wherein:
    • figure 1 shows a switch plate in accordance with prior art;
    • figures 2-5 show a cover for an object arranged on a wall in accordance with the present invention.
    • Figure 1 shows a common switch plate 1 arranged on a wall 2, for example, of a room in a house. The plate 2 comprises switches 3, in the form of push buttons, for lights or similar, but which may also comprise plug sockets for electrical appliances or other things, or sockets and push buttons.
    • Figures 2-5 show a cover 10 for an object 1 arranged on a wall 2 in accordance with the present invention. The cover 10 comprises a peripheral part made of adhesive material or an adhesive edge 11 and a central part 12 made of non-adhesive material. In particular, the central part 12 is made of plastic-coated paper, rubber-coated paper or plastic-coated cardboard and the edge 11 comprises plastic-coated cardboard or rubber-coated paper or plastic-coated paper in the external part and an adhesive material 14 in the internal part, i.e. in the part which will be in contact with the object, for the application of the cover to the object 1. Preferably, the adhesive edge 11 develops so as to form a ring which surrounds the central part 12.
  • The cover 10 is adapted to cover any type of object found on a wall 2 of a room in a building or similar structure, but is particularly adapted to cover plates 1 with switches 3 or sockets. The cover 10 is provided with similar dimensions to the object to be covered in order to obtain a complete covering of the object; therefore, the cover 10 will have the same dimensions as a switch plate if the object to be covered is a switch plate, and the same dimensions as a distribution board if the object to be covered is a distribution board, etc.
  • The central part 12 of the cover 10 is arranged at a given height D, of, for example, about 1 cm, with respect to the external surface 13 of the edge 11 in order to adapt to the height of the switches 3 with respect to the surface of the switch plate 1, as can be seen in the horizontal section (figure 3) and in the vertical section (figure 4).
  • The internal part of the edge 11, made of adhesive material, is covered by a removable film 15; the film 15, which is normally present on the adhesive edge 11, is removed in order to use the cover 10 during application on the switch plate 1.
  • The cover 10 is arranged on the switch plate 1 by means of removal of the film 15 and pressure of the edge 11 on the peripheral part of the switch plate 1 so as not to leave parts of switch plate 1 uncovered and so that the switches 3 or the sockets are covered by the non-adhesive central part 12 of the cover 10, as illustrated in figure 5.
  • Thanks to the present invention, a cover 10 is provided which is already prepared for a switch plate 1 so as to facilitate the preliminary work of a painter when covering the switch plates arranged on a wall in order to avoid splattering them with paint during the painting of the walls.
  • In addition to the cover 10 illustrated in figures 2-5, it is possible to provide various types of covers prepared for other types of objects such as distribution boards, air vents, etc. Every prepared cover will always be provided with an adhesive edge and a non-adhesive central part.
