Description
A HOUSEHOLD APPLIANCE COMPRISING A WRAPPING MECHANISM
[0001] The present invention relates to a household appliance comprising a wrapping mechanism.
[0002] In order to keep the foods fresh for a long period of time, prevent the odors from mixing with each other or preserve the amount of moisture in the foods placed in open top utensils such as plates etc. when emplaced in household appliances, for example the refrigerator or the oven, suitable for use in the kitchen, the utensil is wrapped with wrapping foils such as stretch film or aluminum folio. The wrapping foils are utilized in the kitchens predominantly either with the box they are sold in the markets or with wall apparatus. Performing the activities of wrapping and storing the foods and/or cooking in different locations causes inconveniences during utilization. Moreover, particularly during the utilization of stretch film boxes problems arise such as wrinkling of the stretch film, clinging or parting from the roll unsmoothly.
[0003] In the state of the art Korean Patent Application No. KR20040038353, an embodiment wherein the stretch film roll and the stretch film cutting apparatus are disposed on the inner surface of the door of another compartment situated on the refrigerator door is described.
[0004] The aim of the present invention is the realization of a household appliance comprising a wrapping mechanism situated on its body which serves to cover the foodstuffs with wrapping foil practically.
[0005] The household appliance realized in order to attain the aim of the present invention is explicated in the claims.
[0006] The household appliance of the present invention is suitable for use in the kitchen and comprises a housing which is disposed on the body, which is compatible for emplacing a wrapping foil roll therein such that the wrapping foil roll can rotate and a wrapping mechanism which is situated under the housing and which provides the wrapping foil inside the housing to be covered over the utensil. The wrapping mechanism comprises two arms which in the closed position close on the body by being parallel to the body surface and which hold the utensil to be packaged by 2/10 BB1800-7.877
compressing therebetween when brought to the open position by being rotated vertically to the body. Upon holding the utensil by means of the arms, the user can perform the process of wrapping the foodstuffs with the wrapping foil desired to be placed in the household appliance with her/his two free hands practically in front of the household appliance.
[0007] In the preferred embodiment of the present invention, when the arms are brought to the closed position, they are concealed inside the body so as to be at the same level with the body surface. Consequently, the esthetic appearance of the body surface is preserved.
[0008] In an embodiment of the present invention, when the arms are open, the distance between them can be adjusted. Consequently, utensils of various dimensions can be placed between the arms and wrapped with wrapping foil.
[0009] In a version of this embodiment, the distance between the arms can be adjusted by means of a movement mechanism. The movement mechanism comprises a rail situated on the body so as to remain under the arms and whereon the arms slidingly move by means of a connection member. The arm is fixed to the connection member and the connection member is fitted to the rail so as to make a sliding movement on the rail. The connection member transmits the sliding movement performed on the rail and provides the arm to move on the rail. Accordingly, adjusting the distance between the arms is facilitated.
[0010] The movement mechanism furthermore comprises unidirectional gears which provide to stabilize the position of the arm on the rail while open. The gears disposed both on the rail and the connection member do not prevent the unidirectional movement of the connection member. But when the arm is brought to the desired position, the connection member cannot move in the opposite direction of its first movement. Consequently, the arm is fixed in the desired position and the utensil placed thereon is prevented from falling down.
[0011] In another embodiment of the present invention, the front of the housing wherein the wrapping foil is placed is covered by a lid. During wrapping, as the wrapping foil is pulled from under the lid, the lid presses on the 3/10 BB1800-7.877
wrapping foil and provides wrapping to be performed without wrinkling or creasing. Moreover, the esthetic appearance of the body is preserved by means of the lid.
[0012] In another embodiment of the present invention, the wrapping foil roll is placed into the housing by means of a bearing which can easily be mounted, dismounted into the housing. The process of changing the used up wrapping foil with a new one is facilitated by the bearing mounted, dismounted easily by means of the spring whereto it bears against.
[0013] In yet another embodiment of the present invention, the wrapping mechanism comprises a shaft which is disposed inside the housing, which remains below the bearing, which extends parallel to the wrapping foil roll and which rotates around its axis. After the wrapping foil placed in the bearing is passed over the shaft, it is compressed in between the lid and the shaft and extended towards under the lid. Thus, during the wrapping process, the wrapping foil can be pulled smoothly by means of the rotation of the shaft.
[0014] In an embodiment of the present invention, a cutter which provides to cut the wrapping foil after a sufficient amount of wrapping foil is pulled for wrapping the utensil is situated under the lid.
[0015] In another embodiment of the present invention, retainers are provided at the end of the arms with matching forms for clasping the sides of the utensil. Accordingly, the utensil to be wrapped with the wrapping foil placed between the arms can be carried in a more balanced manner.
[0016] By means of the present invention, the foodstuffs to be placed in the household appliance by being wrapped with wrapping foil are practically covered with wrapping foil by means of a wrapping mechanism situated on the household appliance body which holds the utensil with its arms. Performing the process of wrapping with wrapping foil right in front of the household appliance provides the user convenience.

[0027] The household appliance (1) of the present invention is suitable for use in the kitchen and comprises a body (2) and a wrapping mechanism (3) which comprises a housing (4) disposed on the body (2), wherein the wrapping foil in roll (R) form can be rotatably placed and which has two opposite arms (5) situated under the housing (4), closing on the body (2) by being parallel to the plane of the body (2) in the closed position, utilized 5/10 BB1800-7.877
for holding the utensil (P) to be packaged placed therebetween when brought to the open position by being rotated vertically to the plane of the body (2) (Figure 1 and Figure 2).
[0028] In the situation when the wrapping foil is not needed to be utilized, the arms (5) remain closed on the body (2) to be parallel to the body (2) surface. When the foodstuffs desired to be placed in the household appliance (1) are desired to be covered with wrapping foil, the arms (5) are opened by being rotated vertically to the plane of the body (2). In the open position, the angle between the arms (5) and the body (2) is approximately 90 degrees. The utensil (P) to be covered with wrapping foil is placed between the arms (5) and the arms (5) are provided to hold the utensil (P) by clamping. Both hands of the user become free by the utensil (P) being held by means of the arms (5). The user can easily cover the utensil (P) by pulling the wrapping foil placed inside the housing (4) over the utensil (P). Accordingly, the user is presented with an ergonomic usage opportunity. Moreover, performing the process of wrapping the utensil (P) to be placed in the household appliance (1) with wrapping foil right in front of the household appliance (1) provides convenience for the user. After the completion of covering with the wrapping foil, the arms (5) are rotated in the reverse direction of the opening direction and are again brought to the position of being closed on the body (2).
[0029] In the preferred embodiment of the present invention, when the arms (5) are brought to the closed position, they are at the same level with the body (2). In this position, the arms (5) are practically embedded on the surface of the body (2) such that a protrusion is not formed on the body (2) surface. Consequently, a disfiguration in the esthetic appearance of the body (2) due to presence of the arms (5) is prevented.
[0030] In an embodiment of the present invention, the distance between the arms (5) can be adjusted when the arms (5) are in the open position. Thus, it is possible that the utensils (P) of different sizes are held firmly between the arms (5) for covering with the wrapping foil.
[0031] In a version of this embodiment, the wrapping mechanism (3) comprises a movement mechanism (6) which provides to adjust the distance between 6/10 BB1800-7.877
the arms (5) in the open position according to the dimensions of the utensil (P). Accordingly, the distance between the arms (5) can be easily adjusted and utensils (P) of different sizes can be covered with wrapping foil.
[0032] In an embodiment of the present invention, the movement mechanism (6) comprises a rail (7) situated on the body (2) so as to remain below the arms (5) and at least one connection member (8) which connects the arm (5) and the rail (7) to each other, which provides the arm (5) to move on the rail (7) by sliding on the rail (7) when the arm (5) is in the open position and gears (14) with one side disposed on the rail (7) and the other side on the connection member (8) so that they engage with each other, allowing unidirectional sliding motion of the arm (5) and the connection member (8), and when the distance in between the arms (5) is adjusted , preventing the arm (5) from moving in the opposite direction by fitting to one another.
[0033] The arm (5) is fixed to the connection member (8) and the connection member (8) is fitted to the rail (7) so as to make a sliding movement on the rail (7). Consequently, the arm (5) moves together with the connection member (8) during the movement of the connection member (8) on the rail (7). The connection member (8) not only transmits its sliding movement on the rail (7) to the arm (5) but also serves to support the arm (5). By means of the connection member (8), the movement of the arm (5) acquires flexibility (Figure 6). When the arm (5) is brought to the desired position, the unidirectional gears (14) on the rail (7) and the connection member (8) are fitted to one another and the arm (5) with its adjusted position is provided to remain motionless in the brought position (Figure 7 and Figure 8). When the process of covering with wrapping foil is completed, the gears (14) are dislodged from each other by stretching the connection member (8) forward and the connection member (8) is moved backwards on the rail (7) to return to its initial position. By means of the gears (14), the arm (5) is fixed in the desired position and the falling of the utensil (P) placed between the arms (5) and similar risks thereof are prevented.
[0034] By means of the movement mechanism (6), the movement of the arm (5) vertical to the plane of the body (2) is facilitated. In a version of this embodiment, both of the arms (5) are moved on the rail (7) by a 7/10 BB1800-7.877
connection member (8) each and the distance between them is adjusted.
[0035] In another version of this embodiment, by only using a single connection member (8) the distance between the arms (5) can be adjusted by moving one arm (5) on the rail (7), to approach to the other arm (5) which is in the open and fixed position (Figure 3).
[0036] In another embodiment of the present invention, the wrapping mechanism (3) comprises a lid (9) which covers the front of the housing (4) and which can be opened for renewing the wrapping foil roll (R). By means of the lid (9), the housing (4) can be closed to be at the same level as the body (2) surface and the esthetic appearance of the body (2) is preserved (Figure 5). Moreover, the lid (9) exerts pressure on the wrapping foil as the wrapping foil is pulled from under the lid (9). Consequently, problems such as wrinkling, clinging of the wrapping foil are prevented during wrapping.
[0037] The wrapping mechanism (3) comprises a bearing (10) which can be mounted, dismounted by being compressed between the opposite walls of the housing (4) by means of a spring, which provides the wrapping foil roll (R) to be placed into the housing (4) by being fitted over the wrapping foil roll (R) (Figure 5). Accordingly, changing the used up wrapping foil with a new one is facilitated.
[0038] In an embodiment of the present invention, the wrapping mechanism (3) comprises a shaft (11) which is situated under the bearing (10) and which prevents the wrinkling of the wrapping foil which wounds around the shaft (11) when the wrapping foil is utilized to wrap by being pressed between the wrapping foil and the lid (9). The shaft (11) extends parallel to the wrapping foil roll (R). After the wrapping foil placed in the bearing (10) is passed over the shaft (11), it is compressed between the lid (9) and the shaft (11) and extended towards under the lid (9) (Figure 4). During covering with wrapping foil, the shaft (11) also rotates together with the wrapping foil roll (R) as the wrapping foil is pulled. Consequently, the wrapping foil can be pulled more smoothly and the wrapping process can be performed without wrinkling or clinging.
[0039] In an embodiment of the present invention, the wrapping mechanism (3) comprises a cutter (12) disposed under the lid (9) for cutting the wrapping 8/10 BB1800-7.877
foil. Accordingly, the utensil (P) is wrapped by cutting a sufficient amount of wrapping foil for covering the utensil (P).
[0040] In another embodiment of the present invention, the arm (5) comprises a retainer (13) at the end of the arm (5) extending outward when in the open position, in matching form to the concave shape of the utensil (P). The retainers (13) disposed on the ends of both arms (5) are positioned to be opposite and facing each other when the arms (5) are in the open position (Figure 6). By means of the retainers (13), the utensil (P) to be wrapped can be held in a more balanced manner.
[0041] In an embodiment of the present invention, the household appliance (1) is a refrigerator. Consequently, the foods to be stored in the household appliance (1) are provided to preserve their freshness for a long period of time by being covered with wrapping foil.
