Definitions
- the invention relates to a method and a hearing device for calibrating an acoustic matching system for dispensing clan examples and an associated arrangement.
- Hearing aids are portable hearing aids that are used to care for the hearing impaired.
- different types of hearing aids such as behind-the-ear hearing aids, hearing aids with external earphones and in-the-ear hearing aids, e.g. also provided Concha hearing aids or channel hearing aids.
- the hearing aids listed by way of example are worn on the outer ear or in the ear canal.
- bone conduction hearing aids, implantable or vibrotactile hearing aids are also available on the market. The stimulation of the damaged hearing takes place either mechanically or electrically.
- Hearing aids have in principle as essential components an input transducer, an amplifier and an output transducer.
- the input transducer is usually a sound receiver, z. As a microphone, and / or an electromagnetic receiver, for. B. an induction coil.
- the output transducer is usually used as an electroacoustic transducer, z. As miniature speaker, or as an electromechanical transducer, z. B. bone conduction, realized.
- the amplifier is usually integrated in a signal processing unit.
- FIG. 1 illustrated by the example of a behind-the-ear hearing aid 1.
- a hearing aid housing 2 for carrying behind the ear one or more microphones 3 are incorporated for receiving the sound from the environment.
- a signal processing unit 4 which is also integrated in the hearing aid housing 2, processes the microphone signals and amplifies them.
- the output signal of the signal processing unit 4 is transmitted to a loudspeaker or receiver 5, which emits an acoustic signal.
- the sound is optionally transmitted via a sound tube, not shown, which is fixed with an earmold in the ear canal, to the eardrum of the hearing aid wearer.
- the power supply of the hearing device 1 and in particular that of the signal processing unit 4 is effected by a battery 6 likewise integrated into the hearing device housing 2.
- the adaptation of a hearing aid to a person usually takes place in a fitting room.
- the person who is in worn hearing aid in the fitting room provided by a signal source, such as a CD or tape recorder, sound samples.
- a signal source such as a CD or tape recorder
- sound samples These sound examples simulate u.a.
- Critical situations for the hearing aid wearer in order to be able to optimize the fitting of the hearing aid in such a way that the sound of the hearing aid is acceptable even under these critical situations.
- the parameters relating to the signal processing in the hearing aid are set individually. These parameters relate, for example, to the signal transmission behavior, gain, compression or settings for specific filters or algorithms in the hearing aid, e.g. in terms of noise reduction, speech enhancement or feedback suppression.
- the presented sound examples In order to optimize these parameters and settings, the presented sound examples must correspond as well as possible with realistic situations. Furthermore, it is necessary to know as accurately as possible the characteristic values of a presented sound example, eg the frequency, the level, the dynamic range, the phase angle etc. at the place of hearing of the person. These characteristics differ from the ideal characteristics of the sound sample due to a number of factors. These factors include, but are not limited to, distortions caused by the matching system, such as signal generation, signal storage, signal processing, signal amplification, or signal reproduction through a speaker system. Furthermore, reflections on the walls of the fitting room can cause falsification, the position of the hearing aid wearer in the sound field may deviate from the ideal position, etc. These falsifications ultimately affect the parameters determined to adjust the hearing aid such that they deviate from the optimal parameters and settings.
- the DE 101 15 430 C1 discloses, therefore, a method for individually adapting a wearable hearing aid to a hearing aid wearer dispensing with calibration.
- a sound sample with predefinable signal characteristics is presented to the hearing aid wearer by means of a fitting system.
- the sound example is recorded by at least one microphone of the hearing aid and transmitted back to the adaptation system either directly or, if appropriate, after signal processing. From the comparison of the predetermined signal with the signal actually measured at the location of the hearing aid wearer, transmission errors of the adaptation system can be detected and continuously compensated during the adaptation. Calibration of the fitting system at the beginning of a fitting is therefore unnecessary.
- the DE 10 2005 008 315 A1 discloses a simplified method of gauging a hearing aid for a current feedback path.
- a hearing device including a measuring device for measuring a feedback path and an operating device for operating the hearing device by the carrier. With the operating device, a measuring cycle for determining at least one property of the feedback path can be triggered. This allows the hearing aid wearer to measure his system with regard to the feedback path itself.
- the object is achieved with the method, the hearing aid and the arrangement of the independent claims.
- the invention provides the basis for a simple and accurate adjustment of a means for sound sample output for the purpose of calibration without additional microphones.
- the spatial position of a hearing aid wearer is taken into account. The calibration is done only once at the beginning of a fitting session and usually need not be repeated as long as the hearing aid wearer does not change his position.
- the status signal can be emitted acoustically by a receiver of the hearing device. This can be evaluated by the hearing aid wearer, so that calibration can be carried out by the hearing aid wearer himself.
- the evaluation of the status signal in the means can be carried out. This allows automatic calibration.
- the comparison of the recorded noise signal or the signal derived therefrom with the reference signal may include the comparison of the sound level of the recorded noise signal or the signal derived therefrom with the level of the reference signal.
- the parameter of the mean may be the volume of the sound sample provided by the means.
- the signal received by the microphone in the hearing aid can be broken down into a plurality of frequency bands and the comparison of the recorded noise signal or of the thereof derived signal frequency band related to the reference signal.
- the invention also provides a hearing aid for calibrating a means for presenting sound examples.
- the hearing device comprises at least one microphone for receiving a noise signal presented by the means, a signal comparison unit for comparing the recorded noise signal or a signal derived therefrom with a reference signal stored in the hearing device and a status signal output unit for outputting a status signal as a function of the comparison.
- the status signal can be an acoustic signal that can be emitted by a receiver of the hearing device.
- the signal comparison unit can compare the sound level of the recorded noise signal or the signal derived therefrom with the level of the reference signal.
- the invention also provides an arrangement with a means for presenting sound examples and with at least one loudspeaker for delivering the sound examples to a hearing aid.
- the arrangement comprises a hearing aid according to the invention and a noise signal unit in the means for providing and presenting the noise signal.
- the arrangement may further comprise an evaluation unit in the means for evaluating the status signal and an adjustment unit in the means for setting a parameter of the means as a function of the evaluation.
- the parameter of the mean can be the volume of the sound example provided by the means.
- FIG. 2 shows a flowchart of a method according to the invention for calibrating an acoustic matching system.
- the acoustic matching system comprises a means 10 and a loudspeaker 15 for presenting sound examples S4, by means of which a hearing aid 1 can be finely adjusted.
- precisely defined sound levels should arrive at the ear of a wearer of the hearing aid 1. Therefore, the acoustic matching system must be calibrated.
- the sound level at the ear of the hearing aid wearer also depends on his sitting position in the room and varies with it.
- the hearing aid 1 carried by the hearing aid wearer is switched on.
- the means 10 provides a noise signal S1, a so-called calibration noise.

- the recorded noise signal S1 or a signal derived therefrom is then compared with a reference signal S2 stored in the hearing device 1 in the subsequent step 104.
- the sound level of the recorded noise signal S1 is determined by means of level measurement in the hearing device 1 and compared with a reference level or nominal level.
- an acoustic status signal S3 is emitted by the hearing device 1 to the hearing device wearer in step 103.
- a long tone indicates that the calibration is correct
- two short tones indicate that the sound level is too low
- four short tones that the sound level is too high.
- step 106 the hearing aid wearer evaluates the status signal S3 and sets in step 107 a parameter of the means 10, in the case described the volume of the sound sample S4 to be output, in accordance with the status signal S2 heard.

- the status signal S3 can also specify in the form of spoken text the exact value of the volume of the means 10 to be set.
- the status signal S3 is not emitted acoustically, but transmitted by radio directly to the means 10, where it is evaluated. Subsequently, the means 10 automatically adjusts to the required volume and is thus calibrated for the current spatial position of the hearing aid wearer.
- FIG. 3 shows a block diagram of a calibration arrangement according to the invention with an acoustic matching system comprising a means 10 for presenting sound examples S4 and a speaker 15 for outputting the sound samples S4.
- the acoustic matching system serves to fine-tune hearing device parameters of a hearing device 1 with the aid of sound examples S4.

Hearing aids are portable hearing aids that are used to care for the hearing impaired. In order to meet the numerous individual needs, different types of hearing aids such as behind-the-ear hearing aids, hearing aids with external earphones and in-the-ear hearing aids, e.g. also provided Concha hearing aids or channel hearing aids. The hearing aids listed by way of example are worn on the outer ear or in the ear canal. In addition, bone conduction hearing aids, implantable or vibrotactile hearing aids are also available on the market. The stimulation of the damaged hearing takes place either mechanically or electrically.
The adaptation of a hearing aid to a person usually takes place in a fitting room. In this case, the person who is in worn hearing aid in the fitting room, provided by a signal source, such as a CD or tape recorder, sound samples. These sound examples simulate u.a. Critical situations for the hearing aid wearer in order to be able to optimize the fitting of the hearing aid in such a way that the sound of the hearing aid is acceptable even under these critical situations. During the adaptation, the parameters relating to the signal processing in the hearing aid are set individually. These parameters relate, for example, to the signal transmission behavior, gain, compression or settings for specific filters or algorithms in the hearing aid, e.g. in terms of noise reduction, speech enhancement or feedback suppression.
In order to optimize these parameters and settings, the presented sound examples must correspond as well as possible with realistic situations.
In order to largely eliminate the negative influences mentioned above, it is necessary to know the characteristic values of the presented sound sample as precisely as possible at the location of the hearing device. Therefore, at the beginning of an adjustment, first a calibration of the adjustment system takes place. For this purpose, special calibration signals are output via the loudspeaker system. By means of a special measuring probe (for example probe microphone), the calibration signal is detected and evaluated at the location of the hearing aid. As a result, signal distortions are detected and largely eliminated by appropriate settings of the matching system.
The above-described procedure is complicated and has the further disadvantage that it must be performed again to achieve an optimal result for each sound example and any change in the position of the hearing aid wearer in the sound field.

Sollpegel verglichen.According to the invention, therefore, in the
Depending on the result of the comparison - sound level corresponds approximately to the reference level, sound level too low or sound level too high - an acoustic status signal S3 is emitted by the

In a further embodiment, the status signal S3 is not emitted acoustically, but transmitted by radio directly to the
