A method of renewing a track (3) by means of a machine having on-track undercarriages (4) and a crawler track (24), wherein rails (30) and sleepers (38) are renewed in the course of continuous working advance and, prior to the removal of the old rails (30), rail fastenings (2) are detached from the sleepers (38) and collected, characterized in that, prior to the removal of the rail fastenings (2) taking place by means of a magnetic drum (12), the old rails (30) are lifted from the sleepers (38), and that, parallel thereto, the new rails (30) are lifted from the track (3) and, after the insertion of the new sleepers (38), are laid upon the same.
