Abstract

A wheelchair having a center wheel drive comprises a chassis (11), at least one front wheel (16), two center wheels (17), and at least one rear wheel (19). Each center wheel (17), including the drive motor (21) thereof, is mounted on a support (23), which is attached to the chassis (11) pivotally about the axis (25) by means of a spring hinge element (27). The support (23) is thus pivoted from the rest position against the spring force of the spring hinge element (27). The support (23) is connected to the arm (31) supporting the rear wheel (19) via a further spring hinge element (33). When an obstacle (35) is traversed, energy is first stored in the spring hinge elements (27, 33). Said energy is then released in order to raise the rear of the chassis (11) in unison with the motor drive.

Description

Rollstuhl mit Mittenradantrieb Wheelchair with Mittenradantrieb
The invention relates to a wheelchair with Mittenradantrieb, with a chassis having a front and a rear frame, which are hinged together, wherein the rear frame has both a front part and a rear part extending from the hinge point forward or to the rear, with at least one arranged on the front frame front wheel, at least one arranged at the rear of the frame rear wheel and two center wheels, which are arranged on the front part of the rear frame and are independently driven by a respective motor.
Sie sind deshalb in der Regel als Schwenkräder ausgebildet (US-B-S 964473)."Wheelchair with center drive" has become in recent years for potential buyers to a term for a wheelchair, which can be turned in a small space, for example, an elevator car.To turn in place, the wheelchair user needs the control only to operate so that the two center wheels, which are arranged on the chassis so that they bear virtually the whole weight of the chair wearer, are turned in opposite directions, whereby neither the front nor the rear wheels may obstruct the turning of the wheelchair are therefore usually designed as swivel wheels (US-BS 964473).
Dabei wird auch das Vorderrad angehoben, so dass es dasA particular challenge for wheelchair users is the overcoming of obstacles, for example curbs. Already in wheelchairs without mid-wheel drive, the use of auxiliary or auxiliary wheels has been proposed in order to overcome obstacles more easily. Thus, the AT-B-384 167 shows a wheelchair with drivable front wheels, in which two auxiliary wheels are mounted in the rear frame area laterally of the rear wheel, which are associated with a leading and a trailing auxiliary wheel, which are mounted on a two-legged carrier. However, this wheelchair has the disadvantage that, in contrast to a wheelchair with Mittenradantrieb, it can not be turned into a small space. The larger the wheel diameter, the easier it is for a wheel to overcome an obstacle. Therefore, for example, sees the wheelchair according to the already before cited AT-B-384167 front wheels with a relatively large diameter. However, this has the previously mentioned disadvantage that the wheelchair can not be turned in a small space. To avoid this disadvantage and still be able to overcome relatively high obstacles, is proposed in the already mentioned US-B-5 964473 with reference to Figures 1 to 8, to use a relatively small front wheel in combination with auxiliary wheels. These are arranged slightly higher than the front wheel and are therefore not in contact with the ground. However, if they impact on an obstacle, the front part of the chassis is raised and pivoted relative to the rear part against the force of a spring joint element of the type ROSTA. It also raises the front wheel, so that it
Can overcome the obstacle more easily. Then, when the further drive the front wheel is lifted from the ground and the center wheels have overcome the obstacle in part, the previously stored by raising the front part of the chassis in the spring energy causes the front part is moved back to the starting position, which Overcoming the obstacle further facilitated. In WO 2005/097033 it is noted that in the ROSTA spring joint element relatively little energy is stored and that also proves the steep spring characteristic of this element as disadvantageous. To avoid this disadvantage, among other things proposed to use a spring with flat spring characteristic, for example, a gas spring, but this has the disadvantage of a much higher price. It is also proposed to arrange an auxiliary wheel between the front wheel and the center wheels at a distance from the running surface of these wheels, so that larger obstacles can be overcome more easily. However, the use of such a Hilfsrades leads to a further increase in the price of the wheelchair. The aim of EP 1 584312 is to be able to drive over obstacles of up to 10 centimeters in height without impact and without further ado. The drive concept described therein provides additional drive means to drive the rear wheel when the driven center wheel lifts off the ground when overcoming an obstacle. As additional Antiϊebsmittel serve intermediate wheels, which drive the rear wheels. However, this has the disadvantage that this causes additional costs. In US 6206119 an electric wheelchair is described, which has a chassis with a front frame and a rear frame, which are hinged together at a pivot point. On the front frame two verschenkbare front wheels are arranged. The rear frame extends from the point of articulation forwards and backwards and carries front two center wheels and rear two verschenkbare rear wheels. The center wheels are driven independently by motors. In contrast to the wheelchair according to US Pat. No. 5,944,473 or WO2005 / 097033, no spring-joint element or spring is provided which connects the rear frame to the front frame, so that no energy storage takes place when an obstacle is passed over. Although this wheelchair is suitable for use on slightly uneven terrain, as illustrated by Figures 16 to 21, but is not able to overcome major obstacles, because then the contact pressure of the center wheels is often insufficient to spin the center wheels prevent. Even when driving up or down leaves the driving behavior to be desired.
It is therefore an object of the present invention to find a cost-effective solution which allows to overcome relatively large obstacles with a wheelchair.
Wenn somit bei der Fahrt gegen ein Hindernis die Mittenräder am Hindernis anstossen und die Fahrt dadurch etwas verzögert wird, entstehen Kräfte durch die Masse des Stuhlbenützers und desAccording to the invention this is achieved in a wheelchair of the type mentioned in the fact that the rear frame is articulated at the hinge point by means of at least one spring joint element on the front frame, and that the rear part of the frame is formed by an articulated, pivotable against a spring arm, which carries the rear wheel. Thus, when driving against an obstacle, the center wheels abut the obstacle and the journey is delayed somewhat, forces arise through the mass of the chair user and the
Hierauf bewirkt die in den Federgelenkelementen gespeicherte Energie eine Bewegung der vorher verschwenktenA seat pivoting the front and rear frames with respect to each other against the spring force of the spring hinge element. Next, the arm which carries the rear wheel is pivoted against a spring force. The pivoting of the arm facilitates the lifting of the front frame. Thereafter, the energy stored in the spring joint elements causes a movement of the previously pivoted
Teile in umgekehrter Richtung. Parts in the opposite direction. As a result, the chassis is lifted off the back and thus helps overcome the obstacle through the driven center wheels. Because the arm which carries the rear wheel can also be pivoted against the force of a spring, when passing over an obstacle additional energy is stored in a spring, which assists in overcoming an obstacle. Advantageously used as springs spring joint elements, as they have long been used in wheelchairs, for example in the form of ROSTA elements for use. It is possible to use the spring elements in series to increase the travel.
Es zeigt:Embodiments of the invention will now be described with reference to the drawings. It shows:

From Figures 1 to 4 of the wheelchair with Mittenradantrieb can be seen. It has a chassis 11 which has a front 12 and a rear frame 14. On the chassis 11, as shown schematically, a seat 13 is arranged. The wheelchair has on each side a front wheel unit 15 and a center wheel 17. The front wheel units 15 with the auxiliary wheel 16 and the front wheel 18 arranged in an elevated position are designed as described in WO 2006/102781. Such front wheel units are particularly well suited for overcoming obstacles. But it would also be possible to use Schwenkradeinheiten conventional design. Such a swivel wheel unit of conventional design forms the rear wheel 19. The center wheel 17 together with its drive motor 21 is arranged on the rear frame 14 (FIG. 2). The rear frame 14 forms a two-armed lever and is pivoted against a spring force at the hinge point 25 on the chassis 11. The hinge point 25 is located between the axis 20 of the center wheel 17 and the axis 22 of the rear wheel 19 and that conveniently below an imaginary Connecting line between the axis 20 and the axis 22. In the embodiment shown, the articulation is effected by means of so-called ROSTA spring joint elements 27. ROSTA elements are described for example in CH-A-681772 and have previously been used in wheelchairs (US-A-5 964473, EP-AI 584312). The rear frame 14 has on both sides both a front part 23, and a rear part 24, which extend from the hinge point 25 forward or to the rear. The rear part 24 of the frame 14 is formed by at least one articulated arm 31. In the embodiment shown serves as a joint for the arm 31, a ROSTA element 33. The arm 31 is therefore also in relation to the front part 23 against spring force pivoted. ROSTA elements are robust and inexpensive components. However, other springs could be used, as can be seen from the prior art described above.
In the illustrated embodiment of the invention, the arms 31 are connected to a bracket 32 to which a rear wheel 19 is arranged in the middle. It would be possible to arrange a rear wheel 19 on each arm 31.
With reference to Figures 3 and 4, the overcoming of an obstacle 35 will now be described. First, the auxiliary wheel 16 of the front wheel unit 15 comes in contact with the obstacle 35, so that the chassis 11 is raised slightly forward against the spring force of the ROSTA elements 27 and 33 (Figures 1 and 2). Later, the front wheel 18 then rises on the obstacle 35, wherein the arm 31 is further pivoted. If, during the further journey, the center wheels 17 abut the obstacle 41 (FIG. 4), the travel is somewhat delayed and forces arise due to the mass of the chair wearer and the seat, which the front part 23 and the arm 31, (FIGS 2) pivot. The drive motor 21 thereby moves upward (FIG.
Since these movements occur against spring forces of the ROSTA elements 27, 33, is stored in this energy. This stored energy causes a little later movement of the front part 23 and the arm 31 opposite to the previous movement. The arm 31 is pivoted upwards by the previously stored energy and thus supports the overcoming of the obstacle 35 by the driven center wheels 17 by a force acting on the chassis 11 upward. As mentioned in the introduction, it is stated in WO2005 / 097033 that the steep spring characteristic of the springs of the ROSTA type is disadvantageous. It could therefore be overcome with such a wheelchair equipped only small obstacles. It is therefore proposed there to use relatively expensive gas springs instead of ROSTA spring joint elements, which of course makes a wheelchair undesirable more expensive. This disadvantage is avoided by the combination of the ROSTA elements 23 and 33. Furthermore, by switching ROSTA elements in series, the spring travel can be increased.
Es sind daher je nach Gewicht des Rollstuhlbenützers und seinen Bedürfnissen verschiedene Kombinationen in Serie möglich, zum BeispielAn example of a series connection is shown in FIG. In a housing 49 is a first, not visible spring joint element 51, which is in series with two left and right thereof arranged spring joint elements 53, which are connected by a bracket 32 with each other and with the arm 31. In other words, in this embodiment, the spring joint element 51 is connected in series with two spring joint elements 53 arranged in parallel. Spring-joint elements are available in various lengths, for example 25, 33, 50, 66, 75 and 100 mm. Therefore, depending on the weight of the wheelchair user and his needs, various combinations in series are possible, for example
2 x 25 + 50 2 x 25 + 75 2x 25 + 100 2 x 33 + 50 2 x 33 + 66 und so weiter.2 x 25 + 50 2 x 25 + 75 2x 25 + 100 2 x 33 + 50 2 x 33 + 66 and so on.
Zusammenfassend kann folgendes festgehalten werden:In summary, the following can be stated:
Jedes Mittenrad (17) samt seinem Antriebsmotor (21) ist auf einem Träger (23) angeordnet, der um die Achse (25) verschwenkbar mittels eines Federgelenkelementes (27) amThe wheelchair with Mittenradantrieb has a chassis (11), at least one front wheel (18), two middle wheels (17) and at least one rear wheel (19). Each center wheel (17) together with its drive motor (21) is arranged on a carrier (23) which can pivot about the axis (25) by means of a spring-joint element (27) on
Chassis (11) is articulated. A pivoting of the carrier (23) from the rest position thus takes place against the spring force of the spring joint element (27). The carrier (23) is connected via a further spring joint element (33) with the arm (31) which carries the rear wheel (19). When passing over an obstacle (35) energy is first stored in the spring joint elements (27, 33). This energy is then released to raise the chassis (11) at the rear in unison with the engine drive.
