Abstract

The subject of the invention is a specific locking device for drop-drown shades with tracks, which permits the fabric to be tensioned in the fully extended position, or also in an intermediate position, by simple operation of a hand shade winder, or, in the case of a motorised shade, by means of a remote control or by means of automated systems.

Description

AUTOMATIC LOCKI NG DEVICE FOR DROP-DOWN SHADES WITH TRACKS
TECH N ICAL FIELD The present industrial invention relates to a device, not visible from the outside, for automatically locking drop down shades in slide tracks in such a way as to avoid leaving the fabric exposed to the action of wind. BACKGROU N D ART With particular reference to apparatus of this type, excluding traditional systems with a manual stop pin, it may be affirmed that some specifically conceived for their own type of track already exist; however, none can perform its function without com promising the overall aesthetic impact of the device and above all, where the shade is motorized, none can perm it completely automatic remote-controlled operation. DISCLOSU RE OF I NVENTION
It is thus an object of the present invention to contrive a device having the ability to lock the shade in a partly or fully extended position and place it under tension when it is drawn and subsequently to effect the retraction thereof, to permit the shade to be raised, in response to commands from the remote control that governs the actuator motor.
These and other objects are achieved by the device according to the invention, which is characterised by being com posed essentially of a suitably configured cylindrical projection integrally joined to the bottom rail of the sliding shade on each of the two tracks, and by an elastically operating stop element disposed inside the track in the bottommost position and, if desired, also in an intermediate position, and which performs a function like that of a railroad "switch".

BEST MODE FOR CARRYI NG OUT TH E INVENTION
With reference to said figures, 1 indicates the box housing the take-up roller and driving members, 2 the slide tracks, 3 the rail fitted at the bottom extremity of the fabric, not shown here, 4 the switch, 5 the cylindrical projection integrally joined to the extremity of the bottom rail (3) and guided along its path inside the tracks (2) by the switch (4) , 6 fastening screws, 7 centring washers, 4', 4", 4'" guide blades for the cylindrical projection (5), 8 the recess that retains the cylindrical projection (5) and 5' the body of the cylindrical projection, which is fixed to the bottom rail (3) by means of a pin (not shown) passing through the hole 5".
The device works as follows: during lowering, as the shade is extended , the cylindrical projection (5) descends inside the track (2) and meets the blade (4'), which switches it over from the left to the right side of the track; after it has passed completely over the blade (4") , as the extension phase is terminated and retroaction begins, the cylindrical projection will be forced inside the recess (8) where it will remain locked in place at the end of retraction, thus permitting the fabric to be tensioned. When the shade is to be raised, it is first extended far enough to permit the cylindrical projection to slide out of the recess, pass over the blade (4'") and disengage itself from the latter; then as retraction begins it will move back over to the left side of the track, coming once again in contact with the blade (4'), which will bend under the action of the cylindrical projection, thus permitting the latter and hence the shade to return toward the box (1 ) housing the take-up roller.
In practice the construction details, dimensions, materials, shape and other aspects of the invention may vary without departing from the scope of the present industrial patent; in fact, the invention thus conceived lends itself to numerous adaptations and variants, all falling within the realm of the inventive concept. I n addition, all the elements may be replaced by other technically equivalent ones.

Claims

1 ) AUTOMATIC LOCKI NG DEVICE FOR DROP-DOWN SHADES WITH TRACKS comprising a locking cylindrical part (5), an elastically operating switch (4) disposed within a track (2), characterised in that the cylindrical part
(5) protrudes from the extremity of the body (5') and is conformed to mate with the bottom rail (3) of the shade, whereto it is attached by fastening means passing through the hole (5"), and that the switch, having two holes in its central body (4) so that it may be secured by screws (6), comprises three differently sized elastic blades (4', 4", 4'") and a recess (8).
2) AUTOMATIC LOCKI NG DEVICE FOR DROP-DOWN SHADES WITH TRACKS according to the main claim , characterised in that the thickness of the switch (4) is such as to perm it a perfect fit within the slide track and that the cylindrical projection (5) coupled to it has the same thickness.
3) AUTOMATIC LOCKI NG DEVICE FOR DROP-DOWN SHADES WITH TRACKS according to the previous claims, characterised in that the locking devices, one for each of the two tracks, are mounted in the bottommost position, there being the possibility of installing additional pairs inside the tracks to lock the shade in a partly drawn position.
4) AUTOMATIC LOCKI NG DEVICE FOR DROP-DOWN SHAD ES WITH TRACKS according to the previous claims, characterised in that the shade controls may be manual, with operation by means of a hand winder, or motorised and operated by means of a remote control and furthermore, in this latter case, commands may be also be imparted by automatic devices sensitive to the wind or brightness of light, such as, for exam ple, anemometers and light sensors mounted on the exterior of the building. 5) AUTOMATIC LOCKI NG DEVICE FOR DROP-DOWN SHADES WITH TRACKS according to the previous claims, characterised in that the invention described as an accessory for shades with a box can also be applied, obtaining the same performance, for shades without a box housing.
