With regard to the arrangement and size of the recesses, a compromise must be made, taking into account that the recesses are on the one hand large enough to fold the ladder and the risk of finger-shear off, and on the other hand not endanger the stability of the individual stages by excessively large recesses or impaired.

  1. Collapsible straight ladder for lift shafts comprising
    - two side beams (1, 2) in the form of U-profiles with inwardly directed, i.e. opposing U-profile-limbs (1.1, 2.1) and
    - rungs (3) in the form of U-profiles, the U-profile-limbs (3.2, 3.3) of which are pivotally linked to the side beams (1, 2) such, that the side beams (1, 2) are adjustable relative to one other in both directions, wherein the U-profile limbs (2.1) of the first side beam (2) into which the rungs (3) in the collapsed condition of the ladder are retractable, have a height which is adapted to the height of the rungs, whereas the U-profile-limbs (1.1) of the second opposed side beam (1) have a lower height than the U-profile-limbs (2.1) of the first side beam (2) and
    - a safety device mounted to the upper end of the ladder in order to secure the ladder in the position of use,
    characterized in that for the information of the security device the side beams (1, 2) are provided in the region of their upper ends with a plurality of bores (11) in order to apply and/or to secure the safety device as a function of depth of the lift shaft in different height positions, and in that the security device includes an essentially L-shaped angle profile (4), one limb thereof is hinged with its end to the side beams (1, 2) whereas the second limb is directed from the side beams backwards.
  2. Straight ladder for lift shafts according to claim 1, characterized by a downwardly curved safety strip (4.1) adjoining the free longitudinal side of the second limb of the L-shaped angle profile (4).
  3. Straight ladder for lift shafts according to claim 2, characterized by a hole (4.2) which is provided in the second limb of the L-shaped angle profile (4) for inserting a safety pin (8) which is preferably attached to the L-shaped angle profile.
