Description

DESCRIPTION COILER HEAD FOR A HOT ROLLING MILL
Technical Field
The invention has as its object a coiler head for a hot rolling mill, according to the preamble of the main claim.
The rolling plant utilizing such device also forms part of this invention.
The invention concerns the coiler head used in hot rolling mills, for the production of wire rod. Background Art A typical coiler head contains a rotating axis onto which a single curved tube is fixed for the formation of wire rod coils from the rolling mill.
This curved tube is submitted to strong wear and tear during normal rolling operations due to the passing of the rolled stock at high-speed on its inside. This phenomenon requires the frequent change of the curved tube (coil- former tube or coiler tube).
During these frequent replacements a complete stop of the plant is necessary, with a consequent unproductiveness of the same.
The problem to be solved is substantially that of lengthening the working time of the plant, namely reducing as much as possible the intervention time on the coiler head. Solution of the problem and inventive concept
The problem is solved with the characteristics of main claim, namely dividing the coiler tube into two or more, where the first section is rectilinear and slightly inclined at the end and the second section, which is very curved and therefore subject to greater wear and tear, is considered a tubular extension interchangeable with other adjacent extensions.
The sub-claims represent preferred embodiments. Advantages
With the use of more tubular extensions, namely more coil-forming wire rod outlet tubes, that are rotationally newly fitted into the wire rod entry tube of the first section, the advantages are evident for the substitution times of the same, as it is exactly the strongly shaped tubular extension that suffers the greatest wear and tear. in fact, when the section of the respective tubular extension is worn, namely consumed, instead of stopping the plant for complete maintenance, it is provided to simply rotate the first section. The substitution operation requires a split second and therefore does not require the stopping of the plant but simply the use of a compensation loop, or the use of the dead time between one billet and the arrival of the following.
The restoring the formation of coils will therefore occur simply and without having to stop the plant. The stopping of the plant will consequently be delayed in proportion to the number of coiler extension tubes radially arranged.
If there are two coiler extension tubes the stopping time will be doubled, if there are three the time will be tripled, if there are four the time will be quadrupled, the simple rotation of the second section of the coiler assembly is enough to vary the entrance of the new coiler extension tube.
Naturally this can be advantageous also in case of an impediment in the coiler extension tube.
An additional advantage is the prevision that the alternative coiler extension tubes may have different shapes e.g. different sections to allow the better performing alternative use for different diameters of wire rod.
The combination of the two solutions can also be provided to obtain greater productive variety and a greater lifespan of the coiler head, for example by providing four extension tubes, two of the same diameter and two of a different diameter arranged as a cross. In this case there will be both the advantage of doubling the lifespan of the head and also of being able to adapt it to two different types of wire rod.
Description of the invention The invention will now be explained better with the aid of the included drawings wherein:
Fig.1 represents in an axial cross section with the two sections of the coiler head in which there are two coiler extension tubes and the entry of only one of them is seen with the entry tube of the main section, while the one opposite is deactivated and ready to be used when the first is no longer able to effectively carry out its function.
Fig.2 represents, in an enlarged axial section, the connection part between the two sections, as the enlargement of the central part of fig.1.
Fig.3 represents a view as in Fig.2 but in the first section, it has been rotated by 180° to fit the entry tube in the entrance of the second coiler extension tube without having to intervene in the maintenance of the coiler head.
Figs. 1A and 1 B, represent figures respectively from above the coiler head and from the underneath of the coiler head with the view of the formation channels of the coils. Figs.2A and 3A, represent the plan-view of figures 2 and 3 respectively for the view of the two different types of connection.
Fig. 2P represents the enlarged part of upper entrance of the first section of channel (11 ) of the first section (1) with the view of the rotation system and worm (23) of the internal coaxial part (101) with the channel (11) with respect to the external part (100) which also includes a locking system with a positioning screw (24).
It is understood that in this case of two coiler extensions, the intervention time for the substitution of the same is halved. Detailed description of the figures As disclosed by the figures:
- with 1 the first section of the coiler head is indicated involving the section of the entry tube with a slight outwards inclination such as to allow the entry on one or other coiler extension tube, for simple rotation;
- with 2, the second section of the coiler head including, in this specific case, two opposite coiler extension tubes.
Obviously there could be 3 opposite coiler extension tubes, arranged in 120° rays or four in 90° rays or more. The first section of the coiler head (1), therefore the intake tube like the wire rod guide channel which, starting axially rectilinearly (11), ends slightly inclined on the "G" connection plane between the two sections (1, 2).
The system as visible in Fig.1 is bound in position, supported by a containment case (3) and the second section (2), and rotatable on bearings (31) with a bevel-gear coupling (4, 12).
The wire rod or wire to be coiled, passes shaping itself in the form of a coil starting from the channel (11), continuing in the same channel until the inclined exit (11') which enters a coiler extension tube (21 ) for the complete formation of the coil, the exit of which coil occurs under plane "P" by means of a receiving device not shown, for example rotating in compliance with the progression of the formation of the coils, namely the coil. The coil-former extension tube (21) is therefore interchangeable with the opposite second coil- former tube (22) as visible from the figures (2, 2A and 3, 3A).
The second section that carries the coiler tube extensions is supported by the case (3) and is divided into two sub-sections (2A and 2B), in this way it has a better demountability and interchangeability of the component parts of the extension section (2). The movement device of one section with respect to the other (1 and 2) can be any, here represented there is a crown wheel with a worm (23).
The important characteristic of this device is to be able to readily change position, without interruption of the functioning of the plant. Summarizing
With the coiler head many tubes, according to the invention two or more coiler extension tubes (21 , 22), are mounted onto the same axis of the same coiler head.
Of these two or more coiler extension tubes, only one (21 or 22) is at work, the others are on stand-by. The tube at work is selected by means of the first section (1 ), which is defined as the "tube selector".
The "tube selector" is therefore a single tube section (11 ) at the entry of the coiler head (1), with a curved portion (11').
The tube selector corresponds to said first section and can rotate independently from said second section (2), namely from the other bend tubes (21, 22) of said second section, this, in order to convey the wire rod towards the interested coiler extension tube (21 or 22).
When the first coiler extension tube at work is consumed (extension cord 21), by rotating the selector tube (1), one of the new coiler extension tubes on stand-by (extension 22) of the second section (2) is selected.
This operation unlike previous solutions of the known art, does not require any prolonged stopping of the rolling plant.
When two or more curved coiler extension tubes (21 , 22) have been consumed, they will be simultaneously replaced. Advantageously the coiler extension tubes can have different diameters.
In this case, the additional objective of being able to benefit from the coiler head suitable for different wire rod diameters is obtained. Results of the invention.
With this invention the stopping times of the plant due to the replacement of the curved coiler extension tubes is drastically reduced.
The reduction of the stopping times is proportional to the number of extension tubes for the formation of the coil (21 , 22 ) installed onto the same axis ϋf the same coiier head.
From the figures, and in particular from the enlarged figures Figs.2 or 3, it can be seen that the rotation of inversion of the entrance of the channel (21) with one or other coiler extension (21 , 22) occurs with the bushing of the central channel (101-11) with respect to an external containment liner (100) of the section (1).
In this way, by means of a worm (23), keyed on the side, the internal part can be rotated (101) with respect to the external part (100).
A locking system (24), in this specific case with a screw, determines the lock of the two elements (100-101).
