Definitions
- the invention relates to a method for producing a film with security printing and a film produced by this method.
- Printed or metallised films are mainly used for food packaging, drug packaging, decoration purposes, gift wrapping, car window coating, roofing and air conditioning insulation, and many other applications.
- Such metallized or printed films for packaging purposes are for example from US 5 631 066 or the DE 19 920 356 A1 known. Due to the increasing use of such films in the packaging industry, it is increasingly the case that fake packaging materials such as the above-mentioned films are used in counterfeit products. In order to protect themselves against such forgeries many manufacturers try to make the authenticity of the product clear by special markings on the packaging. For example, special metallized holograms are used as marks.
- a film of the invention is first printed by a method according to the invention on at least one side with a written or pictorial representation and the film is then at least partially metallized on the printed side, so that the metallized portion of the printed portion at least in sections covered.
- a feature of the invention is that films of polyester, PVC, nylon or polypropylene are used for the film or for the process.
- These films are printed in a first step with single or multi-colored written or pictorial representations.
- all common printing processes such as screen printing, pad printing or gravure printing are suitable for this purpose.
- this printed film is then at least partially metallized on the printed side.
- This metallization can take place in the form of sections, preferably in the form of strips, by vapor deposition of a metal.
- a metal gold, silver, copper, platinum, nickel, titanium or the like can be used.
- the film is metallized with vaporized aluminum, since this often produces a desired clear mirror effect on the film.
- Fig. 1 shows a schematic cross section through a metallizing machine.
- Fig. 2 shows a view of a film produced by the method according to the invention viewed from the unprinted side.
- Fig. 3 shows a view of the film of Fig. 2 viewed from the printed side.
- Fig. 4 shows a cross section through the film of Fig. 2 cut along the line IV.
- Fig. 5 shows a cross section through an alternative embodiment of the film according to the invention.
- FIG. 1 shows the schematic structure of a metallizing machine.
- a metallizing machine For partially metallizing the previously printed film is loaded onto the unwinding roll 1.
- the air in the engine room of the metallizing machine is continuously pumped out until a vacuum of approximately 5 x 10 -4 millibars is reached.
- the printed film is guided over deflecting rollers 5 to the guide roller 2 and pressure roller 4.
- On an aluminum coil 6 is aluminum wire 7 which is applied to an evaporator boat 8 in a Evaporations concerninger 10 and is melted there at a temperature of 700 to 1400 ° C and evaporated due to the high vacuum.
- the evaporator boat 8 is mounted on evaporator clamps 9 in Evaporations concerninger 10.
- the thus evaporated aluminum gas now adheres evenly on the surface of the film, which is moved over the guide roller 2 on Evaporations concerninger 10 over.
- the speed with which the film is moved past the Evaporations concerninger 10 is depending on the desired thickness of the metallization layer 3 to 5 m / s.
- Preferred layer thicknesses of the metallization are between 50 and a maximum of 300 ⁇ .
- a film cover 13 is used, which is moved over rollers with notches 11 and tension rollers 12 synchronously with the guide roller 2 and the film on Evaporations meanser 10.
- rollers with notches 11 ensure that the film cover tape 13 always runs in the correct position over the film, so that the desired areas are covered and thereby not metallized.
- the finished printed and metallized film is cooled after the metallization process and guided over deflection rollers 5 on a Aufwicklerwalze 3.
- FIG. 2 shows a view of a film 14 from the unprinted side 16.
- the printed surfaces 18 of the letters T and L shown here by way of example are continuous single-colored visible from this side while the metallized strip 17 appears behind it and the printed surfaces 18 does not interrupt. If this film is, for example, a packaging material, then the unprinted page 16 may be, for example, the page directed outwards, so that the viewer sees characters in the corresponding color.
- Fig. 3 shows the same film 14 from the other side so the printed side 15 viewed from. Since the printing and metallization has taken place on the same side of the metallized strip 17 overlaps the printed areas 18 of the two letters T and L. However, the relevant sections of the printed area 18 are not just covered, but there is a discolored metallized surface 19, which has a whitish tint in the case of aluminum as the metallizing material. By metallizing under high vacuum at high temperatures, a portion of the ink is evaporated and a clearly visible whitish-colored surface appears, which has the contours of the original printed area. This decolorized and metallized surface 19 can not be made with conventional printing inks for the purpose of counterfeiting. Furthermore, it is not possible in a conventional printing method to arrange on large-sized packaging films such interruptions of the surfaces, for example, in a lettering so accurate that there are no visible shifts of the individual character areas.
- Fig. 4 shows a section through the film of Fig. 2 cut along the line IV-IV.
- the printed surface 18 can be seen on this of the metallization 17 was applied.
- a portion of the color of the printed area 18 was evaporated in the metallization, resulting in the above-described decolorized metallized area 19 when viewed on the printed side 15.
- the layer thicknesses are not drawn to scale.
- Fig. 5 shows a section through an alternative embodiment of a film 14 according to the invention, in which the printed side 15 has been metallized over the entire surface.
- the printed side 15 has been metallized over the entire surface.
- the effect is that the color of the print was partially vaporized during metallization.
- the unprinted side 16 ago only the printed surface 18 can be seen.
- different areas are discolored in different shades of silver.
- the written or pictorial representation is discolored from this side, but clearly in your design.
- the resulting whitish silvery discolored areas have a special color that can be achieved with any conventional ink on the market, making it impossible for counterfeiters to imitate this color.
Abstract
Description
The invention relates to a method for producing a film with security printing and a film produced by this method.
Printed or metallised films are mainly used for food packaging, drug packaging, decoration purposes, gift wrapping, car window coating, roofing and air conditioning insulation, and many other applications.
On the side of the counterfeiters, however, more and more companies are producing at the same time, simply and cheaply, producing such holograms and thus imitating the original holograms in a deceptively similar way.
It is therefore an object of the invention to provide a film and a method for its production, which has security features that are not easy to fake, while at the same time the production of such packaging films should be as inexpensive as possible.
This object is achieved in that a film of the invention is first printed by a method according to the invention on at least one side with a written or pictorial representation and the film is then at least partially metallized on the printed side, so that the metallized portion of the printed portion at least in sections covered.
At all points where a metallized surface and a printed surface overlap, an area on the printed / metallized side of the film which is discolored and, for example, appears whitish silver, reveals the outline and shape of the printed surface. Viewed from the unprinted side, the printed surface is unchanged and is backed by the metallized surface. This clearly visible difference between the two sides of the film results in a security feature which is not easy to falsify and which is achieved by a simple and cost-effective method step.
A feature of the invention is that films of polyester, PVC, nylon or polypropylene are used for the film or for the process.
These films are printed in a first step with single or multi-colored written or pictorial representations. In principle, all common printing processes such as screen printing, pad printing or gravure printing are suitable for this purpose.
According to a further feature of the invention, this printed film is then at least partially metallized on the printed side. This metallization can take place in the form of sections, preferably in the form of strips, by vapor deposition of a metal. As the metal, gold, silver, copper, platinum, nickel, titanium or the like can be used. Preferably, the film is metallized with vaporized aluminum, since this often produces a desired clear mirror effect on the film.
The invention will now be described in more detail with reference to the figures, the embodiments and the claims.
Fig. 1 shows a schematic cross section through a metallizing machine. Fig. 2 shows a view of a film produced by the method according to the invention viewed from the unprinted side. Fig. 3 shows a view of the film of Fig. 2 viewed from the printed side. Fig. 4 shows a cross section through the film of Fig. 2 cut along the line IV. Fig. 5 shows a cross section through an alternative embodiment of the film according to the invention.
The cross section shown in Fig. 1 shows the schematic structure of a metallizing machine. For partially metallizing the previously printed film is loaded onto the
The printed film is guided over deflecting
Bevorzugte Schicht-Dicken der Metallisierung liegen zwischen 50 bis maximal 300 Å.The thus evaporated aluminum gas now adheres evenly on the surface of the film, which is moved over the
If not the entire film but only portions thereof are to be metallized, so comes in addition a
The finished printed and metallized film is cooled after the metallization process and guided over
Figs. 2 to 4 show views of a film according to the invention, which were printed and metallized by the method according to the invention. FIG. 2 shows a view of a
Fig. 3 shows the
When viewing a film according to the invention, it is thus easily possible for the layman to distinguish a forgery from a real film, since a simply printed film would either look the same from both sides, or visible displacements of the individual printed areas at those places where they would be decolorized by the metallization. Since two machines are used for the method according to the invention, on the one hand a Printing machine and on the other hand, the metallization machine described above, it is not easy for counterfeiters to produce such a film. Usually counterfeits would be made simply by means of printing machines, which would give them the appearance of an original foil only from one side, but if they were turned over a counterfeit would immediately be recognizable to anyone due to the non-occurring effect of the discolored metallised areas.
Fig. 4 shows a section through the film of Fig. 2 cut along the line IV-IV. On the printed
Fig. 5 shows a section through an alternative embodiment of a
