Description

  • The invention generally relates to an articulated train train, and a car for constituting such a train.
  • More specifically, the invention relates, according to a first aspect, to an articulated train train comprising
    • a plurality of longitudinally aligned cars each having front and rear longitudinal ends,
    • for each car, a ball joint connection between the front end of said car and the rear end of the preceding car in the line,
    each car comprising a body, at least one bogie on which the body rests, and pivot connecting means of the body with the bogie.
  • Reams of this type are known from the state of the art. A section of such a train is represented on the figure 1 , this section comprising several cars V connected by passages C through which passengers can drive from one car V to another. The floor P in the train is relatively higher at the traffic passage than in the center of the cars, that is to say in the room where the passengers sit. The difference in level is about 125 mm.
  • This drop is troublesome for passengers who want to switch from one car to another, especially when these passengers hang around a bag or a rolling suitcase.
  • Otherwise, EP-0 642 964 describes a train train articulated to several cars. The coupling means of two successive cars are placed under the rear end of one of the cars. The support frame of the other car is placed under the front end of said other car. As before, the floor at the level of the traffic passage between the two cars is at a higher level than in the center of the cars.
  • In this context, the present invention aims to provide an articulated train train within which the movement between cars is easier than in trains of the state of the art.
  • To this end, the articulated train train of the invention, of the type described above, is essentially characterized in that the ball joints are disposed at a vertical level less than or equal to the pivot connection means relative to the running surface of the train.
  • The articulated train train may also have one or more of the following features, in any technically possible combination;
    • the pivot connection means are such that the body is pivotally mounted on the bogie about an axis perpendicular to the running surface of the train;
    • each car comprises a single bogie supporting the front end of said car, the rear end of the car being supported by the front end of the next car in alignment through the ball joint;
    • the train comprises, for each car, a traffic passage communicating an interior volume of the body of said car with an interior volume of the body of the preceding car, the ball joint between the two cars being disposed under the circulation passage ;
    • each box has a crenellated bottom including front and rear fund vertically relatively higher relative to the running surface of the train, and a relatively lower central bottom;
    • the pivot connection means are arranged under the front bottom;
    • the bogie extends partially under the front bottom and partially under the circulation passage, the ball joint being interposed vertically between the bogie and the circulation passage;
    • the bogie of each car extends partially under the rear bottom of the body of the preceding car;
    • the internal volume of each box and the circulation passage placing it in communication with the interior volume of the preceding box are delimited on a lower side by respective floors extending vertically substantially at the same level with respect to the running surface rowing;
    • each bogie comprises two parallel transverse axles spaced longitudinally, the ball joint being arranged longitudinally between the two axles;
    • the ball joint connection of each car with the preceding car is arranged longitudinally at a distance of less than two meters from the pivot connection means between the body and the bogie of the car; and
    • the train comprises a pantograph able to slide along a catenary and disposed over one of the cars, vertically to the right of the pivot connection means of the car.
  • According to a second aspect, the invention relates to a train car adapted to be part of an articulated train comprising a plurality of aligned cars. longitudinally, the car comprising a body, at least one bogie on which the body rests, pivot connecting means of the body with the bogie and ball joint means adapted to cooperate with complementary ball joint means of the preceding car in the alignment, so that the cars are linked by a ball joint, characterized in that the ball joint means are arranged at a vertical level less than or equal to the pivot connection means relative to the running surface of the car.
  • The car may also have one or more of the following features, in any technically feasible combination:
    • the car comprises at a front end a section of traffic passage adapted to cooperate with a complementary passage section of the previous car to create a passage communicating respective internal volumes of the boxes of the two cars, the ball joint means of the car being arranged under the circulation passage;
    • the body has a crenellated bottom, comprising front and rear funds located vertically relatively higher relative to the running surface of the train, and a relatively lower central bottom, the pivot connection means being arranged under the front bottom; and
    • the interior volume of the body and the section of the circulation passage are delimited on a lower side by respective floors extending substantially at the same level.
  • Other features and advantages of the invention will emerge from the description which is given below, by way of indication and in no way limiting, with reference to the appended figures among which:
    • the figure 1 is a side view of an articulated train train section according to the prior art;
    • the figure 2 is a view similar to that of the figure 1 for a train train according to the invention;
    • the figure 3 is an enlarged view of a detail III of the figure 2 , illustrating a bogie, its pivot connection with the body of a car, and the connection ball joint between this car and the preceding car, the passage of circulation between the two cars being not represented for the sake of clarity;
    • the figure 4 is a top view along arrow IV of the figure 3 , the circulation passage and a right lateral half of the cars not being shown to reveal the bogie and the ball joint; and
    • the figure 5 is a partial sectional view in a horizontal plane of the ball joint of Figures 3 and 4 .
  • The articulated train train of which a section is represented on the figure 2 includes a head drive, a tail drive and a plurality of cars aligned longitudinally between the two drives. Cars 2 are linked to each other and are linked to the head and tail engines. The head motor is adapted to drive the train in a forward longitudinal direction, symbolized by the arrow F of the figure 2 . The rear wheel is able to train the train in the opposite direction.
  • In the remainder of the text, reference will be made to directions or to the front, rear, right and left sides, defined with reference to the direction of movement of the train when it is driven by the head motor.
  • Each car 2 comprises a body 4, a bogie 6 on which the body 4 rests with a front end, pivot connection means 8 of the body 4 with the bogie 6, and ball joint means 10 cooperating with connecting means complementary ball 12 of the previous car 4 in alignment.
  • The ball joint means 10 are formed at the front end of the car 2 and the complementary ball joint means 12 at a rear end of the previous car 2. The ball joint means 10 and the complementary ball joint means 12 create a ball joint 14 between the two cars through which the front end of the car 2 supports the rear end of the previous car 2.
  • Thus, each car is supported at its front end by the bogie 6, and at its rear end by the following car 4 in alignment, via the ball joint 14.
  • Furthermore, the train comprises, for each pair of consecutive cars 2, a traffic passage 16 communicating the respective interior volumes 18 of the boxes 4 of the two cars 2. To this end, each car 2 comprises, on one side before , a section of passage 20 adapted to cooperate with a complementary passage section 22 formed on a rear side of the previous car 2, the two passage sections being contiguous longitudinally and thus creating the circulation passage 16.
  • The interior volume 18 of each box 4 is subdivided into a front portion 24 communicating with the passage 16 leading to the preceding car 2, a central portion 26 of passenger accommodation, and a rear portion 28 communicating with the passage 16 connecting the car 2 to the next car 2 in the lineup.
  • The front, central and rear portions 24, 26 and 28 of the interior volume 18, and the circulation passages 16 of the two opposite longitudinal sides of the car 4 are delimited, on a lower side, by a floor 29, this floor s' extending substantially at the same level with respect to the running surface of the trainset throughout the interior volume 18 and in the circulation passages 16.
  • As we see on the figure 2 each box 4 has a crenelated bottom 30, with a front bottom 32 and a rear bottom 34 located vertically at a relatively higher level relative to the running surface of the train, and a central bottom 35 located vertically at a relatively high level. lower compared to the running plan of the train.
  • The front, rear and central bottoms 32, 34, 35 are respectively located under the front 24, rear 28 and central 26 of the interior volume 18.
  • On the figure 3 , the bogie 6 includes a frame 36, two axles 38 mounted on the frame 36, four wheels 40 mounted in pairs on the axles 38, and two dampers 42 interposed between the front end 32 of the body 4 and the frame 36.
  • More precisely, we see on the figure 4 the frame 36 comprises two longitudinally and mutually parallel longitudinal members 44, and two mutually parallel transverse crosspieces 46 connecting the two side members 44. The axles 38 are mounted at the two opposite longitudinal ends of the longitudinal members 44. The cross members 46 are symmetrically disposed relative to the median transverse vertical plane of the two axles 38, each extending between this plane and one of the axles 38. The bogie 6 comprises still disc brakes 48 mounted on the axles 38, cooperating with braking actuators 50 mounted on the cross members 46.
  • The dampers 42 each rest on a spar 44 and are arranged in the median transverse vertical plane of the two axles 38.
  • The pivot connection means 8 are arranged under the front bottom 32 and are such that the front end 32 of the body 4 is pivotally mounted on the bogie 6 about a pivot axis A perpendicular to the running surface of the train. The pivot connection means 8 are arranged in the median transverse vertical plane of the two axles 38, and also in the median longitudinal vertical plane of the two crosspieces 46. These means are of known type and will not be detailed here.
  • The ball joint means 10 comprise a front arm 52 extending from the front end 32 under the connecting passage 16, and a stirrup 54 integral with the front arm 52.
  • We see on Figures 3 and 4 that the front arm 52 includes a first portion extending downwardly and forwards from the front bottom 32, and a second portion extending the first horizontally forwardly. The yoke 54 extends from the second part of the front arm 52 and comprises two parallel bent arms 56, each arm 56 comprises a first section 58 extending transversely to the right from the front arm 52 and a second section 60 extending vertically the first section 58.
  • The complementary ball joint means 12 comprise a rear arm 62 extending longitudinally rearward, substantially horizontally, from the rear base 34. This rear arm 62 is located vertically immediately above the first sections 58 of the The complementary means 12 further comprise a central plate 64 extending transversely to the right from the rear arm 62. The central plate 64 is engaged between the second sections 60 of the yoke 54. A spacing G remains of each side of the plate 64 between this plate 64 and the second sections 60 of the bent arms 56, as seen on the figure 5 .
  • The second portions 60 and the plate 64 are pierced by cylindrical bores 66 and 68, coaxial, of longitudinal axis.
  • As we see on the figure 5 , the bore 68 receives a ball 70, a sleeve of elastic material 72 being interposed between the ball 70 and the inner surface of the bore 68. The ball 70 is typically made of rubber.
  • The ball joint means 10 also comprise an axis 74 passing through the bores 66 of the two bent arms 56, and also passing through the ball 70 through an orifice provided for this purpose in the ball 70.
  • The ball 70 is rigidly fixed, in translation, along the shaft 74, by any suitable means. The elastic sleeve 72 is integral with both the ball 70 and the plate 64.
  • It is therefore clear that an angular displacement is possible between the rear arm 62 and the stirrup 54, around the ball 70.
  • The part of the bogie 6 situated on a rear side of the pivot axis A is situated entirely under the front bottom 32 of the body 4. The part of the bogie 6 extending in front of the pivot axis A extends first under the front bottom 32, then under the circulation passage 16 and finally extends partially under the rear bottom 34 of the previous car 2. The axle 38 located at the front extends substantially at the rear end of the previous car 2.
  • We see on the figure 4 that the ball joint 14 is located longitudinally under the circulation passage 16. The ball joint 14 is also located between the two axles 38 of the bogie, more precisely between the front axle 38 of the bogie and the pivot axis A, and again more specifically, between the front cross 46 and the front axle 38.
  • Vertically, the ball joint 14 is interposed between the bogie 6 and the floor of the connecting passage 16 and more precisely between the front axle 38 and the floor of the connecting passage 16.
  • The ball joint 14 is disposed at a vertical level less than or equal to that of the pivot connection means 8 relative to the running surface of the train.
  • The ball 70 of the ball joint 14 is disposed longitudinally at a distance of less than two meters from the axis A of the pivot connection means 8, and is preferably located one meter from the axis A of the pivot connection 8.
  • The train may comprise a car 2 provided with a pantograph arm 76 mounted on the roof of the body 4, this pantograph arm 76 being advantageously disposed at a front end of this roof, in line with the axis A pivot connecting means 8.
  • The train train described above has many advantages.
  • The ball joint 14 articulating a car 2 to the preceding car is shifted forward relative to the pivot connection means 8 of the car 2 on its bogie 6. Furthermore, the ball joint 14 is disposed at a level less than or equal to to that of the pivot connection means. It is thus possible to arrange the floor of the passage 16 vertically at the same level as the floor of the interior volume 18 of the car 2.
  • In the state of the prior art, the floor of the circulation passage 16 was disposed higher than the floor of the central part of the interior volume 18 of the car, since the ball joint was arranged above the pivot connection means, and under the circulation passage, as we see on the figure 1 .
  • This new arrangement of the ball joint 14 and pivot connection means 8 makes it possible to lower the level of the floor of the circulation passage 16 by approximately 125 mm compared to the state of the prior art.
  • It is possible to create a floor of equal level along all cars in the train, so that a passenger passing from one car to another no longer encounters a difference in level.
  • It should be noted that the fact of dissociating the ball joint connection of the pivot connection makes it possible to reduce the lateral space requirement of the cars in the curves. For a given car width, the car will protrude laterally from the rails a shorter distance as it travels a curve.
  • In another aspect, for a maximum transverse size determined in curve, it is possible to increase the transverse width of the body. For an offset of one meter between the ball joint and the pivot connection means, it is possible to gain about 35 mm over the width of the box.
  • Furthermore, because the pivot connection means 8 are arranged under the front part of the body 4, it is possible to implement the pantograph arm 76 vertically to the right pivot connection means 8. This arrangement simplifies the movement the pantograph arm with respect to the catenary 78.
  • Finally, the fact that the pivot connection means 8 are arranged under the front part of the box and no longer under the circulation passage 16 allows the dampers 42 to be directly resting on the front bottom 32 of the box 4.
  • The train train described above may have multiple variants without departing from the scope of the invention.
  • Thus, alternatively, a difference in elevation is formed between the floor of the interior volume of the body and the floor of passage of circulation, lowering jointly the levels of the two floors. This reduces the height of the steps to access the interior of the box from the dock.
  • Alternatively, the ball joint 14 between a car and the car in front of it is disposed under the rear bottom 34 of the car before rather than under the floor of the traffic passage connecting the two cars.
  • The bogie 6 of a car 2 may not be linked to the front bottom 32 of the body 4, but rather to the rear bottom 34 of the body. In this case, the front end of the car 2 is supported by the rear end of the car which precedes it via the ball joint 14.
  • The invention also applies to articulated train trains in which each car 2 is provided with two bogies 6, a bogie 6 located under the front end 32 of the body 4 and a bogie 6 located under the rear bottom 34 of the body 4. In this case, the ball joint 14 has the function of articulating one end of a car 2 with the end of the preceding car 2, but no longer has the function of supporting the end of one of the cars.
  • The train train described above may be electric or thermal propulsion.
  • The car provided with a ball joint 14 lowered in relation to its pivot connection 8 can be motorized (drive) or non-motorized. The motor can be arranged at the end of the train or in the intermediate position, between two non-motorized cars.

Claims (16)

  1. Articulated trainset comprising:
    - a plurality of cars (2) aligned longitudinally, each having front and rear longitudinal ends,
    - for each car (2), a ball linkage (14) between the front end of said car (2) and the rear end of the preceding car (2) in the alignment,
    each car (2) comprising a body (4), at least one bogie (6) on which the body (4) rests, and pivot linkage means (8) from the body (4) to the bogie (6),
    characterised in that the ball linkages (14) are arranged at a vertical level lower than or equal to the pivot linkage means (8) relative to the plane on which the trainset runs.
  2. Trainset according to claim 1, characterised in that the pivot linkage means (8) are such that the body (4) is mounted so as to pivot on the bogie (6) about an axis (A) perpendicular to the plane on which the trainset runs.
  3. Trainset according to claim 1 or 2, characterised in that each car (2) comprises a single bogie (6) supporting the front end of said car (2), the rear end of the car being supported by the front end of the following car (2) in the alignment by way of the ball linkage (14).
  4. Trainset according to claim 3, characterised in that it comprises, for each car (2), a gangway (16) bringing an interior space (18) of the body (4) of said car (2) into communication with an interior space (18) of the body (4) of the preceding car (2), the ball linkage (14) between the two cars (2) being arranged beneath the gangway (16).
  5. Trainset according to claim 4, characterised in that each body (4) has a stepped base (30) comprising front and rear bases (32, 34) located relatively higher vertically, relative to the plane on which the trainset runs, and a relatively lower central base (35).
  6. Trainset according to claim 5, characterised in that the pivot linkage means (8) are arranged beneath the front base (32).
  7. Trainset according to any one of claims 5 to 6, characterised in that the bogie (6) extends partly beneath the front base (32) and partly beneath the gangway (16), the ball linkage (14) being interposed vertically between the bogie (6) and the gangway (16).
  8. Trainset according to claim 7, characterised in that the bogie (6) of each car (2) extends partly beneath the rear base (34) of the body (4) of the preceding car (2).
  9. Trainset according to any one of claims 4 to 8, characterised in that the interior space (18) of each body (4) and the gangway (16) bringing that space into communication with the interior space (18) of the preceding body (4) are delimited at the lower side by respective floors extending at substantially the same level vertically relative to the plane on which the trainset runs.
  10. Trainset according to any one of the preceding claims, characterised in that each bogie (6) comprises two parallel transverse axles (38) spaced apart longitudinally, the ball linkage (14) being arranged between the two axles (38) longitudinally.
  11. Trainset according to any one of the preceding claims, characterised in that the ball linkage (14) from each car (2) to the preceding car (2) is arranged at a distance longitudinally of less than two metres from the pivot linkage means (8) between the body (4) and the bogie (6) of the car (2).
  12. Trainset according to any one of the preceding claims, characterised in that it includes a pantograph (76) capable of sliding along a catenary (78) and arranged above one of the cars (2), vertically in line with the pivot linkage means (8) of that car (2).
  13. Train car capable of forming part of an articulated trainset comprising a plurality of cars (2) aligned longitudinally, the car (2) comprising a body (4), at least one bogie (6) on which the body (4) rests, pivot linkage means (8) from the body (4) to the bogie (6), and ball linkage means (10) capable of co-operating with complementary ball linkage means (12) of the preceding car (2) in the alignment so that the cars (2) are linked by a ball linkage (14), characterised in that the ball linkage means (10) are arranged at a vertical level lower than or equal to the pivot linkage means (8) relative to the plane on which the car runs.
  14. Car according to claim 13, characterised in that it comprises at the front end a gangway section (20) capable of co-operating with a complementary gangway section (22) of the preceding car (2) so as to create a gangway (16) bringing into communication respective interior spaces (18) of the bodies (4) of the two cars (2), the ball linkage means (10) of the car (2) being arranged beneath the gangway (16).
  15. Car according to claim 14, characterised in that the body has a stepped base (30) comprising front and rear bases (32, 34) located relatively higher vertically, relative to the plane on which the trainset runs, and a relatively lower central base (35), the pivot linkage means (8) being arranged beneath the front base (32).
  16. Car according to claim 15, characterised in that the interior space (18) of the body (4) and the gangway section (20) are delimited at the lower side by respective floors extending at substantially the same level.
