Abstract

The present invention relates to a moon phase display mechanism comprising an upper disk, the moon dial (1), and a lower disk, concentrically mounted thereon, the moon disk (2). One of these discs (1, 2) is mounted so that it rotates relative to the other disc during the normal course of the mechanism. This other disc (1, 2) is mounted so that it is in a stationary position during the normal movement of the mechanism, but this position is adjustable by a rotational movement. Alternatively, the gear train of the drive of the rotating disc (1, 2) may be designed such that the sense of rotation of this disc is reversible. This makes it possible to take into account the different aspect of the moon phases at the latitudes of the earth, especially in the northern and southern hemisphere, in the display.
