Abstract

The invention relates to a method for drying laundry and to a laundry dryer for carrying out said method, comprising a drying chamber and process air conduct wherein a blower is arranged for conveying dry air through the drying chamber and a fresh air supply element and used air discharge element are arranged. Means for separating the dry air flow into a used air part and a circulating air part are provided in the process air conduct. The laundry dryer comprises sensors for detecting process parameters and the means for separating the dry air flow in order to modify the used air/circulating air are controlled according to the detected parameters. A sensor (20) detects the pressure of the process flow in the area (19) where the dry air enters the drying chamber (1) in order to prevent laundry damage from occurring if the dry air flow in the drying drum is interrupted and in order to obtain an optimum drying result. The invention relates to a method for drying laundry and a clothes dryer for carrying out the method with a drying chamber and a process air duct, in which a blower for conveying the dry air through the drying chamber and a heating device are arranged, the process air duct being designed with a fresh air supply and an exhaust air discharge and in the process air duct means for separating the dry air flow into an exhaust air component and a recirculated air component are arranged, the clothes dryer having sensors for recording process parameters and, depending on the detected parameters, controlling the means for separating the dry air flow for changing the exhaust air / recirculated air component he follows.

Such a method is known from DE 2220425 A1 for a clothes dryer with a water-cooled condenser. The dry air flow is guided through the process air duct with the blower, the heating device and the water-cooled condenser and through the drying chamber. The process air duct is designed with a fresh air supply and an exhaust air duct. As a means of separating the dry air flow into an exhaust air portion and a recirculating air portion, the process air duct has flaps which open or close the fresh air opening and the exhaust air opening in whole or in part. In a first drying section, in which the laundry is still wet or relatively moist, the dry air is conducted in a closed circuit. The flaps are closed in this first drying section. In the further course of drying, the tumble dryer can be operated in a partially open circuit after a predetermined degree of drying of the laundry has been reached. Part of the dry air is returned to the drying chamber as part of the recirculated air and part as part of the exhaust air from the device. The residual moisture content in the laundry is evaluated as a process parameter for controlling the flaps. In this drying section, the water-cooled condenser remains switched on and the flaps partially open their openings to the fresh air inlet or exhaust air outlet. If the laundry has reached an advanced level of dryness, it is intended to switch off the condenser and to operate the tumble dryer as an exhaust air dryer with the fresh air supply open and the exhaust air opening open.

DE 200 10728 U1 discloses a tumble dryer with a circulating air arrangement, in which the heater, blower and a circulating air box with a controllable flap for setting an exhaust air / circulating air portion of the dry air are combined to form a structural unit and are arranged on the top of the tumble dryer. With this tumble dryer, the operating mode exhaust air / recirculating air or the position of the flap for the exhaust air / recirculating air portion must be done manually to get voted. A control of the flap depending on process parameters is not provided.

In addition, a tumble dryer (Miele T 6251) with a constantly set exhaust air / recirculation system is known, in which part of the drying air is passed back into the drying chamber as recirculating air over the entire drying process. As a drying chamber, this tumble dryer has a rotatably mounted drying drum with a drum volume of 250 liters. The drying drum is followed by a process air guide section with a filter device, which is referred to as a filter chamber. The blower area with the blower is arranged after the filter chamber. On the pressure side of the fan, a baffle is arranged in the direction of flow, which divides the air flow into the exhaust air component and the recirculating air component. The exhaust air portion is led out of the device via the exhaust air opening. The circulating air portion is mixed with fresh air, which is sucked in through the fresh air opening due to the negative pressure in the drying drum. The fresh air portion and the recirculated air portion are warmed up again via the heating and fed again into the drying drum. At the beginning of the drying process, the still wet, heavy laundry is optimally moved in the air flow in the drying drum. At the end of the drying process, the laundry fills the drying drum almost completely. Due to the arrangement and design as well as the dimensioning of the blower for a large-volume drying drum, the laundry items can be sucked in at the air outlet of the drying drum. When drying duvets, pillows and down comforters, the laundry can be sucked before the drying air escapes from the drying drum due to the negative pressure and when the laundry filling is at an advanced level of dryness. This problem can also arise when drying airtight textiles e.g. B. Outdoor clothing occur. Due to the textiles adhering to the suction opening, the air flow through the drying drum is interrupted and the laundry in the drum overheats or does not dry gently.

The invention thus presents the problem of avoiding laundry damage which can occur as a result of an interruption in the drying air flow in the drying drum and of achieving an optimal drying result.

According to the invention, this problem is solved by a method with the features of claim 1 and a clothes dryer for carrying out the method with the features of claim 3. Advantageous refinements and developments of the invention result from the following subclaims.

The advantages that can be achieved with the invention consist in particular in that an interruption of the dry air flow by textiles that partially or completely block the air path can be recognized immediately by direct monitoring of the pressure conditions or the pressure curve in the drying chamber. Depending on the recorded Values, the proportion of recirculated air in the dry air is reduced or set to zero and the drying process is continued with a reduced volume flow. This reduces the suction effect on the textiles and the airway is released again. In an advantageous development of the method according to the invention, it is provided to reduce or switch off the heating output as a function of the reduced volume flow through the drying drum.

The advantages achievable with the invention also consist in particular in that the pressure sensor is directly assigned to the drying chamber. The pressure sensor is advantageously arranged in the area of the air inlet opening to the drying chamber, as a result of which it is possible to react directly to the pressure conditions present in the drying chamber. Depending on the pressure value recorded, the dry air volume flow in the drying chamber is reduced by actuating a shut-off damper arranged in the process air duct for the circulating air path of the circulating air portion in the dry air. The air circulation path can be completely or partially closed. As a result, the suction effect on the textiles adhering to the suction opening or the air outlet opening is reduced and these fall back into the drying chamber. It has proven to be advantageous to continue the drying process afterwards with the reduced dry air volume flow in order to avoid a further interruption of the dry air flow through the textiles. Depending on the reduced volume flow, it is advantageous to likewise reduce the heating power or switch it off entirely.

The fresh air portion and the recirculated air portion are heated again via the heater (17) arranged in the heating duct section (16) of the dry air duct and are conducted again into the drying drum (1). A further sealing arrangement (18) is arranged between the heating duct section (16) and the rotating drying drum (1). In the space between the fixed heating duct section (16) and the rotating drying drum (1), a pressure sensor (20) is arranged in the air inlet area (19) of the drying air to the drying drum (1), which detects the pressure curve in the drying drum (1).
