Definitions
- the present invention relates to a door, in particular for a household appliance, which is equipped with heat-insulating glazing with at least two panes delimiting an intermediate space.
- a refrigerator with an insulated glass door is e.g. known from US-A-5 622 414.
- the door of this refrigeration device is essentially constructed from two glass plates which are held at a fixed distance from one another by spacers, of which the outer part protrudes a little way beyond the inner part in an edge region in order to create a surface for a hinge to swing up the door.
- the spacer is also extended beyond the edge of the inner plate in order to form a contact surface to which a plate of the hinge can be screwed. Since the hinge plate and the spacer generally have to be made of metal for reasons of mechanical stability, the door has a poor thermal insulation effect in this edge region. There is therefore a risk of condensation forming on the outside of this poorly insulated area of the door, which, if not removed, can lead to damage.
- condensation water could be avoided by electrical heating with the help of heating wires attached to the surface of the outer glass plate, but such a heating increases both the manufacturing costs of the device and, due to increased heat input, precisely at a weak point in the thermal insulation, the power consumption of the device during operation and thus its operating costs.
- a heat insulating door for a domestic appliance with the features of the preamble of claim 1 is known.
- this door comprises a sheet metal frame that is flush on the outside with a front glass plate and into which a viewing opening is cut.
- a first inner pane is held on the inside of the front glass plate by a spacer profile.
- a second inner pane is arranged in the viewing opening.
- the object of the invention is to provide a door with a simplified structure which is better than this known door for use on a refrigerator.
- the sealing strip is preferably compressible.
- An additional measure to improve the insulating effect of the door is the subdivision of the frame into an outer frame part, which can consist of metal in a conventional manner, an inner frame part adjacent to the inner pane and a thermal insulation element connecting the two frame parts.
- the sealing strip is expediently attached between the inner frame part and the inner pane.
- the thermal insulation element is preferably a plastic element, in particular a plastic profile, which positively engages in grooves of at least the outer frame part. In order to ensure a secure cohesion between the frame part and the insulation element, the grooves are at least locally undercut.
- a particularly high insulation effect can be achieved with a thermal insulation element designed as a hollow profile.
- the frame does not extend beyond the edge of the outer pane, so that it is not visible to an observer looking at the door from the front, and the impression is given that the door is essentially through the outer disc is formed.
- the frame is preferably connected to the outer pane by gluing.
- the outer pane is provided with an opaque decoration, at least in its edge region.
- the decor is preferably attached to the surface of the outer pane facing the inner pane.
- a flexible sealing profile which is provided in order to lie airtight on the body of the household appliance when a closed door is mounted on a household appliance and thus to seal the interior thereof, is preferably held in a groove in the frame which is at least limited by the inner frame part and the thermal insulation element ,
- a good insulation effect with a small thickness of the door can be achieved if the inner frame part, the thermal insulation element and the outer frame part not or not only in the thickness direction of the door, but above all transversely to it, in a plane parallel to the inner pane, from the inside adjoin to the outside.
- Figure 1 is a perspective view of a wine storage cabinet as an example of a household appliance with a door according to the invention.
- Fig. 2 shows a section through an edge region of the door and adjacent parts of the body of a refrigerator.
- Fig. 1 shows a perspective view of a bottle storage cabinet as an example of a refrigerator with a door according to the invention.
- the body 1 of the bottle storage cabinet can be free-standing or, as shown here, can be designed as a built-in model. While in most built-in refrigeration units, the front of the door is covered by a furniture panel in the installed state, the door 2 of the device shown here is provided in order to remain freely visible in the installed state.
- the outside of the door is formed by a glass plate 3 which is glued to a metal frame 4 on its rear side.
- a metal frame 4 On the frame 4, two hinge brackets 5 are attached to the body 1, of which only the upper one can be seen in the figure.
- An inner glass plate 6 (see FIG. 2), the edges of which are surrounded by the frame 4, forms an insulating glazing together with the outer glass plate 3.
- the interior of the body 1 is visible through this; a plurality of bottle carriers 7 are arranged therein, each of which is formed by front and rear horizontal carriers 8 and cylindrical segment-shaped shells 9 suspended between the carriers.
- a handle 10 attached to the outer glass plate 3 is screwed through two holes in the glass plate 3 in the frame 4.
- the outer glass plate 3 is here connected to an outer frame part 12 of the frame 4 via an adhesive layer 11.
- the outer frame part 12 is composed of four extruded sections, for example made of aluminum, which each extend along an edge region of the outer plate 3.
- the inner glass plate 6 is connected to the outer glass plate 3 via a spacer element 26, which can be, for example, an aluminum profile, as is known from window construction for buildings, and the two glass plates 3, 6 are hermetically sealed by gluing or cementing connects with each other.
- the two glass plates 3, 6 and the spacer element 26 can be preassembled using techniques known from insulating glass window construction, and the space between the glass plates 3, 6 can be filled with a known gas with better insulating properties than air.
- an opaque decor 27 e.g. by screen printing, which extends from the edge of the pane 3 inwards to beyond the spacer element 26 in order to hide this and the frame 4 on the fully assembled door.
- two laterally undercut grooves 17 are formed, in each of which a web of a hollow profile 28 made of plastic engages in a positive and non-positive manner.
- the hollow profile 28 creates a rigid connection to an inner frame part 19, which is provided in the same way with grooves 17, into which webs of the hollow profile 28 engage.
- the hollow profile 28 is essentially responsible for the thermal insulation effect, which here, on the one hand due to its small cross-sectional area and on the other hand because it consists of a poorly heat-conducting plastic, represents a considerable heat transfer resistance.
- a further contribution to the insulation effect comes from the fact that the inner frame part 19 and the outer frame part 12 are hollow profile elements in which heat transfer is essentially only possible along the walls.
- the inner frame part 19 is here separated from the inner glass plate 6 by a gap which is filled by a circumferential foam strand 29.
- the foam strand 29 has, on its side facing the glass plate 6, a plurality of easily deformable ribs 30 which closely seal against the glass plate 6.
- the strand 29 is anchored to the inner frame part 19 by a projection 31, which engages positively in an undercut groove of the frame part 19. The strand blocks heat transfer by air flow between the back of the outer pane 3 and the interior of the storage cabinet.
- a direct contact of cold air from the interior of the storage cabinet with the hollow profile 28 and the outer frame part 12 is prevented by a flexible seal 23.
- the seal 23 is anchored in a groove 32 which is formed on the one hand by the inner frame part 19 and on the other hand by a rib 33 projecting from the hollow profile 28 towards the body 1 and thickened at the end.
- the seal 23 is filled with ferromagnetic material in a manner known per se, so that it clings tightly to the front of the body 1 by magnetic force when the door is closed.
- the magnetic seal 23 has a flexible tongue 34 which, when the door 2 is closed, clings to the rear of the entire length of the outer frame part 12 and thus closes a cavity 35 between the rib 33 and the outer frame part 12 in an airtight manner and thereby additionally to the thermal insulation effect the door contributes in the area of the seal 23.
- the inner frame part 19 Since the inner frame part 19 has no load-bearing function and is not exposed to strong mechanical loads, it can be made quite thin-walled, which also improves its insulating effect, or it can be made of comparatively better insulating plastic material instead of metal. Another possible modification is to form the inner frame part 19 in one piece with the hollow profile 28 made of plastic.
