Description

The invention relates to a saddle stitcher stapler having a stapling machine, an output stage progressively loaded with the leaflets, a cutting plane defining front cutting blade assembly for trimming the booklets along a respective desired cutting line and transporting components which operatively transport the booklets from the dispensing station to the front cutting blade assembly.

Such saddle stitchers were sold by Brehmer Buchbindereimaschinen GmbH, Leipzig under the type designation ST300 and are designed so that the brochures transported to the stapling and subsequent provision in the output station in the longitudinal direction of the backs of the brochures and handed over in the output station by means of an ejector to delivery belts which convey the brochures then transversely to their previous direction of transport, in the direction of a trimmer, in which there is first a leading edge cut and then a head cut and a foot cut.

Such a saddle stitcher is also in the EP 0 962 334 A1 disclosed.

As a result of this change in the transport direction, the width of the brochures becomes a process-relevant geometric parameter, which is taken into account by corresponding adjustments of the phase positions of the machine components affected by this parameter. This results in a considerable effort to convert a saddle stitcher for a job change, in which in particular also changes the width of the brochures.

The invention is therefore based on the object, a saddle stitcher mentioned above in such a way that the conversion costs reduced in a job change, in which the width of the brochures changed.

To solve this problem, sensors are provided which emit the phase positions of the stapler and one of the means of transport components defining signals, and a control processing these signals, which controls one of the transport components such that at a predetermined phase angle of the stapler, the respective target cutting line independently from the width of each brochure in the cutting plane.

This saves on a job change in which changes the width of the brochures, an adjustment of the phase angle of the drive for the front cutting blade assembly and also provides the advantage that in the case of a common drive for the stapler and the Vorderschnittmesseranordnung always consistent load profile of this drive results and that this drive can be designed for the special load profile. This prevents possible malfunctions and counteracts performance restrictions.

The features of the invention are set forth below with reference to the accompanying drawings. In this case, a preferred embodiment is used, in which as the driven transport component, an ejector drive provided in the output station Broschurenauswerfers is provided.

The delivery station 29 comprises a brochure ejector 29.2, indicated in FIG. 2a, with an ejector blade 29.3 and delivery belts 29.1. The ejector blade 29.3 periodically intervenes in the respective fold break of the stapled copies 32, lifts them out of the transport and stapling line 22 and transfers them to the delivery slips 29.1, by means of which the stapled copies 32 are transported further in the direction of the arrow T, namely in the direction of a trimming device 31, in which the stapled copies 32 first one in the FIGS. 3a and 3b indicated front cutting blade assembly 31.1 are supplied, which defines a cutting plane 31.2 and is provided for trimming the trailing ends of the brochures 30 along a desired cutting line 31.5.

For the operation of Borschurenauswerfers 29.2 a reversing ejector 29.4 is provided which impresses the Broschurenauswerfer 29.2, more precisely the ejector blade 29.3, a periodic ejection movement.

From the stitching station 24 upstream with respect to the transport direction according to the arrow P, a measuring station 33 is provided, in which the thickness of the brochures 30 to be stapled is determined.

The continuous conveyor 34 is formed in the present embodiment as an endless operationally circulating collecting chain, are arranged on which driver 34.2, which in this case astride the collecting chain passed signatures 16, 18, 20 and finally push the books to be stapled 30 in front of him.

In this section ends a Transporttrum 34.1 designed as a gathering chain continuous conveyor 34 and the further transport of the brochures 30 is carried out stepwise by means of a operationally oscillating Fingerleistensystems 36. This is shown in Fig. 2a only schematically. It comprises an anvil strip 36.1 for undertaking the brochures 30 to be stapled and a finger bar 36.2 oscillating together with the anvil strip 36.1. At the finger bar 36.2 controllable fingers 36.3 are arranged. The fingers 36.3 are controllable insofar as they are pivoted in the direction of the anvil strip 36.1 and in the opposite direction by means of an articulated connection 36.6 on the finger bar 36.2, biased in the pivoting direction on the anvil strip 36.1 and under the action of a operationally with the double arrow in FIG 2a indicated lifting movement exporting control bar 36.4 in particular from the anvil bar 36.1 pivotally away are. The fingers 36.3 are at their control bar 36.4 facing ends preferably provided with freely rotatable rollers 36.5, which roll in an adjustment of the control bar 36.4 in the direction of the finger bar 36.2 or in the opposite direction on the control bar 36.4.

For the oscillating movement of the finger strip system 36 this is hinged to a coupling of a linkage 38, which in turn is driven by means of a crank mechanism 40. The drive means provided for actuating the crank mechanism 40 and thus for the oscillating movement of the finger strip system 36 are represented in the present embodiment by a stapler drive 42 which is also provided for actuating the stitching heads 26 (see FIG. 2b).

The stapler drive 42 also serves to drive the investors 10, 12, 14 via a common drive shaft 15 and the trimming device 31 (see Fig. 2b).

In any case, in the extended position of the crank mechanism 40 and at least up to a certain crank angle - 16 degrees in the present embodiment - the anvil strip 36.1 and the finger bar 36.2 on the one hand and the Transporttrum 34.1 of the continuous conveyor 34 overlaps, so that the anvil strip 36.1 a correct position on the Transporttrum 34.1 located booklet 30 and fingers 36.3 of the finger strip 36.2 can be pressed with the control bar 36.4 off the brochure 30 against the anvil strip 36.1. This is done at matching speeds of the finger strip system 36 and the continuous conveyor 34 - in the present embodiment at a crank angle of 16 degrees, thus defining a gripping point. The fingers 36.3 remain pressed until reaching the top layer of the crank mechanism 40 to the acquired brochure 30. Here then zero crossing of the speed of the finger strip system 36 is then a storage of the brochure 30 on the transport and stitching line 22 in a storage point.

After zero crossing of the speed of the finger strip system 36 in the top layer of the crank mechanism 40, the finger strip system 36 reverses its direction of movement and finally takes a crank angle 0 degrees corresponding overlapped position with the Transporttrum 34.1 of the continuous conveyor 34, that is the starting point for a another cycle of the type described above.

The finger strip system 36 thus transports a taken over by the continuous conveyor 34 brochure step by step with a step length corresponding to a distance that is covered in the gripping point beginning to reach the storage point.

A leaflet 30 taken over by the continuous conveyor 34 in one cycle of the finger strip system 36 and deposited on the transport and stapling line 22 after a first step is again grasped by the finger strip system 36 in the following cycle and transported a further time by the mentioned step length. For a particular brochure 30, this process is repeated until it has reached the output station 29 after stapling. On this basis, the brochures are fed by means of transport of the trimming device 31. In any case, the means of transport comprise the booklet ejector 29.2 with a discharge drive 29.4 and a trimmer feed 31.3.

After completing the lifting of the brochures 30 from the transport and stitching line 22, the further transport of the brochures 30 is first carried out by means of the Auslegebänder 29.1, and that across the previously determined by the continuous conveyor 34 and the finger strip system 36 transport direction. The delivery belts 29.1 hand over a respective brochure of the trimmer supply 31.3 (see FIG. 2b) which delivers the brochures 30 at uniform speed to the trimming device 31 -not shown here-transport and alignment belts which clock and rotate at a speed which is greater than those of the brochures 30 in the trimmer feeder 31.3 and which align the spine of a respective brochure 30 with a stop 31.4 such that the desired cutting line 31.5 lies in the cutting plane 31.2 (see FIG Fig. 3a . 3b ).

This state is the subject of the invention both in the trimming of wide brochures 30 as well as the trimming of narrow brochures 30 ', d. H. regardless of the width of the booklet is always achieved at one and the same phase angle of the stapler 28.

In order to achieve this, in the case of the embodiment based here, by means of a controller 48 (see FIG Fig. 4 ) ensured that the brochures 30, 30 'depending on their width at different phase angles of the stapler 28 on the part of the ejector blade 29.3 from the transport and stapling line 22 are excavated. In this case, the phase angle of the stapler 28 at the time of lifting a brochure 30, 30 'from the transport and stapling line 22 is the larger the smaller the width of the brochure 30, 30' and it is chosen so that upon reaching a certain first phase angle φB after lifting the booklet 30, 30 'from the transport and stapling line 22, the trailing edges of the brochures 30, 30' only depending on the width of the strip 31.6 to be separated from the brochures 30, 30 'and the speed ratios of the trimmer feed 31.3 and provided on the trimming device 31 Transport and Ausrichtbänder are substantially in one and the same location, and that after reaching a relation to the first larger second phase angle φC, the desired cutting line 31.5 regardless of the width of the brochure 30, 30 'in the cutting plane 31.2 (see FIGS. 3a and 3b ).

To implement this, a corresponding control of the ejector 29.4 takes place by the controller 48, which processes the signals emitted by sensors 46 for outputting a corresponding drive signal, which define the phase positions of the stapler 28, more precisely the stapler drive 42, and the ejector drive (see Fig. 4 ).

Although the above explanations are taken as the driven transport component of the booklet ejector 29.2 or its ejector drive 29.4, it is within the scope of the invention, for example, to control the trimmer feed 31.3 so that at a predetermined phase angle of the stapler 28 the desired cutting line 31.5 of a respective brochure 30 , 30 'is independent of the width of the leaflets 30, 30' in the cutting plane 31.2.
