Abstract

The containers for the packaging are made by a deep drawing process. Packaging material is drawn from a roll (R) and the web or foil (PB) passes through a heating station (I) followed by a deep drawing station (II). This is followed by a filling station (III), a closure station (IV) and a singling station (V). The cleaner (1) is mounted on a carriage (2) moving along the production line on a longitudinal rail (6). It carries a cleaning lance (3) with a spray head (4).

Description

The invention relates to packaging machines for producing, filling and separating packaging from at least one continuously fed packaging material web that is fed through processing stations of the machine, the packaging machine being assigned at least one cleaning device on the side.

Packaging machines of this generally defined type are well known and in use and thus relate, for example, to so-called thermoforming machines as well as to machines for the production of packaging bags and, in this respect, to machines that are operated under normal conditions and under sterile conditions. In this respect, packaging machines are also to be included, to which finished packaging containers that are still open for filling and that have to be closed after filling, for example in cup form, are continuously fed as packaging material.
If the filling material is in particular liquid to pasty, such machines must be cleaned thoroughly and if necessary after the end of an operating phase, usually also after an interruption in operation and in particular also when changing products. also be subjected to sterilization, the filling material dispensers of modern machines per se being designed in such a way that they can be automatically rinsed, which requires the placement of a suitably designed washing-up liquid collecting tray in this processing station. The separating or punching stations at the end of deep-drawing machines, which also represent finishing stations, are particularly critical, in which, for example, filled and covered individual cups or groups of cups are punched out, which as a rule is associated with waste to be removed, i.e., so-called waste stars, which occasionally occur in stow the appropriately trained stamping dies.
Apart from the automatic cleaning or rinsing of the dosing stations, it remains unavoidable, due to, for example, spilled contents, as a rule when the is removed Pressurized drip pans to thoroughly clean the entire ambience of the processing line by hand, whereby ambience also means, for example, the inner walls of a sterile tunnel if the packaging machine is to be operated under sterile conditions. The punching die of the punching station must also be cleaned by hand. The thoroughness of manual cleaning depends, of course, on the care of the operator who is entrusted with it, ie it is inevitable that areas of the ambience are overlooked or treated unevenly, not to mention that thorough manual cleaning , as mentioned, is associated with a considerable and in this respect also costly expenditure of time.
In addition, cleaning by hand cannot take place parallel to the automatic cleaning of the filling containers, since manual intervention in the machine may only be carried out with machine units switched off.
If packaging machines of the type mentioned at the outset are equipped with cleaning devices, reference is thus made to DE-A-689 05 158 T2. The cleaning device consists of a slide that is horizontally displaceable in the machine cover housing and equipped with several freely adjustable nozzles and is particularly intended for washing and cleaning prefabricated, tubular packaging containers, but also for washing machine parts that can be detected and the inside of the cover housing. Such a cleaning device replaces a time-consuming, manual cleaning, but due to the special design of the nozzle-equipped carriage, it is taken into account from the outset that only a more or less large part of the existing machine elements and spaces can be detected. For this reason, it is therefore considered to provide additional stationary flushing nozzles in areas that cannot be detected. The nozzles on the slide are freely adjustable, once set, but to a certain extent it remains a more or less untargeted, all-round shower process with a correspondingly high consumption of detergent.

The invention is therefore based on the object to improve packaging machines of the type mentioned, that is to say those which are equipped with an automatic cleaning device, as explained above, to the effect that the automatic cleaning process is more targeted, therefore more thorough, efficient and without additional arrangement stationary nozzles can be carried out in certain areas.

This object is achieved on packaging machines of the type mentioned according to the invention in that the cleaning device is formed from a cleaning lance mounted on a carrier and controlled in several degrees of freedom, at the free end of which a cleaning lance such as air, steam, water is provided through the lance , Sterilizing agent, cleaning head can be loaded under pressure.

"Laterally assigned" is to be understood in the broadest sense that, depending on the type of machine, the assignment on one side or the other, if necessary. but can also be provided above the processing station in question or wherever appropriate.
Furthermore, “several degrees of freedom of movement” is to be understood to mean that the lance and thus its cleaning head can be adjusted and adjusted to the areas to be cleaned by rotation, displacement and raising and lowering. can be moved during spraying over a certain area, that these areas can be brushed by the detergent sprayed under pressure, and finally "at least one cleaning device" means that such a cleaning device can be assigned to each processing station in need of cleaning.
Such a cleaning device, which can be assigned to a packaging machine and can be moved in a controlled manner in several degrees of freedom, fulfills the demands made, ie the entire cleaning process is automated independently of the person, and is therefore more uniform and, in this respect, more thorough and thus ultimately also less time and less costly.

Vorteilhafte Weiterbildungen bestehen in Folgendem:Advantageous further training consists of the following:

The cleaning head mentioned is equipped with at least one replaceable nozzle, so that a cleaning agent-specific nozzle can be used.

However, the cleaning head can advantageously also be equipped with a plurality of nozzles, each of which can be fed separately with different cleaning agents, the supply of the other nozzles being switched off depending on the cleaning agent to be sprayed.

At the expense of a greater outlay on the one hand, a cleaning device can also be assigned to each processing station of the machine requiring cleaning, but on the other hand this permits an even more specific adaptation of the cleaning device to the structural and functional conditions of the respective processing station.

Since associated with a considerably reduced expenditure on equipment, however, an embodiment is preferred in that the lance carrier is mounted on a guide rail arranged along the machine extension and can be moved from one processing station to the other in need of cleaning.

If the packaging machine is a sterile machine, its so-called sterile tunnel is provided with a closable lance opening in the area of each processing station that needs cleaning, whereby it can advantageously be considered to include the actuation of the opening closure in the automatic control system of the whole.

The packaging machine according to the invention and its advantageous developments are explained in more detail below on the basis of the exemplary embodiment in a preferred embodiment of a deep-drawing machine.

I folgende Bearbeitungsstationen BA nachgeordnet:1 shows a side view of a packaging machine in, for example, an embodiment of a deep-drawing machine with its various processing stations BA and a cleaning device 1, which is illustrated solely in side view and schematically in FIG. The following processing stations BA are arranged downstream of the supply roll R of a packaging material web PB which is continuously clocked through the machine, following a film preheating station I:

A deep-drawing station II, two filling stations III arranged one behind the other, a closing station IV and a punching station V for separating individual packs or pack groups, which are not specifically shown here. For the sake of simplicity, stations II, IV and V are shown with the same symbols, which also applies to FIGS. 3 to 6 to be explained.

For a packaging machine also of this type, for example, it is now essential according to the invention that the cleaning device 1 (see FIG. 2) is formed from a cleaning lance 3 mounted on a carrier 2 and controlled in several degrees of freedom, at the free end 3 'of which through the lance 3 with cleaning agents such as air, steam, water, sterilizing agent, cleaning head 4 which can be loaded under pressure. Except for the freedom roughly indicated by arrows P in Fig. 2 The actual lance carrier 2 'can also be rotated with respect to the carrier lower part 2 "and, if necessary, also adjustable in inclination, which ultimately depends on the structural conditions of the respective packaging machine equipped with such a cleaning device 1.

For the supply of cleaning agent and its supply line to the lance 3 or to the cleaning head 4 there are, for example, a storage container 20, a pump 21 and a corresponding supply line 22, for example insofar as compressed air, steam and. water from correspondingly available supply networks can also be supplied directly and under pressure to the lance 3 via the feed line 22.
As shown in FIG. 2, the cleaning head 4 is equipped with an exchangeable nozzle 5, but can also be loaded with several cleaning agents that can be fed separately

Nozzles 5 can be fitted, to which a plurality of separate lines 22 then lead to and through the lance 3, which is not particularly shown, since it is readily conceivable. For the same reason, the required and controllable valves are not particularly shown.

A cleaning device 1 can be assigned to each of the above-mentioned processing stations BA, i.e. the stations II to V that require cleaning, but this is associated with considerable expenditure on equipment. This possibility is also not particularly shown, or results indirectly from FIGS. 3 to 6, although the cleaning devices 1 shown there are always the same.

With reference to FIG. 1 and these aforementioned FIGS. 3 to 6, in a preferred embodiment the carrier 2 of the lance 3 is mounted on a guide rail 6 arranged along the machine extension and can be moved on this from one processing station BA in need of cleaning to another by suitable drive means.

If it is a packaging machine to be operated under sterile conditions, that is to say the processing line BS (FIG. 1) is covered with a sterile tunnel 7 (see the highly schematic FIG. 7), then this sterile tunnel 7 is in the area of each processing station BA that requires cleaning a closable lance engagement opening 8. If the opening closures 8 'are not to be opened by hand before the start of machine cleaning, their opening and closing could be included in the cleaning program controller 9, which is connected to the machine controller MS according to FIG. 8 also shows, in a highly simplified manner, a further advantageous embodiment in that a control sensor system 10 is arranged on the cleaning head 4 or on the end region 3 'of the cleaning lance 3.

Starting from the cleaning device 1 in the neutral position, for example next to the preheating station I (see FIG. 3), which as a rule does not require any cleaning, the device runs the entire machine in accordance with the cleaning program and cleans its processing stations BA precisely and repeatedly.

For the initial start-up, the cleaning device 1 or the cleaning robot is familiarized or programmed once with the geometry of the machine to be cleaned in order to avoid collisions between the robot or lance and the machine. Appropriate sensors or the transfer of virtual machine geometry from a 3D CAD system would also be conceivable.

The cleaning program also includes, of course, all parameters relevant to the processing stations for their cleaning, i.e., for example, taking into account structural-geometric conditions for the movements of the cleaning head 4 into and within the processing station, selection and approval of the cleaning agent to be used for the processing station, dwell times of the cleaning head , 4 for certain areas etc.

In this regard, reference is also made to FIGS. 4 to 6, for example in the punching station V according to FIG. 4 a slightly different grid is to be moved from the nozzle 5 operated with compressed air than in the area of the filling station III according to FIG. 6 or any other also parts of the machine itself to be cleaned, such as guide rails FS according to Fig. 5.
