Abstract

Built-in oven comprising an oven cavity (12) disposed in an outer housing (22). Between the oven cavity (12) and the outer housing (22) at least one channel (28) is formed for a cooling air stream driven by a cooling fan (24), the oven cavity (12), at least partly, being surrounded by a heat insulating material (20) selected so as to have also sound attenuating properties. The channel (28) is formed along at least one wall (14) of the oven cavity (12) by two bound walls (30, 32) which are disposed at a distance from one another and extend over a major part of the width of the channel, an upper one (30) of said walls being unbroken while a lower one (32), which connects to the heat insulating material (20), is perforated for attenuation of noise caused by the fan and the air stream. Alternatively, the lower bound wall (32) can have the form of a thin easily movable foil.

Description

Arrangement in a built-in oven
The present invention refers to a built-in oven comprising an oven cavity disposed in an outer housing, wherein between said oven cavity and the outer housing at least one channel is formed for a cooling air stream driven by a cooling fan and, further, at least partly, said oven cavity is surrounded by a heat insulating material.
In the built-in oven referred to, having a common design, the cooling air stream itself and the fan generate sound that can be felt boisterous. Accordingly, it is an object of the invention to design the parts of a built-in oven that generates and transports cooling air such as to effect a reduction of the noise. The object is achieved in a built-in oven having the features indicated in the appending claim 1. Preferred embodiments are included in the sub-claims connected to claim 1.
The invention will now be described more in detail in connection with an embodiment with reference to the appending drawings, in which Fig. 1 schematically shows a side view, in section, of a built-in oven according to the invention and Fig. 2, also schematically, shows a top view, partly in section.
Fig. 1 schematically shows a side view of the upper part of a built-in oven 10. The oven comprises an oven cavity 12 formed by bound walls, an upper bound wall 14 and a rear bound wall 16 being shown. The oven cavity 12 can be closed by means of a door 18 disposed at the front of the oven. The outside of the oven cavity 12 is insulated by means of a heat insulating material, for example in the form of a mat of mineral wool or glass wool. This material is selected so as to have sound damping properties as well. The insulation facing the upper bound wall 14 is denoted by 20.
The oven cavity 12 is disposed in an outer housing, generally denoted by 22. For the cooling of the outer walls of the cavity and electronic equipment as well as a control panel 25, disposed at the oven front and provided with control knobs or the like, a fan 24 is provided in a fan housing 26 integrated with an air channel 28. The air channel 28 is formed by an upper wall 30 and a lower wall 32 interconnected by side walls 34, 36. The fan is mounted in the fan housing 28 with its axis of rotation in a vertical direction and an air inlet 37 is directed upwards. As seen from above in Fig. 2, the air channel 28 has the shape of a triangle and widens symmetrically from the fan and towards an outlet opening 38 disposed at the oven front where the width of the air channel mainly equals the width of the oven. As seen from the side (Fig. 1) the air channel 28 gets narrower from the fan and towards the outlet opening 38. The upper wall 30 of the air channel 28 and the side walls 34, 36 are made from a material which completely closes the air channel from these sides. The lower wall 32, however, is arranged to transmit sound, for example by being provided with perforations in the form of a plurality of holes 40 permitting the air channel 28 to be in contact with the insulating material below over mainly the whole of its surface. Alternatively, the lower wall 32 can have the form of a thin easily movable foil. As a result the noise appearing in the air channel will be transmitted into the insulating material to be attenuated instead of being, completely un- attenuated, let-out together with the air flow through the outlet opening 38. The invention is not restricted to the embodiment described above and shown in the drawings. Accordingly, within the scope of the appending claims the design of the perforations, such as hole geometry, hole dimension, the degree of perforation and the positioning thereof can be varied. Moreover, a different type and positioning of the fan can be chosen as well as the shape the air channel 28. The air stream can have the opposite direction as to the one described and the insulating material can be disposed differently, for example at the upper side of the channel or along the side walls thereof, wherein the channel wall adjacent to the insulating material is arranged to transmit sound.

Built-in oven (10) comprising an oven cavity (12) disposed in an outer housing (22) , wherein between the oven cavity (12) and the outer housing (22) at least one channel (28) is formed for a cooling air stream driven by a cooling fan (24), the oven cavity (12), at least partly, being surrounded by a heat insulating material (20) , characterized in that the heat insulating material (20) has also sound attenuating properties and that the channel (28) along at least one wall (14) of the oven cavity (12) is formed by two bound walls (30, 32) which are disposed at a distance from one another and extend over a major part of the width of the channel, a first one (30) of said walls being unbroken while a second one (32), which connects to the heat insulating material (20), is designed to transmit noise caused by the fan (24) and the air stream, respectively, into the insulating material to be attenuated. Arrangement according to claim 1, characterized in that the second bound wall (32) is provided with a plurality of holes (40) . Arrangement according to claim 2, characterized in that the second bound wall (32) has a high degree of perforation. Arrangement according to claim 1, characterized in that the second bound wall (32) has the shape of a thin foil. Arrangement according to any of the preceding claims, characterized in that the oven cavity (12) has an upper wall (14) and a rear wall (16) and that the fan (24) is disposed adjacent to the transition between the upper wall (14) and the rear wall (16) and has an outlet directed towards the channel (28) which conveys the air towards an air outlet (38) disposed at the oven front. Arrangement according to any of the preceding claims, characterized in that the distance between the first and second bound walls (30, 32) converges from the fan (24) and towards the air outlet (38) Arrangement according to any of the preceding claims, characterized in that the channel (28) formed by the first and second bound walls (30, 32) widens continuously in the direction towards the air outlet (38) where the channel (28) extends mainly along the full width of the oven.
