Definitions
- the invention relates to a printed document of value having at least one authenticity feature in the form of a luminescent substance on the basis of specific host lattices which interact with certain chromophores of the electron configuration (3d) 2 . are doped.
- value document in the context of the invention banknotes, checks, shares, tokens, identity cards, credit cards, passports and other documents as well as labels, seals, packaging or other elements for product assurance to understand.
- the luminescent substances can be detected by appropriate eye excitation. For some applications this is desirable, e.g. in the authenticity check by illumination with UV light. For other applications, however, it is advantageous if the emission is outside the visible spectral range, since then special detectors for detecting the substances are necessary.
- luminophores with characteristic properties which are suitable for securing value documents and, in particular, for automatic authenticity recognition are limited in their number.
- Most inorganic and organic luminophores have uncharacteristic, broad spectra and, moreover, are often commercially available. This makes their identification difficult and makes the simultaneous use of several of these substances impractical.
- DE-A-198 04 021 describes a value document having at least one authenticity feature in the form of a luminescent substance based on doped host lattices.
- Interference pigments are not luminescent. These interference pigments are silicatic platelets coated with titanium dioxide.
- the object of the invention is to increase the number of luminophores which are suitable as authenticity markings for value documents, and in particular to provide value documents with authenticity features in the form of luminescent substances, which differ from value documents with hitherto known luminophores distinguished by a characteristically modified excitation and / or emission spectrum.
- the invention is based on the finding that the detectability of certain luminescences, which is difficult with increasing emission wavelength in the IR spectral range, can be used very advantageously to increase protection against counterfeiting.
- At least one luminescent substance whose emission spectrum lies outside the visible spectral range, preferably even outside the sensitivity of silicon detectors, is used to secure value documents.
- the substances suitable for the authenticity assurance according to the invention are luminescent substances based on host lattices which are doped with chromophores of the electron configuration (3d) 2 . These may be chromophores of one variety or a mixture of at least two different chromophores.
- the chromophores according to the invention are the transition metals titanium in the oxidation state Ti 2+ , hereinafter Ti (II), vanadium in the oxidation state V 3+ , in the following V (III), chromium in the oxidation state Cr 4+ , hereinafter Cr (IV), manganese in the oxidation state Mn 5+ , in the following Mn (V), and iron in the oxidation state Fe 6+ , in the following Fe (VI).
- the host lattices are inorganic templates, e.g. Apatites, Spodiosites, Palmierites, Forsterites, Brushites, Dahlites, Ellestadites, Francolites, Monetites, Morinites, Whitlockites, Wilkeites, Voelkkerites, Pyromorphites, Garnets, Perovskites, Olivines as well as certain silicates, titanates, vanadates, phosphates, sulfates, aluminates, zirconates.
- the host lattices used according to the invention have one of the following formulas:
- a host lattice of the formula is particularly suitable: [Mg a Ca b Sr c Ba d ] [S e Se f Cr g Mo h W i ] O 4 .
- the host lattice is particularly preferably BaSO 4 .
- a host lattice of the formula Y 2 [Si a Ti b Zr c ] O 7 or MgCa 2 [Si a Ti b Zr c ] O 7 , where a + b + c 2 and a, b and c each range from 0 to 2.
- Y PO 4 , La PO 4 , Zr Si O 4 is particularly preferred.
- Host lattices with a strong crystal field are particularly preferred.
- the positions and shapes of the excitation and / or emission bands depend on the mounting position of the chromophores in the host lattice.
- the chromophores can be present in the oxidic structural units of the host lattice in both tetrahedral and octahedral configurations. However, the tetroxo configuration in the host lattice is preferred.
- the positions and shapes of the excitation and / or emission bands depend on the strength of the crystal field in the host lattice. The interaction between chromophore and host lattice alters the electronic levels of the chromophores from their values and arrangement in the gas phase, i. (partly against each other) shifted.
- Fig. 1a shows how the position and sequence of the electronic levels of the chromophore Cr 3+ depend on the strength of the crystal field, ie the interaction between the chromophore and the lattice (Tanabe-Sugano diagram).
- the electronic state 4 T 2 is the first excited state above the ground state 4 A 2 , one observes a broadband luminescence from the level 4 T 2 .
- Narrow-band emission is usually termed when the bands appearing in the emission spectrum show a mean half width of less than 50 nm. However, this does not mean that bands having a half width outside this range do not solve the object of the invention.
- the number of distinguishable substances according to the invention can be further increased if mixed crystals of the host lattice are also permitted or the host lattices are varied with additional dopants: For example, apatites and spodiosites or garnets and perovskites can form mixed crystals in certain concentration ratios of the starting substances, in which the lattices merge into one another , Associated with this, the crystal field, which acts on the chromophore, can be changed.
- Ne neodymium
- Ho holmium
- Er erbium
- Tm thulium
- Yb ytterbium
- the value document is marked instead of one with a plurality of the luminescent substances according to the invention, the number of distinguishable combinations can be further increased. In addition, if different mixing ratios are distinguished from each other, the number of combinations can be further increased.
- the marking can be done either at different points of the value document or at the same place. If the luminescent substance is introduced or introduced at different points in the value document, a spatial code, in the simplest case e.g. a barcode to be generated.
- the forgery security of the value document can be increased if the particular luminescent substance chosen is e.g. is linked in a value document with other information of the value document, so that a check by means of a suitable algorithm is possible.
- the value document may have, in addition to the luminescent substance according to the invention, further additional authenticity features, such as classical fluorescence and / or magnetism.
- the luminescent substances can be introduced according to the invention in a variety of ways in the value document.
- the luminescent substances can be introduced into an ink. But also an admixing of the luminescent substance to the pulp or plastic mass in the production of a value document based on paper or plastic is possible.
- the luminescent substances can be provided on or in a plastic carrier material which, for example, in turn, can be at least partially embedded in the paper pulp.
- the luminescent substance can be used e.g. directly into the material of the object to be secured, z. B. in housings and plastic bottles.
- the plastic or paper base material may also be attached to any other article, e.g. be attached to the product fuse.
- the carrier material is preferably formed in this case in the form of a label. If the carrier material is part of the product to be protected, e.g. in the case of tearing threads, of course, any other shape is possible. In certain applications, it may be useful to provide the luminescent substance as an invisible coating on the document of value. It may be over the entire surface or in the form of certain patterns, such. Stripes, lines, circles or in the form of alphanumeric characters.
- either a colorless luminescent substance in the printing ink or the coating lacquer must be used or a colored luminescent substance in such a low concentration that the transparency of the coating is just barely given.
- the support material may already be suitably colored, so that colored luminescent substances are not perceived due to their inherent color.
- the luminescent substances according to the invention are processed in the form of pigments.
- the pigments can be present in particular as individually encapsulated pigment particles or coated with an inorganic or organic coating.
- the individual pigment particles are surrounded for this purpose with a silicate shell and can thus be more easily dispersed in media.
- various pigment particles of a combination may be co-encapsulated, e.g. in fibers, filaments, silicate wraps. So it is e.g. no longer possible to subsequently change the "code” of the combination.
- encapsulation is meant a complete encasing of the pigment particles, while “coating” also means the partial encapsulation or coating of the pigment particles.
- the starting materials in oxidic form or substances that can be converted into oxides in a suitable ratio, for example, as mixed in equation (1), provided with the chromophore and then calcined, crushed, washed (eg with water), dried and ground.
- a chromophore for example: Mn 2 O 3 , MnO, MnO 2 , MnCO 3 , MnCl 2 , KMnO 4 and organic manganese compounds can be used.
- Their proportion by weight, based on the total mixture can be up to 20% by weight.
- the annealing is carried out in the temperature range of 200 to 1700 ° C and a holding time of 0.2 to 24 h, but preferably at 300 to 500 ° C and a holding time of 0.5 to 2h.
- 6 LiOH + As 2 O 5 + x MnCl 2 ⁇ 2 Li 3 AsO 4 : Mn + 3H 2 O + xCl 2 (1)
- the batch may additionally be admixed with LiCO 3 , preferably 1 to 5%, as well as additional LiOH, preferably 1 to 20% by weight.

Description

(z.T. gegeneinander) verschoben.
Fig. 2 erfindungsgemäßes Sicherheitselement im Querschnitt. -
Fig. 2 zeigt eine Ausführungsform des erfindungsgemäßen Sicherheitselements.
