Description
The invention relates to a gap seal and a centrifugal pump unit with a corresponding gap seal.
So
Elastomerdichtung
in Kontakt ist. Derartige Dichtungen sind beispielsweise aus EP 0
492 603 B1, FR 2 469 582 und GB 1 226 475 bekannt.Pumps and in particular water pumps have a suction mouth
through which the fluid to be delivered enters the rotating impeller.
In the area of the suction mouth, the rotating impeller must face
be sealed to the housing. This happens either touching
or non-contact. In both cases it is important that the gap
between impeller and suction mouth or housing a predetermined
Has dimension, which is why tight tolerances are observed in the field of seal
Need to become. Impeller and seal exist either
made of plastic or a combination of metal and plastic. So
can the impeller in the suction mouth of a stainless metal sleeve
be surrounded, which with a plastic or elastomer seal
is in contact. Such seals are for example from
Plastics have the property when exposed to certain fluids swelling, which leads to a resizing. Will now, for example a gap seal made of plastic used in a water pump, so the plastic swells on exposure to the water, resulting in a Narrowing of the sealing diameter leads. This increases the friction between the seal and the impeller, causing the recorded Power of the pump increases.
It is an object of the invention, a gap seal and a pump unit with a gap seal to provide the power dissipation of the pump set. This task is accomplished by a Gap seal with the features specified in claim 1 and features by a pump unit with the specified in claim 9 Characteristics solved. Preferred embodiments will be apparent the associated dependent claims.
The gap seal according to the invention is particularly suitable for Use in a pump, especially water pump, but can also be used in other systems, which have a seal with constant Outside dimensions require. The gap seal according to the invention has a stiffening element, which at least partially of a Surrounding sealing material. Here are the material of the stiffening element and the sealing material chosen so that at least a sealing dimension of the gap seal when exposed to a fluid substantially remains constant. The sealing measure is that measure in which Direction of the gap to be sealed. The constant sealing dimension upon the action of a fluid is by mutual compensation of a Shrinking and swelling of the sealing material and the material reaches the stiffening element. In addition the materials become like that that selected a shrinkage or swelling of the material of the stiffening element under the influence of a fluid due to shrinkage or Sources of the sealing material under the influence of the fluid at least partially is compensated. Depending on the geometry of the seal The materials are chosen so that the shrinking or swelling one material shrinking or swelling the other material compensates in the desired direction, thereby creating a substantially constant dimension can be achieved in this direction. For example, the material of the stiffening element under influence of a fluid to a certain extent swell, while the sealing material under the influence of the fluid by a corresponding amount shrinking. To achieve this compensation effect, this must be Material of the stiffening element and the sealing material in dependence of the acting, d. H. be selected to be pumped fluids so that they have the desired shrinkage or a desired Have Quellmaß. By this compensation of the swelling and Shrinking the materials is achieved by using a gap seal a substantially constant outer or sealing measure created becomes. This can cause the unwanted effect that by swelling the Seals the power consumption of the pump increases, be avoided. Except for the choice of materials with different swelling dimensions, It is important that the stiffening element and the sealing material in their rigidity and geometric shape to match. Thus, the stiffening element can be formed so that it an expansion of the sealing material when swelling only in one certain direction. The direction of stretching or shrinkage The individual elements are chosen so that a certain degree the gap seal even when swelling substantially constant can be held.
Preferably, the gap seal is a ring with an annular stiffening element educated. Such a gap seal can in Be arranged region of the suction mouth of a centrifugal pump. there can such a seal in multi-stage centrifugal pumps in Range of each stage are arranged, which in particular at multistage centrifugal pumps due to the power loss of the pump significantly reduces friction in the area of the seals at each stage can be.
More preferably, the gap seal is designed as a radial sealing ring and the sealing material is at least on the inner circumference of Stiffening element arranged, with a sealing diameter below Influence of the fluid remains substantially constant. In the case of a centrifugal pump the sealing diameter is the inner diameter of the sealing ring, which is in contact with the rotating impeller. By compensation of swelling and shrinking of stiffening element and Sealing material, the sealing diameter is kept constant, so that in the area of the gap seal the preset tolerances also can be maintained in operation, leaving an undesirable Power loss of the pump can be minimized.
In the case of a sealing ring are the material of the stiffening element and the sealing material is preferably both chosen that they swell under the influence of the fluid. The swelling of the material the stiffening element causes the stiffening element enlarged in the circumferential direction, whereby also the inner diameter of the stiffening element increases. To enlarge the Inside diameter of the stiffening element or stiffening ring to compensate so that the seal remains constant, must now Also, the sealing material should be chosen so that it swells. The sealing material is preferably chosen so that it, when it swells under the influence of fluid, its dimensions are increased, that the diameter enlargement of the stiffening ring substantially is compensated. The stiffnesses of the elements, d. H. of sealing material and stiffening ring, are matched so that also an increase in the diameter of the stiffening ring due to the swelling of the sealing material generated force is compensated so that the sealing size remains constant. Preferably, the stiffening ring is formed so stiff that it not to a diameter extension of the stiffening ring the swelling of the sealing material arranged on the inner circumference comes.
For this purpose, the materials are further preferably chosen so that the Sealing material under the influence of the fluid swells more than the material of the stiffening element. This is required to be usual Dimensions of the gap seal sufficient compensation of To achieve size changes. Under the influence of the fluid swell that Seal material and the material of the stiffening element to a relative measure, d. H. a certain percentage. Because the absolute Length of the stiffening ring in its circumferential direction usually is considerably larger than the radial extent of the sealing material, is the absolute amount to the the stiffening element in the circumferential direction swells, be greater than the absolute amount to the the sealing material swells in the radial direction. Consequently, the absolute Radius expansion of the inner diameter of the stiffening element be greater than the radial enlargement of the sealing material by swelling. To compensate for this effect, it is necessary to choose the sealing material so that it is stronger under the influence of fluid swells as the material of the stiffening element.
Ideally, the materials are chosen so that the ratio the source factor of the material of the stiffening element to the swelling factor the sealing material the ratio of a radial width of Sealing material corresponds to the inner radius of the stiffening element. The swelling factor is the relative amount or percentage, around which the respective material swells under the influence of fluid. To one as complete compensation of the dimensional changes due To achieve the swelling, the materials must be chosen so be that their source factors to each other above-mentioned ratio which has the ratio of the radial width of the on the Inner circumference of the stiffening element applied sealing material to the inner diameter of the stiffening element equivalent. In particular, when using the gap seal in a Water pump is used as material for the stiffening element preferably polybutylene terephthalate (PBT) and as a sealing material a thermoplastic elastomer, in particular polyurethane, d. H. CPU selected. Such thermoplastic polyurethane is also known as known thermoplastic rubber. The use of polyurethane as sealing material and PBT as material for the stiffening element causes a substantially complete compensation of the Swelling the two elements so that the seal dimension, d. H. in the Case of a sealing ring, the inner diameter of the sealing material remains essentially constant.
To produce the gap seal, the stiffening element is preferably overmoulded with the sealing material. This allows a cost-effective production of the gap seal with low tolerances.
The invention further relates to a pump unit with at least one Impeller, wherein arranged at the suction mouth of the impeller, a gap seal is as described above. In such a Pump unit can reduce the power loss occurring Be as the inner diameter of the gap seal under action the fluid remains substantially constant, so that the predetermined Tolerances are maintained during operation. In multi-level Pumps can have a gap seal in each pump stage according to previous description, whereby the power loss can be significantly reduced.
Weiter bevorzugt ist das Pumpenaggregat eine Wasserpumpe.More preferably, the pump unit is a water pump.

Fig. 1 zeigt eine Schnittansicht einer Kreiselpumpenstufe.
Fig. 1 shows a sectional view of a centrifugal pump stage. In the
Fig. 2 zeigt eine Draufsicht auf die Spaltdichtung 12. Die Spaltdichtung
12 besteht aus einem ringförmigen Versteifungselement 14, welches mit
einem Dichtungsmaterial 16 versehen bzw. umspritzt ist. Das Dichtungsmaterial
16 ist insbesondere am Innenumfang des Versteifungsringes
14 angeordnet.
An seinem äußeren Umfang
dienen.Fig. 2 shows a plan view of the
The sealing
der Linie A-A.
14 umgibt.
vermeiden.Fig. 3 shows a sectional view of the gap seal according to FIG. 2 along

dem Gehäuse 2 vorgesehen sind.4 shows an enlarged detail view of the detail B in FIG.
3. Here it is once again shown more clearly how the stiffening
The materials of the stiffening
This relationship expresses that the source factor x of the material of the
Stiffening element 14 a relationship to the swelling factor y of the sealing
Although the invention above by the example of an annular Gap seal has been described, so can the invention Principle of compensation of swelling or shrinkage of individual Materials within the seal also apply to other seals transfer. For example, a material which is under the influence of fluid can be used swells, combine with a second material, which under Fluid influence correspondingly shrinks. The idea essential to the invention lies in it, two materials with different shrinkage or swelling combine so that when fluid a dimension in a given direction is substantially constant remains.
FIG. 5 shows a diagram in which the swelling properties of various Stiffening rings of different materials, namely polyamide (PA), polyethylene sulfide (PPS) and polybuthylene terephthalate (PBT) are. FIG. 5 shows the test results of an experiment which a stiffening ring was placed in water for several days and the swelling was detected by the change in diameter. It can be seen, the polyamide swells very strong and large diameter changes while for polybuthylene terephthalate (PBT) nearly no change in diameter is detectable even after 40 days. When using polyethylene sulfide (PPS), it turns out to be a slight shrinkage, d. H. Reduction of the diameter which, however, essentially over the duration of the experiment remained constant. It is thus apparent from Fig. 5 that when the examined materials for a stiffening element with a corresponding Matched sealing material can be used Overall dimension of a seal, in particular the inner diameter can remain substantially constant even when exposed to water.
