- the present invention further relates to a process for the preparation of the complex compounds according to the invention from ligands of the general formula II,
- the present invention further relates to a process for the preparation of supported catalysts for the polymerization using the complex compound according to the invention of the general formulas I and to a process for the polymerization or copolymerization of olefins using the supported catalysts according to the invention.
- the present invention relates to a process for the emulsion polymerization and copolymerization of olefins using a complex compound of the general formulas I a to I d.
- Polymers and copolymers of olefins are of great economic importance because the monomers are easily accessible in large quantities and because the polymers can be varied over a wide range by varying the production process or the processing parameters. Particular attention is paid to the catalyst used in the manufacturing process.
- various types of single-site catalysts are of increasing importance, with Ni or as central atoms in addition to Zr, for example in metallocene catalysts (H.-H. Brintzinger et al., Angew. Chem. 1995, 107, 1255) Pd (WO 96/23010) or Fe and Co (eg WO 98/27124) have been examined in more detail.
- the complexes of Ni, Pd, Fe and Co are also called late transition metal complexes.
- Metallocene catalysts have disadvantages for large-scale use. The most commonly used metallocenes, zirconocenes and hafnocenes, are sensitive to hydrolysis. In addition, most metallocenes are sensitive to a variety of catalyst poisons such as alcohols, ethers or CO, which requires careful cleaning of the monomers. While Ni or Pd complexes (WO 96/23010) the formation acidver ⁇ catalyze branched, commercially less interesting polymers, which use results of Fe or Co complexes for the formation of highly linear polyethylene with very low contents of comonomer.
- WO 98/42664 contains complexes of the formula A and closely related
- WO 98/42665 describes complexes of the formula B and closely related derivatives and their use for the polymerization of olefins.
- the radical R on the imine nitrogen denotes a Ci-Cn-alkyl group or an ortho-substituted phenyl group.
- your activity should still be improved.
- the complexes of the general formulas A and B are furthermore known to be polymerization-active even in the presence of small amounts of water without the catalytic activity suffering (WO 98/42664, in particular page 17, line 14 ff; WO 98/42665 , P. 16, line 13). However, these amounts of water must not exceed 100 equivalents, based on the complex (WO 98/42664, page 17, lines 33-35; WO 98/42665, page 16, lines 30-31). However, emulsion polymerization cannot be carried out under these conditions.
- A. Tomov et al. have in macro ol. Symp. 2000, 250, 53 reports that some dinuclear Ni complexes are suitable as catalysts for the emulsion polymerization of ethylene. However, the synthesis of the complexes mentioned is complicated.
- WO 98/30609 discloses derivatives of A which are suitable for the polymerization of ethylene and propylene. However, their activity is not always satisfactory.
- EP-A 0 874 005 discloses further polymerization-active complexes.
- the complexes are preferably Ti complexes with salicylaldimine ligands. They also have phenyl substituents or substituted phenyl substituents on the aldimine nitrogen atom (page 18-23) or the aldimine nitrogen atom is built into a 6-membered ring (page 31-32).

- dispersions according to the invention in addition to the low price owing to the cheap monomers and processes, is that they are more weather-resistant than dispersions of polybutadiene or butadiene copolymers. Compared to dispersions of polymers with acrylates or methacrylates as the main monomer, the lower tendency to saponify can be mentioned as advantageous. Another advantage is that most olefins are volatile and non-polymerized residual monomers are easy to remove. Finally, it is advantageous that no molecular weight regulators, such as, for example, tert-dodecyl mercaptan, have to be added during the polymerization, which on the one hand are difficult to separate and on the other hand have an unpleasant smell.

- the dispersions according to the invention can be used advantageously in numerous applications, such as, for example, paper applications such as paper coating or surface sizing, as well as paints and varnishes, construction chemicals, adhesive raw materials, molded foams, textile and leather applications, carpet backing coatings, mattresses or pharmaceutical applications.
- the imine III.1 (0.36 g, 1.30 mmol) was added to the freshly prepared 35 LDA solution at -80 ° C. After the cold bath had been removed, the dissolved educt was stirred at room temperature for 2 h and thereby deprotonated (color change: yellowish-yellow-green).

A B
A. Tomov et al . haben in Macro ol . Symp.
In EP-A 0 874 005 werden weitere polymerisationsaktive Komplexe offengelegt.
In A. Held et al . , J. Chem. Soc, Chem. Commun.
- neue Komplexverbindungen bereitzustellen, die zur Polymerisation von Olefinen geeignet sind;
ein Verfahren zur Herstellung der erfindungsgemäßen Komplex- Verbindungen bereitzustellen;
ein Verfahren zur Polymerisation oder Copolymerisation von Olefinen unter Verwendung der erfindungsgemäßen Komplexverbindungen bereitzustellen;
Trägerkatalysatoren für die Polymerisation von Olefinen sowie ein Verfahren zur Herstellung der erfindungsgemäßen Träger- katalysatoren unter Verwendung der erfindungsgemäßen Komplex- Verbindungen bereitzustellen;

X sind gleich oder verschieden und gewählt aus: Halogen, wie Fluor, Chlor, Brom oder Iod, bevorzugt sind Chlor und Brom;
Cι-C8-Alkylgruppen, wie Methyl, Ethyl, n-Propyl, iso-Propyl, n-Butyl, iso-Butyl, sec.-Butyl, tert.-Butyl, n-Pentyl, iso- Pentyl, sec.-Pentyl, neo-Pentyl, 1, 2-Dimethylpropyl, iso- Amyl, n-Hexyl, iso-Hexyl, sec.-Hexyl, n-Heptyl, iso-Heptyl und n-Octyl; bevorzugt Cχ-C6-Alkyl wie Methyl, Ethyl, n-Propyl, iso-Propyl, n-Butyl, iso-Butyl, sec.-Butyl, tert.-Butyl, n-Pentyl, iso-Pentyl, sec.-Pentyl, neo-Pentyl, 1, 2-Dimethyl - propyl, iso-Amyl, n-Hexyl, iso-Hexyl, sec.-Hexyl, besonders bevorzugt Cι-C4-Alkyl wie Methyl, Ethyl, n-Propyl, iso-Propyl, n-Butyl, iso-Butyl, sec.-Butyl und tert.-Butyl;
C3-Cχ2-Cycloalkyl wie Cyclopropyl, Cyclobutyl, Cyclopentyl, Cyclohexyl, Cycloheptyl, Cyclooctyl, Cyclononyl, Cyclodecyl, Cycloundecyl und Cyclododecyl; bevorzugt sind Cyclopentyl, Cyclohexyl und Cycloheptyl;
C7-C13-Aralkyl, bevorzugt C7- bis C1 -Phenylalkyl wie Benzyl, 1-Phenethyl, 2-Phenethyl, 1-Phenyl-propyl, 2-Phenyl-propyl, 3-Phenyl-propyl, Neophyl (1-Methyl-l-phenylethyl) , 1-Phenyl- butyl, 2-Phenyl-butyl, 3-Phenyl-butyl und 4-Phenyl-butyl, besonders bevorzugt Benzyl ,-
C6-Cι4-Aryl, beispielsweise Phenyl, 1-Naphthyl, 2-Naphthyl, 1-Anthryl, 2-Anthryl, 9-Anthryl, 1-Phenanthryl, 2-Phenan- thryl, 3-Phenanthryl, 4-Phenanthryl und 9-Phenanthryl, bevorzugt Phenyl, 1-Naphthyl und 2-Naphthyl, besonders bevorzugt Phenyl ;
Anmeldungen DE-A 10107045 und DE-A 10107043 beschrieben.

DE-A 30 07 725) .

Bott, A.R. Barron Organo - metallics 1996, 15, 2213-26; A.R. Barron Macromol. Symp. 1995,
Acrylate wie Acrylsäure, Acrylsäuremethylester, Acrylsäure- ethylester, Acrylsäure- (2-ethyl) -hexylester, Acrylsäure-n- butylester oder Acrylsäure-tert . -butylester;
Methacrylsäure, Methacrylsäuremethylester, Methacrylsäure - ethylester, Methacrylsäure-n-butylester oder Methacrylsäure- tert . -butylester;
Auflage, 1999, Kapitel 4.
