Claims (10)

  1. Extra-fine filter (7), provided for arrangement in the exhaust airstream of a vacuum cleaner (1), in particular a household vacuum cleaner, and comprising a cartridge-like plastics material housing (11) which is rectangular in plan view and has a grille-type structure (12) on two opposite planar faces, folded filter paper (13) being accommodated in the interior of the plastics material housing (11) and a flexible plastics material sealing lip (15) being formed on an inlet peripheral edge (14) which surrounds a grille-type structure (12), characterised in that the sealing lip (15) has a freestanding height (h) equal to between a fifth and a twentieth of the length (a) of the short edge of the rectangular cross-section, in that control portions (18) are provided on the outlet peripheral edge (17) so as to project beyond the peripheral edge (17) in the outlet direction, and in that the control portions (18) are formed on the two longitudinal peripheral edges (19, 20), a short control cam (22) being formed on one longitudinal peripheral edge (19), associated with one corner (21), and a long control cam (23) being formed diametrically opposite.
  2. Extra-fine filter according to claim 1, characterised in that an integrally moulded holding strap (16) is arranged on the plastics material housing (11).
  3. Extra-fine filter according to claim 2, characterised in that the holding strap (16) is formed so as to be associated with an outlet peripheral edge (17), which is positioned opposite the inlet peripheral edge (14) provided with the sealing lip (15).
  4. Extra-fine filter according to any one of claims 1 to 3, characterised in that the underside of the long control cam (23) forms a rail (25), optionally a first rail, which extends so as to overlap the side face of the housing.
  5. Extra-fine filter according to claim 4, characterised in that a further rail (26) is formed on the opposite housing side, associated with the sealing lip (15).
  6. Vacuum cleaner (1) comprising an electric motor (6) which has a suction side (S) and an exhaust side (B), an accommodating chamber (8) being provided, on the exhaust side (B), for an extra-fine filter (7) comprising a cartridge-like plastics material housing (11) which is rectangular in plan view, said extra-fine filter (7) having a grille-type structure (12) on two opposite planar faces, folded filter paper (13) being accommodated in the interior of the plastics material housing (11) and a flexible plastics material sealing lip (15) being formed on an inlet peripheral edge (14) which surrounds a grille-type structure (12), rail recesses (27, 28) for rail portions (25, 26) of the extra-fine filter (7) being formed in the accommodating chamber (8) so as to extend in the insertion direction of the extra-fine filter (7), characterised in that end portions of the rail recesses (27, 28) open towards the exhaust side (B) of the motor (6).
  7. Vacuum cleaner according to claim 6, characterised in that a rail recess (27) extends so as to be curved in portions.
  8. Vacuum cleaner according to one or more of claims 6 or 7, characterised in that the filter (7) is directed onto the exhaust side (B) of the motor (6) over the last fifth of the insertion path, a sealing lip (15) of the extra-fine filter (7) being resiliently deformed, said sealing lip being associated with the exhaust side (B) of the motor (6).
  9. Vacuum cleaner according to any one of claims 6 to 8, in which the accommodating chamber (8) is to be sealed by an exhaust grille (9) and projections are formed on the chamber side of the exhaust grille (9), characterised in that the projections are control projections (34) which engage the fine filter (7) from behind so as to bias it into contact with the exhaust side (B) of the motor (6).
  10. Vacuum cleaner according to claim 9, characterised in that the exhaust grille (9) comprises an inspection opening (36) in which the visible side of a holding strap (16) formed on the extra-fine filter (7) is uncovered when the extra-fine filter (7) is in use.
