Definitions
- the present invention relates to a method for producing stacks of sheets printed by single-printing, in particular stacks of securities sheets, such as banknotes, from stacks of unprinted sheets, the unprinted sheets successively entering a printing machine to be provided with the individual prints.
- the present invention also relates to a printing machine for carrying out the method according to the invention.
- the patent EP 0 563 007 shows a modular copper plate printing machine, which in particular contains a printing cylinder, on which the sheets to be printed are held, a plate cylinder, which in turn carries copper printing plates, in which the transferred to the sheets of the printing cylinder print motifs are engraved.
- the inking of the printing plates takes place both indirectly through a color collecting cylinder, which collects the ink from several Farbduktoren and then transfers them to the plates of the plate cylinder, as well as directly via a paint applicator, which lays directly on the printing plates ,
- the method for producing the sheet pile comprises in particular the transfer of the unprinted sheets from the feed stack to the printing cylinder, then the actual printing of the sheets with the motifs, the motifs by means of the inked plates of the plate cylinder and finally the further transport of the printed sheets into a delivery pile.
- drying devices such as lamps or other equivalent means, are provided which allow drying of the signatures before stacking. After the sheets are printed, they are conveyed through a discharge device containing, for example, a chain gripper system and, as this discharge device passes through, heat sources act on the sheets and the ink is dried.
- a machine according to FIG. 1 is for example in CH 289 716 described.
- intermediate sheets also provides a practical solution, especially for small machines or where space is limited and therefore it is not possible to install an adequate drying device as described above. Nevertheless, it is also complicated for small machines to insert intermediate sheets between each sheet, because the production speed is high and the paths traveled by each printed sheet are short.
- the aim of the invention is to improve the known methods and machines.
- the invention has the goal of proposing a method, can be formed with the sheet stack and at the same time the risk of contamination of the stacked sheets can be minimized.
- the aim of the invention is also to propose a printing press, in particular a sheet-fed press, which allows the use of the method.
- FIG. 1 is schematically illustrated a known in the current state of the art printing press.
- FIG. 2 is an illustration of a machine that allows the use of the method according to the invention.
- FIG. 3 is a block diagram of the method according to the invention.
- This machine is generally designated by the reference numeral 1 and consists of the following parts: a feed 2 for the sheets to be printed, a printing module 3, a transport system 4 with which the signatures are transported to the trays 5 and 6 of the machine 1.
- This machine also includes a feeder for intermediate sheets 7 adjacent to the trays 5 and 6.
- the printing module 3 comprises a plate cylinder, which is colored by inking rollers 9 of the ink boxes 13, 14, 15 and 16.
- the module further comprises a printing cylinder on which lie the sheets 18 coming from the feeder 2.
- the module also includes a wiping cylinder 19 and transfer rollers 20 and 21 for transporting the sheets 18 onto the impression cylinder 17.
- the discharge system 4 which comprises, for example, a chain gripper system 22 and drying means 23, such as lamps.
- the sheets 18 transported by the discharge system 4 are thus dried by the drying means 23 before being stacked in the trays 5 and 6.
- a feeding device for intermediate sheets 7 is used, with a protective sheet 24 is placed between each stacked in the trays 5 and 6 sheet 18.
- This machine is identified by the reference numeral 30 and generally comprises a supply 31 for unprinted sheets 32, which are fed to a printing unit 33 and subsequently, after the completion of the printing, a delivery stack 34.
- the printing unit 33 comprises a plate cylinder 35 and a pressure cylinder 36th Die on FIG. 2
- the machine also uses the principle of direct coloring and indirect coloring at the same time.
- the direct coloring of the plate cylinder is realized by an ink fountain 37 and an inking roller 38.
- the indirect color in turn is done by the ink boxes 39, 40 and 41 and their inking rollers 42, 43 and 44.
- the Ink rollers 42, 43 and 44 apply the ink to a collecting ink cylinder 45, which in turn applies the necessary ink to the plates of the plate cylinder 35.
- the plate cylinder 35 can carry two plates, and accordingly, only a single pressure plate is mounted in the present case.
- the printing module likewise comprises a wiper device with a wiping cylinder 49.
- the blank sheets 32 are fed from the feeder 31 through a suitable transfer system 50, such as a printer. brought a chain gripper system on the printing cylinder 36 and held on this cylinder by suitable gripper of the cylinder 36.
- a suitable transfer system 50 such as a printer. brought a chain gripper system on the printing cylinder 36 and held on this cylinder by suitable gripper of the cylinder 36.
- these intermediate sheets 47 have the same size as the unprinted sheets 32 on which the printing of the securities is to take place and, like the sheets 32, are guided onto the printing cylinder 36 by suitable conventional means, such as a chain gripper system or a transfer roller 48. In this way, the printing cylinder 36 alternately receives an unprinted sheet 32 and an intermediate sheet 47.
- the delivery stack 34 is fed by the impression cylinder 36: after each revolution of the impression cylinder, the sheets carried by it are taken over by a suitable transfer system, eg by a transfer roller operating on the suction principle by negative pressure to transfer the sheet, or a system with a chain 51 Grippers 52 as it dotted on schematically FIG. 2 is shown.
- a suitable transfer system eg by a transfer roller operating on the suction principle by negative pressure to transfer the sheet, or a system with a chain 51 Grippers 52 as it dotted on schematically FIG. 2 is shown.
- the intermediate sheets 47 are fed to the printing cylinder 36 by conventional means, for example a gripper chain system, and transferred to the printing cylinder 36 by means of a transfer roller 48.
- FIG. 3 shows a block diagram of the method according to the invention.
- the printing cylinder carries two sheets, as in the on FIG. 2 illustrated machine.
- the printing module of the printing press 30 is alternately supplied with a blank sheet 32 to be printed and an intermediate sheet 47.
- the variable N is used as above to define the total number of plates that can be carried by the plate cylinder 35, where N is an integer multiple of 2. On FIG. 1 N is equal to 4 and up FIG. 2 N is equal to 2.
- the individual prints are printed on the sheet 32 with the help of the plate cylinder 35 carried by the plate. Regardless of the number of sheets carried by the printing cylinder 36 number of sheets is printed in this way every second sheet in the printing press 30.
- the sheets are collected and a sheet stack 34 is formed in the delivery of the machine, alternating sheets of printed sheets 32 and intermediate sheets 47 separating the printed sheets 32 from each other, composed.
- the invention is not limited to the described embodiments, and modifications are possible.
- the intermediate sheets are unprinted.
- This procedure could be advantageous when N is equal to 2. Because in this case, if there is only one plate on the plate cylinder, the rotation of the same is not balanced and it can be produced disturbing vibrations. So you could imagine that you still apply to the plate cylinder a second plate on which you could have a simplified print motif to avoid too large amounts of ink.
- N is not limited to 2.
- N can be 4 or 6 or even 8. This number is partly due to the size of the sheets to be printed, ie the size of the prints and the number of prints per sheet and also dictated by the diameter of the printing and plate cylinders. Assuming that N is 4 or 6 or 8, it is replaced by a symmetrical distribution of the sectors of the plate cylinder carrying a plate and the sectors on which there is no plate - this symmetrical distribution being necessary producing printed sheets and interleaf sheets - improves the smooth operation of the machine because there is no imbalance due to the absence of a sheet.
- An advantage of the method according to the invention and the printing machine which enables the use of the method is the modular design for the small machines. In fact, it is easy to grow an intermediate sheet feeder over the machine and to insert these sheets in the flow of unprinted sheets to be printed at the level of the cylinder carrying the sheets and not to interrupt the flow of sheets stacked in the delivery of the printing press.
- the system described is also very compact and the required space is greatly reduced compared to a conventional drying system.
- the system using the method according to the invention is, after all, not nearly as expensive as a drying system.

Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a method for producing stacks of sheets printed by single-printing, in particular stacks of securities sheets, such as banknotes, from stacks of unprinted sheets, the unprinted sheets successively entering a printing machine to be provided with the individual prints.
The present invention also relates to a printing machine for carrying out the method according to the invention.
The method for producing the sheet pile comprises in particular the transfer of the unprinted sheets from the feed stack to the printing cylinder, then the actual printing of the sheets with the motifs, the motifs by means of the inked plates of the plate cylinder and finally the further transport of the printed sheets into a delivery pile.
One difficulty encountered with certain printing presses, particularly in machines employing the copper printing process, is the problem of color drying. In fact, in such a printing process, the amount of ink applied to each sheet is quite large, and it is essential that the ink be dried before the sheets are stacked in the delivery of the machine. Namely, if the paint did not have time to dry completely before stacking, then the sheets will stain each other and may be faulty at some prints or even become completely unusable. Such errors must be maximally reduced as much as possible, in particular because of the cost of the sheets used for the printing of securities, and also because of the problems which later arise in the phase of numbering of the individual securities which takes place on an ongoing basis. Any security that has an error must be replaced by a single, flawless security.
The use of intermediate sheets also provides a practical solution, especially for small machines or where space is limited and therefore it is not possible to install an adequate drying device as described above. Nevertheless, it is also complicated for small machines to insert intermediate sheets between each sheet, because the production speed is high and the paths traveled by each printed sheet are short.
The aim of the invention is to improve the known methods and machines.
In particular, the invention has the goal of proposing a method, can be formed with the sheet stack and at the same time the risk of contamination of the stacked sheets can be minimized.
The aim of the invention is also to propose a printing press, in particular a sheet-fed press, which allows the use of the method.
This object is achieved by the method and machine defined in the independent claims.
Particular embodiments of the method and the machine according to the invention are defined by the independent claims.
The invention will be better understood by describing an embodiment of this invention and the related figures.

The
Above the
The
By rotating the
When the pressure is finished, i. when the
The invention is not limited to the described embodiments, and modifications are possible. For example, one can apply the principle of the invention to printing presses using a printing process other than copper printing.
Preferably, the intermediate sheets are unprinted. However, one can also imagine that with sufficient absorbency of the paper used for the intermediate sheets this could still be printed with individual prints. This procedure could be advantageous when N is equal to 2. Because in this case, if there is only one plate on the plate cylinder, the rotation of the same is not balanced and it can be produced disturbing vibrations. So you could imagine that you still apply to the plate cylinder a second plate on which you could have a simplified print motif to avoid too large amounts of ink.
On the other hand, the variable N is not limited to 2. In fact, N can be 4 or 6 or even 8.
An advantage of the method according to the invention and the printing machine which enables the use of the method is the modular design for the small machines. In fact, it is easy to grow an intermediate sheet feeder over the machine and to insert these sheets in the flow of unprinted sheets to be printed at the level of the cylinder carrying the sheets and not to interrupt the flow of sheets stacked in the delivery of the printing press. The system described is also very compact and the required space is greatly reduced compared to a conventional drying system. The system using the method according to the invention is, after all, not nearly as expensive as a drying system.
