Definitions
- the invention relates to a feed pump, which is provided in particular for arrangement in a baffle of a fuel tank of a motor vehicle, with a driven impeller rotating in a pump housing, with a plurality of concentrically surrounding rings of vane chambers and with guide vanes arranged in the pump housing, the rings of the Vane chambers opposing partially annular channels extending from an inlet channel to an outlet channel.
- feed pumps are usually designed as peripheral or side channel pumps and are known in practice.
- the feed pump can be designed in several stages or for delivering fuel in particular from the fuel tank into a swirl pot and at the same time from the swirl pot to an internal combustion engine of the motor vehicle.
- the impeller is usually attached to a shaft of an electric motor. Between the partially annular channels, the pump housing faces the impeller to form a sealing gap with a particularly small distance. With this design, several pump stages can be arranged on a single impeller and these can be freely designed for the respective application.
- a disadvantage of the known feed pump is that a pressure difference between the partially annular channels enclosing each other leads to an overflow of the delivered liquid and thus to strong axial forces on the impeller. The overflow thus reduces the efficiency of the feed pump.
- the invention is based on the problem of designing a feed pump of the type mentioned at the outset in such a way that overflow of the liquid to be pumped between partially ring-shaped channels is largely avoided.
- This problem is solved according to the invention in that the impeller has several planes in the axial direction and that at least two rings of the guide vanes are arranged on two different planes.
- the sealing gap can be made particularly long, so that a particularly high resistance is opposed to an overflow of the liquid to be conveyed.
- the feed pump according to the invention with the same gap width of the sealing gap, particularly little liquid flows over from one partially annular channel to the other partially annular channel. Axial forces acting on the impeller can thereby be kept particularly low.
- the feed pump according to the invention thus has a particularly high degree of efficiency.
- Another advantage of this design is that the impeller can be mounted in the correct position on the shaft of the electric motor through the two levels. The intended direction of rotation of the impeller is thereby reliably guaranteed.
- the sealing gap can be kept particularly small with an axial play of the impeller provided if the impeller has a circumferential collar for separating the different levels and the pump housing has a shoulder corresponding to the collar.
- the impeller and the pump housing can be manufactured particularly inexpensively if the collar is cylindrical.
- the feed pump according to the invention requires a particularly small axial installation space if the inlet channel or the outlet channel of the radially inner partially annular channel is guided radially outwards through a web in the pump housing between the outlet channel and the inlet channel of the radially outer partially annular channel.
- the feed pump according to the invention helps to further reduce the axial dimensions of the feed pump according to the invention if the plane of the radially inner ring of the guide vanes is at a greater distance from the wheel-driving electric motor has as the plane of the radially outer rim of the guide vanes.
- the radially outer, partially annular channel can be arranged at least partially radially outside the electric motor in the assembled state of the feed pump.
- the radially inner ring of vane chambers can hereby be arranged particularly deep and thus avoid a large suction head. A large suction head leads to the formation of gas bubbles, especially with hot fuel, and thus to a sharp drop in the efficiency of the feed pump. Due to the particularly deep arrangement of the radially inner ring of the vane chambers, the feed pump according to the invention has a particularly high efficiency.
- the vane chambers of the radially inner ring can have a particularly large diameter and can therefore be designed to promote the largest possible volume flow if the impeller is thicker in the area of the radially inner ring of the guide vanes than in the area of the radial outer ring of the guide vanes.
- the delivery pump according to the invention is particularly simple in construction if the vane chambers of the radially inner ring of the guide vanes are approximately twice the diameter of the vane chambers of the radial one have outer ring of the guide vanes.
- Axial delivery of the fuel by the feed pump can be achieved according to another advantageous development of the invention with particularly little structural effort if the impeller has end faces in the radially outer region of mutually opposed rings of guide vanes and interconnected vane chambers.
- the invention permits numerous embodiments. To further clarify its basic principle, one of these is shown in the drawing and is described below. This shows in
- FIG. 1 shows a longitudinal section through a feed pump according to the invention, mounted in a swirl pot of a motor vehicle
- FIG. 2 shows a plan view of a lower housing part of a pump housing of the feed pump from FIG. 1.
- FIG. 1 shows a bottom of a fuel tank 1 of a motor vehicle with a baffle 2 supported thereon.
- a feed pump 3 is arranged inside the baffle 2.
- the feed pump 3 forms a structural unit with an electric motor 4 and has a connecting piece 5 which penetrates the bottom of the surge pot 2 and on which a filter 6 which is in contact with the bottom of the fuel tank 1 is fastened.
- the filter 6 is shown schematically.
- the feed pump 3 has two inlet channels 7, 8, one of which is guided through the nozzle 5 to the filter 6 and the other to the bottom of the baffle 2, and two outlet channels 9, 10, one of which is in the baffle 2 and the other opens into a housing 11 of the electric motor 4.
- An impeller 13 of the feed pump 3 is arranged in a rotationally fixed manner on a shaft 12 of the electric motor 4 and is opposite a fixed pump housing 14 at a short distance.
- the shaft 12 is supported in the pump housing 14 by means of a ball 15.
- the pump housing 14 has an upper housing part 16 and a lower housing part 17, which has the two inlet channels 7, 8.
- the impeller 13 has two axially spaced planes 18, 19 in the axial direction.
- the levels 18, 19 are separated from one another by a circumferential collar 20.
- the impeller 13 has a radially inner ring of guide vanes 21 and two mutually opposing rings in its radially outer region Guide vanes 22.
- the guide vanes 21, 22 delimit vane chambers 23, 24 arranged in the impeller 13.
- the radially inner ring of the guide vanes 21 is arranged further away from the electric motor 4 than the radially outer rings of the guide vanes 22 Wreaths of the guide vanes 22 are interconnected.
- partially annular channels 25, 26 are arranged in the pump housing 14.
- the partially annular channels 25, 26 form with the blade chambers 23, 24 each of one of the inlet channels 7, 8 to one of the outlet channels 9, 10 extending delivery chambers 27, 28.
- the delivery pump 3 delivers fuel from the fuel tank 1 through the radially inner delivery chamber 27 into the baffle 2 and through the radially outer delivery chamber 28 out of the baffle 2 through the electric motor 4 to an internal combustion engine (not shown) of the motor vehicle.
- the outlet channel 9 of the radially inner delivery chamber 27 is guided radially outwards by a web 29.
- the circumferential collar 20 is opposite a shoulder 30 of the pump housing 14 with a small distance. This area thus serves as a sealing gap, which largely prevents fuel from flowing over between delivery chambers 27, 28 having different pressures.
- the inlet channels 7, 8 and the outlet channels 9, 10 are arranged opposite one another to simplify the drawing.
- the partially annular channels 25, 26 can also extend over a larger angular range.
- FIG. 2 shows a view of the lower housing part 17 of the pump housing 14 as seen from the impeller 13 from FIG. 1. It can be seen here that the partially annular channels 25, 26 extend over an angular range of approximately 300 °.
