Description

  • The present invention relates to an assembly for the packaging and application of a product, especially a cosmetic product. The invention is particularly suitable for products in the form of a liquid, a gel, a cream or a paste. By way of example, mention may be made of the packaging and application of make-up or skincare products, in particular of the skin or hair, makeup removers, or hair coloring products.
  • In the field of cosmetics in particular, certain products, in particular in the form of a milk, a cream, a paste, or a gel are dispensed under pressure by means of a pump. Because of their instability in the presence of air, they can be packaged in pump systems of the type without air intake, that is to say vacuum packed in tanks whose volume decreases with use. Typically, a pocket with shrinkable walls, a tube with deformable walls, or a bottle in which is disposed a follower piston. The pump may be of the piston, membrane or valve type.
  • To apply the product, the user takes the pumped product on one or more of his fingers, and applied by massaging the surface to be treated. Alternatively, the product is applied by means of an applicator, in particular in the form of an open cell foam.
  • In the case of an applicator reusable many times, especially throughout the life of the product, it may be desirable that it, between two uses, is stored away from the air so its mechanical properties, in particular of flexibility, or of absorption are not altered. In addition, in the case of an applicator which is not cleaned after each use, the contact of the product remaining on the applicator with the ambient air, or with any other element of the environment in which it is kept, risk of contaminating the applicator and altering the product it is wearing. In any case, the transport of such an applicator, especially in the handbag of the user, is not without problems.
  • Finally, for certain applicators, whose shape is appropriate to the profile of the surface to be treated, in particular to the profile of the lips or the corner of the eye, it may be desirable for the product to be deposited always in the same way on the applicator. , and in the same amounts, so as to achieve an application that is reproducible one time at a time next.
  • Patent FR 947 987 describes, in Figure 7, an assembly according to the preamble of appended claim 1.
  • EP-A 0 416 185, EP-A-0 931 476, or US-A-5,636,931 disclose a two-slot assembly in communication with each other. One of the two housings is intended to receive an applicator secured to a gripping element in the form of a plug adapted to close an opening of the housing containing the applicator. The closure member is secured to a mechanism adapted, in response to rotation relative to the body of the assembly, to pressurize the product contained in the first housing so as to force its exit into the housing containing the 'applicator. For this purpose, the wall separating the two housings is configured in the form of a piston which is movable, axially and / or in rotation, inside the assembly.
  • Also, it is an object of the invention to provide a set of packaging and application, solving all or part of the problems discussed above with reference to conventional devices.
  • It is particularly an object of the invention to provide a device which is particularly suitable for high viscosity products, especially in the form of gels, creams or pastes.
  • It is still an object of invention to allow precise and reproducible loading of a product of an application member.
  • It is yet another object to provide such a set that is rechargeable.
  • It is yet another object to provide a device, suitable for the application of compositions, in particular cosmetics, containing fillers or pigments, and which avoids the problem of segregation of fillers or pigments, via the pores or applicator cells, which problem is unique to some conventional application systems.
  • It is yet another object to provide such a set which is simple to use and which is economical to produce.
  • Still other objects will appear in the following detailed description.
  • These objects are achieved by the package for packaging and applying a product described in claim 1.
  • The fact that, unlike the configurations described in US-A-5,636,931, EP-A-416,185, or EP-A-931,476, the output of the product results from the setting in motion of an organ other than the closure element, facilitates to a large extent the design of the latter. This feature is particularly advantageous when the closure member further forms a means for gripping the applicator member. Indeed, in this case, the gripping means of the application element is more compact, and therefore easier to handle.
  • The communication between the first and the second housing can be provided via one or more passages of relatively small section, crossing a wall to fixed axial position with respect to the first and second housing, and separating said first housing from said second housing.
  • Thus, for a first housing having a diameter of the order of 20 mm, it is possible to provide in the wall separating the two housings, one or more holes opening at the same time in the first and second housings, and whose diameter is 1 mm. order of 2 mm. The number and size of the passages depends to a large extent on the rheology of the product to be dispensed and the flow rate sought.
  • The actuating member may be disposed on one side of the first housing opposite the second housing. In the configurations described in US-A-5,636,931, EP-A-416,185, or EP-A-931,476, the actuating member is arranged with respect to the first housing, on the same side as the second housing. . Therefore, the set is necessarily more complicated to achieve. In addition, accurate dosage of the product is less easy to obtain.
  • Preferably, according to the invention, the actuating member is fixed permanently on the first housing or on a refill intended to be removably disposed in the first housing. In the three documents of the prior art mentioned above, the actuating member, consisting of a part of the closure element, is removable relative to the first housing.
  • Preferably, the closure member further forms a gripping member for said applicator member.
  • The passage (s) providing the communication between the first and the second housing are formed in a wall transverse to an axis (X) of the assembly, and which is preferably maintained at a fixed axial position at the center of the housing. inside of the whole. Therefore, the applicator member, possibly integral with the closure element, can be of more compact design, which more compact embodiment allows to bring the applicator member of the gripping element. This gives greater precision and comfort to the application.
  • In addition, the wall is preferably immobile in rotation. To a large extent, the necessary seals between the first housing and the second are facilitated.
  • The transverse wall separating the first and second housing can be obtained by molding with the assembly, in particular with the body which delimits at least partly the first and second housing, or consist of an insert.
  • Thus, according to another embodiment, the wall may consist of a metal grid, metal alloy, or plastic, fixedly mounted on an opening of the first housing, the mesh of the grid defining a multitude of weak passages. section, to feed the second housing since the first. The grid can be glued, welded or snapped onto the opening of the first housing. Alternatively again, the grid is replaced by a permeable fabric, in particular fabric or thermoplastic material, stretched on an edge defining the opening of the housing containing the product to be dispensed.
  • Such an assembly, particularly because of the mode of distribution that characterizes it, is particularly suitable for the distribution of high viscosity products such as certain hair products, care, or makeup. The applicator member is held in leaktight manner inside the second housing, which guarantees a good protection of the applicator member, especially between two uses. The fixed position mounting of the applicator in the second housing, during the exercise of the actuation command, ensures its loading in a reproducible manner, in particular as regards the quantity of product taken and the position of the product relative to the 'applicator. The applicator member may be glued, welded or pinched on the gripping member. The gripping element can be screwed or latched reversibly on the assembly.
  • In contrast to certain conventional systems in which the composition must pass through the applicator via the pores or cells that constitute it, to reach the application surface, according to the invention, the application surface disposed directly in contact with the applicator. the face of the second housing into which the supply passage or passages opens, is fed directly from said one or more passages. As a result, there is substantially no segregation of the fillers or pigments contained in the composition.
  • The mechanism associated with the first housing, to cause the exit of the product, is one of the characteristics that differentiates the device according to the invention from certain known devices, such as used in particular for the distribution of waxing, and according to which the distribution of The product is caused by pressurizing the deformable walls of a tube containing the product. Such devices are described in particular in DE 938 658 or GB 1 158 412. In these known systems, the product distribution can be difficult, especially at the end of use of the product. In addition, it is not easy to obtain an accurate dosage of the amount of product dispensed.
  • According to an advantageous embodiment, the product is contained inside the first housing via an intermediate container removably mounted inside the first housing, said intermediate container constituting a refill for said assembly. Thus, the user is allowed, especially when the product is a makeup product, for example skin, to change color at will, simply by removing the intermediate container containing a product of a given color and replacing it with another container containing a product of another color. This same characteristic may be advantageous in the field of protection of the skin, in particular when it is desired to pass from one composition containing an active ingredient in a given concentration to another composition containing another active ingredient, or an identical active ingredient, in a different concentration. The asset can be a sunscreen. The applicator member may be passed under the tap in order to be cleaned before switching to the second composition, especially when the composition is of a different color.
  • Preferably, the mechanism is integral with the refill.
  • The passage (s) is (are) formed (s) of one or more holes passing through a wall separating the first housing of the second, a grid, a sieve, or a permeable fabric, especially in fabric or thermoplastic material. The choice of such or such configuration for the (or) passage (s) depends in particular on the rheology of the product to be dispensed, and the desired flow rate.
  • The applicator member may consist of a closed-cell foam, open or semi-open, a felt, an elastomer or a sinter, in particular thermoplastic or ceramic. With such materials, the restitution of the product on the surface to be treated is either by capillarity or surface tension effect in contact with the skin, or by expulsion of the product, the pores of the applicator, in response to a slight deformation (by pressure) of it on the surface to be treated. The applicator member can consist of several different materials, in particular a stack of foams having different hardnesses, some of the foams being open-celled, the rest being closed-cell.
  • For example, the applicator member consists of a polyether foam, polyester, polyurethane, NBR (Natural Butadiene Rubber), SBR (Synthetic Butadiene Rubber) PVC (polyvinyl chloride) or a sintered polyethylene of bronze, glass, silicone, or nylon.
  • An applicator of elastically compressible material corresponds to the preferred embodiment. Indeed, when the applicator is elastically compressible, the application surface, located opposite the passage or passages through which the product is brought, can move back elastically under the pressure of the product, so as to allow greater loading, surface and / or depth of the applicator.
  • In the case of an applicator member of resiliently compressible material, in particular of foam, the applicator member may be dimensioned with respect to the second housing so that, in a position mounted inside the second housing, it can not not axially compressed significantly. The decline mentioned above is facilitated, because of the lower resistance offered by the applicator.
  • However, according to an alternative, it is possible to provide that the applicator member is partially axially compressed inside the housing which contains it so that, at the opening of the plug which it is secured, the product located in the vicinity of the surface of the applicator member is pumped deep within the latter in response to decompression of the foam. In addition, the oversizing allows to be able to reload the applicator product without having to completely screw the cap on the device. This embodiment is more suitable for low viscosity compositions.
  • At least a portion of the surface of the applicator member may be covered with a flocking, especially based on rayon fibers, cotton, viscose or nylon. The flocking contributes to creating a reserve of product, immediately in the vicinity of the application surface. In addition, it allows to give more softness to the application, especially when the applicator member is large cell foam. The flocking may consist of a mixture of fibers of different length, and / or nature, and / or diameter.
  • The associated mechanism may comprise a piston adapted to slide in a sealed manner inside the first housing or the intermediate container contained in the first housing, said piston being coupled via a coupling member, in particular a threaded rod or a rack, to a actuating member, in particular rotary or driving. Such depression may be axial or lateral. The exercise on the product of the thrust resulting from the actuation control, via a coupling member, makes it possible to reproducibly dose the amount of product passing through the second housing.
  • The mechanism may further comprise a ratchet system, capable of periodically generating an audible sound, so as to inform the user on the amount of product dispensed.
  • According to another aspect of the invention, a refill is also provided for equipping an assembly according to the invention, comprising a container equipped with a mechanism capable of allowing the product to push towards an opening. delimited by the container, said opening being closed reversibly, in particular by a cap or a plug.
  • Preferably, the container comprises means capable of ensuring the reversible attachment of the refill inside the first housing. Such means may be in particular of the type snap, bayonet, or screwing. They are able to cooperate with complementary means provided on all to which the refill is intended.
  • The mechanism may comprise a piston adapted to slide sealingly inside the container, said piston being coupled via a coupling member, in particular a threaded rod or a rack, to an actuating member, in particular a rotary or driving member.
  • The assembly according to the invention is particularly suitable for packaging and dispensing a cosmetic product, especially a makeup product or a care product.
  • The invention consists, apart from the arrangements described above, in a certain number of other arrangements which will be explained below, with reference to nonlimiting exemplary embodiments, described with reference to the appended figures, among which:
    • Figure 1 relates to a first embodiment of an assembly according to the invention;

  • The device 1 represented in FIG. 1 comprises a cylindrical body 2 made of polypropylene, with a longitudinal axis X. The body 2 delimits a first housing 3 delimited by a cylindrical skirt 19 whose first end 18 is open, and a second end of which , opposite the first, is closed by a transverse wall 16. The transverse wall 16 is traversed at its center by a passage 4. The transverse wall 16 separates the first housing 3 from a second housing 6, located above the first housing 3.
  • The upper housing 6 has its bottom 7 in hemispherical shape, in which opens an end of the passage 4. One end of the housing 6, opposite the bottom 7, forms a free edge 8 defining an opening 9. The outer surface of the housing 6 comprises a thread 10 for cooperating with a corresponding thread 11 provided on the inner surface of a skirt 12 of a plug 13. The plug 13 is secured to an applicator 14 in the form of a block of an open-cell foam, correspondingly shaped to the hemispherical profile defined by the bottom 7 of the housing 6. The surface of the applicator 14 is covered with a flocking coating 15. The applicator 14 is glued on the cap 13.
  • The applicator 14 is dimensioned relative to the housing 6 so that, in the closed position of the plug 13, at least a portion of the application surface of the applicator 14 is in contact with the bottom 7 into which the passage 4 opens. In this position, however, the applicator 14 is not substantially axially compressed.
  • The inner surface of the skirt 19 comprises, in the vicinity of its open end 18, a groove 5 intended to cooperate by snapping with a corresponding bead 21 provided on the outer surface of a refill 20 intended to be mounted inside the housing. 3.
  • The refill 20 comprises a cylindrical body 22 forming a container, and one end of which is closed by a mechanism 30. The mechanism 30 comprises an actuating wheel 31 rotatably mounted inside the cylindrical body 22, via a bead arrangement 27. The wheel 31 is integral with a threaded rod 32 adapted to axially drive a threaded piston 33, immovable in rotation inside the container 22. A rib / notch mechanism, not shown, ensures the immobilization in rotation of the piston inside the container 22.
  • The end of the cylindrical body 22, opposite to the actuating mechanism 30, is closed by a transverse wall 23 traversed by a passage 24, formed inside a tip 25. The tip 25 has an outside diameter slightly smaller than the inside diameter passage 4, so that the tip 25 can be introduced in a slightly tight manner inside the passage 4 when the refill 20 is mounted inside the housing 3.
  • The opening defined by the tip 25 is removably closed by a plug 26.
  • In use, the user removes the cap 26 and introduces the refill 20 inside the housing 3, through its open end 18, until the bead 21 comes into engagement with the groove 5. In this position, the tip 25 is inserted in a sealed manner inside the conduit 4. The immobilization in rotation of the refill 20 inside the housing 3 is provided by the cooperation of the rib 34 of the refill 20 with the notch 17 of the housing 3.
  • In the closed position of the cap 13 on the opening 9 of the housing 6, the user travels to the actuating wheel, ½ or a turn, so as to cause the passage of a corresponding amount of product P, from the container 22 to the applicator 14 contained in the housing 6, via the passage 4. The product spreads on the applicator 14, in particular by capillarity, to a greater or lesser extent, and more or less in depth, depending on the rheology of the product, and characteristics of the applicator. It then remains to unscrew the cap 13 to extract the applicator, and to apply the product P in a conventional manner by moving the applicator surface of the applicator 14 on the surface to be treated.
  • When the refill 20 is empty, or when the user wishes to use a product of a different color (in the case of a makeup product for example), she dismantles the refill in place 20 and replaces it with another, containing an identical or different product. Prior to mounting the new refill, it can pass all, and in particular the applicator 14, under the tap, so as to prevent the characteristics of the product contained in the new its color, are not affected by the color of the product contained in the refill to be replaced.
  • According to a variant not illustrated, the applicator 14 is oversized axially relative to the housing 6. Thus, it is possible, after applying all the product on the applicator 14, to recharge the latter, without having to completely screw the cap on the device 1, simply by introducing the applicator 14 into the housing 6 through the opening 9, and taking, either the residual product resulting from the previous actuation of the wheel 31, or the product resulting from a new actuation of the wheel 31, in the absence of the applicator 14.
  • The embodiment of FIG. 2 differs from the previous embodiment in that:

  • Because of the presence of the gate 42, whose surface is much larger than that of the passage 4 of the previous embodiment, this embodiment is particularly suitable for dispensing products of higher viscosity. At equal viscosities, the amounts of product that can be transferred to applicator 14 are much larger with this embodiment. The embodiment of FIG. 3 differs from the embodiment of FIG. 2 in that the product P is contained directly inside the housing 3, the open end 18 of the housing 2 being closed directly by the mechanism 30. The latter is snapped onto the body 2 of the housing 3, after casting the product P inside the housing 3 through its open end 18. In use, the operation of the device according to this embodiment is identical to the operation of the previous embodiments.
  • The device which has just been described above, is particularly advantageous in that it allows, in the case of an applicator member made of foam, to use a foam of cells of very small dimensions, thereby conferring at the application, extreme softness. Moreover, in the case of a product containing fillers and / or pigments, especially coloring pigments, there is no segregation of the latter, so that a homogeneous rendering of the colors is obtained throughout the life of the device. This is an important advantage over devices in which the product is passed through the applicator via the pores or cells that constitute it.
  • In the foregoing detailed description, reference has been made to preferred embodiments of the invention. It is obvious that variations may be made without departing from the spirit of the invention as claimed hereinafter.
  • In particular, the shape of the applicator may be different from the form illustrated with reference to the embodiments which have just been described. In general, the shape of the applicator is chosen according to the area to be treated. For example, in the case of an applicator for the lips, use for example a substantially conical applicator.
  • In addition, and although not shown, the inner surface of the second housing 6 may include reliefs, including streaks or pins, preferably communicating with the passage 4 separating the first housing of the second, and able to increase the amount of product with which the applicator is brought into contact when inside the second housing. Such a feature improves the loading possibilities of the applicator, and also makes it possible to create reserves of residual product, able, during a given use, to allow to recharge the applicator without having to screw it completely on the device.

Claims (17)

  1. Unit (1) for packaging and applying a product (P), particularly a cosmetic product, comprising a first housing (3) containing the product (P) that is to be dispensed, and a second housing (6) in communication with the first via at least one passage (4, 42), the cross section of which is smaller than the cross section of the first housing, the second housing (6) being intended to accommodate an applicator member (14), the first housing (3) being associated with a mechanism (30) capable, in response to the relative movement of an actuating member (31) with respect to the first housing, of exerting pressure on the product inside the first housing (3) so as to force a given amount of it to pass into the second housing (6) through the said passage (s) (4, 42) so as to cause the surface and/or depth of the said applicator member (14) to become laden with the said product, the associated mechanism (30) comprising a piston (33) capable of sliding in a sealed manner inside the first housing (3) or an intermediate receptacle (22) contained in the first housing (3), the said piston (33) being coupled to the said actuating member (31), characterized in that it comprises a closure element (13) separate from the actuating member and capable of shutting off in a sealed manner an opening (9) delimited by an edge (8) of the second housing (6).
  2. Unit (1) according to Claim 1, characterized in that the actuating member (31) is arranged on a side of the first housing (3) which is the opposite side to the second housing (6).
  3. Unit (1) according to Claim 1 or 2, characterized in that the actuating member (31) is fixed permanently on the first housing (3) or on a refill (20) intended to be placed removably in the first housing (3).
  4. Unit (1) according to any one of Claims 1 to 3, characterized in that the closure element (13) forms a member via which the said applicator member (14) can be grasped.
  5. Unit (1) according to any one of Claims 1 to 4, characterized in that the passage(s) (4, 42) providing the communication between the first (3) and second (6) housings is (are) formed in a wall (16) transversal to an axis (X) of the unit and kept in a fixed axial position inside the unit (1).
  6. Unit according to Claim 5, characterized in that the wall (16) is unable to rotate.
  7. Unit (1) according to any one of Claims 1 to 6, characterized in that the product (P) is contained inside the intermediate receptacle (20) mounted removably inside the first housing (3), the said intermediate receptacle (20) constituting a refill for the said unit.
  8. Unit (1) according to Claim 7, characterized in that the said mechanism (30) is secured to the refill (20).
  9. Unit (1) according to any one of Claims 1 to 8, characterized in that the passage(s) (4, 42) is(are) formed of one or more holes (4) passing through a wall (16) separating the first housing (3) from the second (6), of a grating (42), of a mesh or of a perforated gauze, made of fabric or a thermoplastic material.
  10. Unit (1) according to any one of Claims 1 to 9, characterized in that the applicator member (14) is made of a frit, particularly thermoplastic or ceramic, of felt or of an elastically compressible material such as a closed-cell, open-cell or semi-open-cell foam, or an elastomer.
  11. Unit (1) according to any one of the preceding claims, characterized in that at least part of the surface of the applicator member (14) is covered with flock (15), particularly based on rayon, cotton, viscose or nylon fibres.
  12. Unit (1) according to any one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the piston (33) is coupled via a coupling member (32), particularly a threaded rod or a rack, to the said actuating member (31).
  13. Unit (1) according to any one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the actuating member (31) is of the twist-action or push-action type.
  14. Unit according to any one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the intermediate receptacle (22) is equipped with the associated mechanism (30) capable of allowing the said product (P) to be pushed towards an opening (24, 40) delimited by the intermediate receptacle (22), the said opening being shut off reversibly, particularly by a film seal (41) or by a stopper (26).
  15. Unit according to Claim 14, characterized in that the intermediate receptacle (22) comprises means (21) capable of allowing it to be secured reversibly in the first housing (3).
  16. Unit according to Claim 15, characterized in that the said securing means (21) are, in particular, of the snap-fastening, bayonet-fastening or screw-fastening type.
  17. Use of a unit (1) according to any one of Claims 1 to 13 for packaging and dispensing a cosmetic product (P), particularly a hair product, a make-up product or a care product.
