Description

The present invention relates to the general technical field of jugs for hot or cold beverages. The present invention relates in particular, but not exclusively, to jugs for hot beverage machines such as electric coffee makers.

It is known from the document EP 0 650 681 a carafe for coffee or tea, having a spout in which is disposed an additional spout of a smaller thickness than the main spout. The additional spout has laterally interstices with the main spout. This arrangement makes it possible to encourage the return into the jug of the drop suspended at the end of the additional spout, when the carafe leaves the pouring position to return to the rest position. The additional spout can be removed for cleaning purposes. However, such an operation is tedious, and such a construction has an additional cost compared to a simple spout.

The object of the present invention is to provide a carafe having a spout for a satisfactory pouring of the drink, avoiding the fallout of liquid drops out of the carafe, without requiring special operations for cleaning.

Another object of the present invention is to provide a jug having a spout for a satisfactory pouring of the beverage, avoiding the fallout of drops of liquids out of the carafe, which is a simple and economical construction.

These objects are achieved with a carafe, in particular for a coffee maker, comprising a container having a bottom, the container being associated with a pouring spout made of plastic material having a central pouring portion comprising a pouring end and lateral parts, the spout having an upper wall connected to a lower wall by a connecting surface, the upper wall being inclined inwards of the container, because in the central pouring portion the connecting surface is free of sharp edges and has an upper edge having a radius of curvature in a radial section of the pouring end of between 0.5 and 2 mm , the connecting surface having a lower edge whose radius of curvature in a radial section of the pouring end is less than the radius of curvature of the upper edge according to a radial section of the pouring end, the lower edge having a roughness more important than the upper edge. These provisions allow a satisfactory payment of the drink while limiting the retention of drops at the end of the spout at the stop payment. A sharp edge-free connection surface may, however, include burrs resulting from a demolding plane of the plastic part. Stopping the jet and returning the drink in the spout are facilitated, the height to be crossed by the drop being limited. The greater roughness of the lower edge upsets the flow of the beverage along the bottom wall.

According to another advantageous arrangement, the inner wall has a glossy surface finish. Such an arrangement facilitates the flow of drink and limits the supply of the suspended drop when lifting the carafe.

According to another advantageous arrangement, the upper edge has a glossy surface finish. This arrangement also limits the feeding of the hanging drop when lifting the carafe.

According to another advantageous arrangement, the lower wall has a greater roughness than the upper wall. This arrangement limits the volume of suspended drops.

According to one embodiment, a central edge is disposed between the upper edge and the lower edge.

Advantageously then the central edge has a greater roughness than the upper edge.

The central edge may be vertical or inclined and / or have a slight lateral projection relative to the upper edge, due for example to a demolding plane.

According to another advantageous arrangement, the upper edge has a vertex forming a plane. Such an arrangement simplifies the realization of the spout.

According to another advantageous arrangement, the inclination of the upper wall is between 25 ° and 45 ° relative to the bottom.

According to another advantageous arrangement, the upper wall has an inclination of less than 10 ° with the bottom wall. This arrangement reduces the thickness of the pour spout.

Advantageously then, the thickness of the pouring end is less than 1.2 mm. This arrangement makes it possible to avoid retaining a large quantity of liquid under the spout, and to avoid causing the drop of drops suspended by coalescence.

According to another advantageous arrangement, the radial length of the bottom wall is greater than 4 mm in the axis of the spout. This arrangement allows to collect a drop under the spout by limiting the risk of forming a liquid path along the wall of the carafe.

According to another advantageous arrangement, the lower wall is extended by an external recess towards the base of the spout. Such an arrangement makes it possible to retain even more effectively the drop formed under the spout.

Advantageously, the outer recess is substantially vertical. Such an arrangement is easy to achieve while allowing effective retention of the drop.

According to a preferred embodiment, the height of the outer recess is greater than 1 mm. Such an arrangement in fact prevents the progress of the drop along the base of the spout.

Advantageously then the outer recess has side portions raised in their upper zone relative to the upper zone of a central portion of said outer recess. Such an arrangement facilitates the retention of the suspended drop, which is maintained by the surface tension forces of the liquid.

Advantageously, the central part of the outer recess is prominent with respect to the lateral parts of the outer recess. Such an arrangement makes it possible to further improve the retention of the suspended drop. For the same volume of drop, the drop is more pressed against the walls.

According to one embodiment, the spout is made of polypropylene. Such a material has good molding properties, while being inexpensive.

The invention will be better understood from the study of an exemplary embodiment, taken in a nonlimiting manner, and illustrated in the appended figures in which:
  • the figure 1 is a view of a carafe having a spout according to the invention,
  • the figure 2 is a perspective view of the spout shown in the figure 1 ,
  • the figure 3 is a vertical sectional view along a vertical radial section of the pouring spout shown in FIGS. figures 1 and 2 ,
  • the figure 4 is a front view of the spout shown in Figures 1 to 3 ,
  • the figure 5 is a side view of the pouring spout shown in Figures 1 to 4 .

The jug 1 illustrated at figure 1 comprises a double-walled isothermal container 2 made of stainless steel. The container 2 has a bottom 7 and is surmounted by an annular piece 3 having a spout 4. A lid 5 closes the piece 3 while leaving a passage to the spout 4 for the drink, if desired by means of a mechanism. A handle 6 is issued 3. Part 3 is made of plastic material, for example polypropylene. The carafe 1 can in particular be used to collect the drink made with a coffee maker.

As best seen in Figures 2 and 3 , the spout 4 has a curved upper wall 10, of rectilinear section, inclined towards the inside of the carafe. As illustrated in figure 3 the angle of inclination is 35 °. This angle of inclination is defined relative to the bottom 7 of the jug. The upper wall 10 has a central pouring portion 11 having a curvature more pronounced than the curvature of the lateral portions 12. This arrangement limits the flow width of the beverage when pouring.

The walls 10 and 20 form a pouring end 22. The lower portion of the wall 20 is connected by a substantially vertical outer recess 21 to a base 28.

The top wall 10 has a glossy surface finish. The surface condition of the upper wall 10 is therefore very smooth. The lower wall 20, the outer recess 21 and the base 28 have a rougher surface condition. Such a surface state can be obtained by electroerosion. The depth of roughness obtained is advantageously between 0.005 and 0.10 mm and preferably between 0.02 and 0.03 mm.

The upper wall 10 is connected to the bottom wall 20 by a rounded connecting surface 23. As shown in figure 3 , the connecting surface 23 has a curved upper edge 24 extended by a substantially vertical lateral edge 25 and then by a curved lower edge 26. Due to the inclination of the walls 10 and 20 of the spout 4, the upper edge 24 has a curvature extending over 125 ° while the lower edge 26 has a curvature extending over 55 °. The upper edge 24 has a vertex 27 in the central pouring portion 11. As shown in FIG. figure 2 , the vertex 27 also extends to the lateral portions 12. The vertex 27 is in a substantially horizontal plane. However, the pouring end 22 is slightly lower than the lateral parts, the longitudinal inclination being less than 3 °.

The spout 4 has no sharp edge between the upper wall 10 and the connecting surface 23 nor between the connecting surface 23 and the bottom wall 20. The spout 4 also does not have a sharp edge between the edge upper 24 of the connecting surface 23 and the lateral edge 25, or between the lateral edge 25 and the lower edge 26 of the connecting surface 23. The smooth surface state of the upper wall 10 extends to the edge upper 24 included. The rough surface condition of the bottom wall 20 extends to the side edge 25 inclusive. A demolding plane can thus be located between the upper edge 24 and the lateral edge 25.

As shown in figure 3 , the axial length of the bottom wall 20 between the outer recess 21 and the lower edge 26 is 5 mm, and the height of the outer recess 21 is 1.1 mm.

Dans l'exemple illustré à la figure 3, la hauteur du bord latéral 25 est de 0,1 mm.The radius of curvature of the lower edge 26 is smaller than the radius of curvature of the upper edge 24. In the example illustrated in FIG. figure 3 the radius of the upper edge 24 is 0.5 mm and the radius of the lower edge 26 is 0.3 mm. The height of the lateral edge 25 is smaller than the radius of the lower edge 26. In the example illustrated in FIG. figure 3 the height of the lateral edge 25 is 0.1 mm.

The thickness of the pouring end 22 is smaller than the diameter of a drop of beverage suspended at the pouring end under the bottom wall 20 when said wall is substantially horizontal. This arrangement makes it possible to limit the quantity of drink joining the forming drop. In the example shown in figure 3 , the thickness of the pouring end 22 of the spout 4 is 1 mm. A larger thickness can be envisaged, without exceeding 1.5 mm for a polypropylene spout. Polypropylene has a higher surface energy than plastics such as PTFE, ABS or polyethylene. The pouring end must have a thickness less than the diameter of the suspended drop. As the diameter of the suspended drop is greater with the polypropylene than with the other aforementioned materials, the thickness of the pouring end can thus be larger and therefore less fragile.

As shown in Figures 4 and 5 , the base 28 of the spout 4 is connected in a central part to the outer recess 21 and in the side portions to a substantially vertical wall 29. As best seen in the figure 4 , the outer recess 21 has an elongated shape in a substantially horizontal orientation. However, the outer recess 21 has ends 32 raised relative to the central portion 31. The angle relative to the horizontal of the connecting line of the outer recess 21 to the bottom wall 20 is preferably between 10 ° and 20 ° and is for example 15 °, as shown in FIG. figure 4 .

The operation of the present invention is as follows.

Le caractère lisse du bord supérieur 24 facilite l'écoulement de la boisson hors du bec verseur 4.When the user inclines the carafe 1 to pour the drink, the drink flows through the spout 4. The smoothness of the upper wall 10 facilitates the flow of the liquid. Depending on the speed and flow rate of the flow, the drink may flow partly following the bottom wall 20, due to the attraction of the liquid by the surface of the end of the spout. The axial length of the bottom wall 20 then prevents the flow of the drink along the base 28 of the spout. However, when the payout is sufficiently straightforward, that is to say when the drink flows without significant jolts thanks to a higher speed and a higher flow rate, the sufficiently small radius of curvature of the upper edge 24 allows the liquid to flow. escape the attraction of the walls of the spout. The smooth nature of the upper edge 24 facilitates the flow of the drink out of the spout 4.

The axial length of the bottom wall 20 prevents the drink from flowing along the side wall of the carafe.

In addition, when the pouring is sufficiently straightforward, that is to say when the drink flows smoothly, the spout 4 according to the invention makes it possible to avoid breaking suddenly the flow of the liquid during the raising said spout, due to the absence of sharp edge along the connecting surface 23. As a result, the amount of liquid held under the spout 4 is less.

When the upper wall 10 has reached a vertical position in the central portion 11, a drop of drink can remain suspended on the upper wall 10 by bearing along the top 27 of the upper edge 24. In these conditions, the return of the jug in the rest position prevents the drop from falling.

However, a drop may also remain suspended at the pouring end 22 after stopping the flow of the drink. The suspended drop then bears on both the upper edge 24 and the lower edge 26. Under these conditions, the drop slides along the bottom wall 20 when the user lifts the spout 4. The roughness of the wall lower 20 brakes the movement of the drop.

The external recess 21 makes it possible to capture the drop suspended under the outer wall 20, which tends to slide under the said wall when the jug 1 is brought back to the rest position illustrated in FIG. figure 3 .

Many improvements can be made to this carafe as part of the claims.

In particular, the presence of a lateral edge 25 is not necessary.

Summit 27 does not necessarily fit into a plan. The height of the top 27 of the upper edge 24 may in particular be lower in the central portion of the pour 11, so as to form a neck.

The upper edge 24 and / or the lower edge 26 may have a variable radius of curvature.
