Abstract

Operation mechanism for venetian blinds which simultaneously tries to reduce the size of the mechanism and to increase its simplicity and the sturdiness of its component parts, for which the transmission system from the input tubular cogwheel, operated by the tubular control rod by a cardan joint in order to adjust the inclination of the vanes, consists of a second cogwheel of a considerably smaller diameter which engages the former and which is coaxial to a spindle which acts on the output cogwheel, which is keyed to the shaft which turns the vanes.

Description

  • The present invention relates to a gear for handling a shutter of Venetian type. More particularly, the invention is related to a shutter of Venetian type, having several independent sheets with properties of changing orientation and covering or reducing the exposed area of the window itself by coupling or extending the sheets. This type of gear has been designed to achieve an easy handling and a solid structure for the manipulation.
  • BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION.
  • As known, shutters of the Venetian type contain several parallel sheets that can be coupled or extended with a string through holes at the end of the sheets; upon pushing from the lower sheet, it proceeds to rise the unit with the parallel ones, thus pushing the remaining sheets to the desired level. The directional angle of the sheets are also regulated for luminosity from the maximum allowable one, down to their closing when the sheets became in contact at their borders or to the marginal areas.
  • The inventor of this patent application is the owner of the Spanish utility model number 9702192, wherein it was described a gear for directional and stopping of a mechanism for the above mentioned shutter. In said utility model, the axis of the gear has a tubular shape and is fixed in the upper portion using an articulation of the "cardan" type to a tubular pinion which remains in an axial prolongation through an intermediate system of dentate wheels. The dentate wheels have an angular movement of the basement for the sheets, due to the tubular pinion. In such an axis, the pass-through for the strings of opening and closing of the shutter, can be moved in an axial angle against an applied force of a spring attached to Y shape attachment ending with a striated rolling wheel. This rolling wheel acts as a stopping mechanism for the string when pushing, with the effect of the mentioned spring and a fixed roll. The stopping mechanism that includes the two striated rolls, maintains the string blocked and can be separated only when it is activated below the commanding wheel. The above solution, is valid from a theoretical point of view, but is most problematic in practice due to the transmission system from the tubular pinion to the splitting that activates the angular movement of the sheets, in view of the following:
  • (a) When considering the complexity of the structure of the intermediate wheels mechanism, the available space is significantly reduced and thus the dimensions of the wheels can not be increased and as a consequence, the user must apply a considerable force.
  • (b) The above mentioned limited space does not allow the use of strong wheels which prolong the life of the mechanism and will reduce troubleshooting.
  • BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION.
  • The invention relates to a mechanism for the manipulation of shutters of the Venetian type which comprises a tubular stick wherein at the upper portion and through an axis of the "cardan" type, being somehow prolonged, ending with a tubular pinion thus allowing the pass through of strings.
  • For raising and lowering the sheets that can be stopped, there are required two rolls: one fixed and the second mobile, which are towed against the force produced by a spring through the tubular stick. In this manner, the tubular pinion transmits the movement of the stick of the Y shape that does change the angle of the sheets, being characterized by the fact that the tubular pinion is attached directly to another pinion of a longer diameter. This pinion is included in the axis and attached thereto is a torque that works on the exit of the pinion, thus protruding the Y shape that enables the angular movement of the sheets.
  • DESCRIPTION OF THE FIGURE.
  • Figure 1, illustrates in perspective a gear for handling shutters of the Venetian type according to the invention in which the outer shell is sectioned in its structure.
  • (a) As can be noticed, there is a commanding wheel (1) with a tubular configuration which includes a string (2) for opening and closing the sheets. This commanding wheel in its upper end does attach a cardan" (3) articulation to which is linked, in a short portion (4),which is joined to a pinion (5) in the outer shell (6) of the gear.
  • (b) The pinion (5) has a tubular configuration for the inclusion of the strings (2) directed to two striated rolls (7) and (8) ; the first linked to a Y shaped attachment (9) which tends to go up due to a spring (not shown in the Figure); the spring can be contracted by tracking over the commanding wheel (1) and the above two striated rolls act as a braking system for the strings which regulate the sheets in different position at a desired high of the lower portion of the shutter.
  • In view of the above basic structure, the characteristics of the invention are based on the fact that the tubular pinion (5) fits with another pinion of a bigger diameter (10) which is linked to an axis (11) protruded in a torque (12).
  • DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
  • The structure of the invention does resolve the above mentioned problems. In a concrete way, and basically using the previous explained mechanism, the characteristics of the new system is based upon the fact that the string for commanding the movement pass through the tubular pinion, fitting directly with the pinion attached to the Y shaped attachment that makes the angular movement of the sheets; if we consider that no intermediate transmission is involved then, the structure becomes smooth with stronger pinions ending with a pinion of extended diameter that considerably reduces the force needed to be implemented by the user.
  • From this basic and conventional structure, the characteristics of the invention is based upon the fact that the tubular pinion (5) fits with a pinion of a considerable diameter (10) which is linked to an axis (11) protruded in a (12) transferring the movement to the pinion (13) that moves the sheets and regulates the direction thereof.
  • It can be easily understood from the Figure, that the exit pinion (10) has a considerable longer diameter than the tubular pinion (5) thus enabling the transmission of the movement to the Y shape which regulates the angular movement of the sheets with less effort to the user.
  • The existence of two pinions as a way of transmission, allows the usage of a stronger unit due to the additional available space. These facts prolongs the life of the mechanism and diminishes the number of anticipated problems. Finally, the simplification of the transmission (due to reduced number of parts) makes this unit lower in cost and reduces problems in the transmission.
  • It should be clear that the description of the embodiments and attached Figure as set forth in this specification serves only for a better understanding of the invention, without limiting its scope as covered by the following Claims. It should also be clear that a person in the art, after reading the present specification could make adjustments or amendments to the attached Figures and above described embodiments that would still be covered by the following Claims.

Claims (1)

  1. A mechanism for the manipulation of shutters of the Venetian type which comprehends a tubular stick to which at the upper portion and through an axis of the "cardan" type is somehow prolonged, ending with a tubular pinion allowing the pass through of strings for raising and lowering the sheets that can be stopped using two rolls (one fixed and the second kinetic), which is towed against the force produced by a spring through the tubular stick; the tubular pinion transmit the movement of the stick of the Y shape that changes the angle of the sheets, characterized by the fact that the tubular pinion attaches directly to a pinion of longer diameter which is included in the axis and attached thereto a torque that work on the exit pinion protruding the Y shape that enables the angular movement of the sheets wherein the whole system allows the two described pinions an additional available space with a multiplied transmission thus requiring less effort by the user through the commanding stick.
