Abstract

L'invention concerne un système de régulation de la vitesse de roulement pour véhicules automobiles, commandé électroniquement et dont le fonctionnement dépend d'une distance. Avec ce système, pendant une première phase de régulation, une vitesse prédéterminée est fondalement maintenue constante jusqu'à ce que le véhicule pourvu dudit système se trouve à une distance minimale prédéterminée par rapport à un véhicule roulant devant lui, voire en deçà de cette distance, et, pendant une seconde phase de régulation, à partir du moment où le véhicule a atteint cette distance minimale prédéterminée, ou bien se trouve en deçà de cette distance, une régulation de vitesse est effectuée de telle sorte que la distance minimale prédéterminée soit maintenue pour que le véhicule pourvu dudit système suive l'autre véhicule avec une régulation de la distance séparant ces deux véhicules. Dans le cas d'une accélération commandée par l'actionnement de la pédale d'accélérateur, pendant la première ou la seconde phase de régulation, accélération qui fait que le véhicule dépasse la vitesse momentanément prédéterminée pour atteindre une vitesse réelle supérieure, une nouvelle vitesse est prédéterminée en fonction de la vitesse réelle supérieure, par actionnement d'un élément de commande de réglage.
