Abstract

The invention provides a key holder (10) comprising a housing (12) and a key (38) pivotally mounted between a storage position in which it is retracted in a housing (36) of the housing and an out of use position which is angularly offset by about 180 ° relative to the storage position, of the type in which the pivot axis (A, 46) of the key (38) is arranged in the vicinity of an angle (20-24) of the housing (12), and of the type in which the key comprises a key body or rod (38), one end (44) of which is pivotally mounted relative to the housing (12) around said axis (A), characterized in that the key rod (38) is flat, and in that the pivot axis (A) is perpendicular to the plane of the flat key rod (38). <IMAGE>

Description

The present invention relates to a key holder of the retractable key.

The invention relates more particularly to such a keychain used in the automotive industry, especially for make a so-called "electronic" key which is an object identification of an authorized user of a vehicle who includes active electronic components or passive arranged in a box of the electronic key.

Such an electronic key allows, in operation normal, to access the vehicle if it is a compliant key and it allows in particular to unlock the various openings of the vehicle such as in particular its access doors to the passenger compartment of the vehicle. It can also allow the use of the vehicle by constituting a badge necessary for the order anti-theft means.

In the event of failure of the electronic system which controls the unlocking and locking of the different opening, it is necessary to have a mechanical key "classic" allowing in particular to manually open a vehicle door lock.

The body or stem of the classic mechanical key is not so used very rarely and so it turned out desirable to be able to store the key rod in a key holder of the retractable key type.

Thus, by way of example, document DE-A-4,226,579 describes and represents a keychain of the type comprising a case and a pivotally mounted key between a storage position in which it is retracted into a housing of the housing and an output position which is offset angularly about 180 ° from the position of storage, of the type in which the pivot axis of the key is arranged in the vicinity of a corner of the housing, and of the type in which the key comprises a key body or rod, one of which end is pivotally mounted relative to the housing around of said axis.

The object of the invention is to propose a key holder of this type in which the key rod can be easily handled between its two extreme angular positions of use and storage, while having an aesthetic case and little bulky.

To this end, the invention provides a key holder comprising a housing and a key mounted pivoting between a storage position in which it is retracted into a housing for a housing and an outlet position for use which is angularly offset by about 180 ° from the storage position, of the type in which the axis of pivoting of the key is arranged in the vicinity of an angle of the case, and of the type in which the key comprises a body or key shank, one end of which is pivotally mounted by relative to the housing around said axis, characterized in that the key shank is flat, and in that the pivot axis is perpendicular to the general plane of the spanner wrench.

According to other characteristics of the invention:

  • the housing is delimited by at least two main parallel walls and by at least one side wall perpendicular to the main walls, the key storage housing is delimited by at least the internal face of said side wall, and one of the two walls main comprises a longitudinal slot for the passage of the flat key rod between its storage and use positions;
  • the storage housing is delimited by an internal partition of the housing parallel to said side wall;
  • said side wall of the housing has a notch facilitating the gripping of the flat key rod for its extraction from the storage housing;
  • the housing is in the general shape of a rectangular parallelepiped, and said side wall extends along one of the parallel edges of great length of the two main rectangular walls of the housing;
  • the housing comprises two complementary shells separated by a median joint plane parallel to the two main walls;
  • the housing delimits an internal cavity which receives components belonging to a remote control system of means for locking sashes of a motor vehicle.

Other characteristics and advantages of the invention will appear on reading the detailed description which follows for the understanding of which reference will be made to the appended drawings in which:

  • Figure 1 is a three-quarter perspective view from above of a key holder made in accordance with the teachings of the invention and on which the flat key rod is shown in the stowed position;
  • Figure 2 is a view similar to that of Figure 1 in which the flat key rod is shown in an intermediate angular position being extracted from the storage housing;
  • Figure 3 is a view similar to those of Figures 1 and 2 in which the flat key rod is shown in the extended position of use;
  • Figure 4 is a view similar to that of Figure 1 in which the key holder is shown in perspective from three-quarters of below;
  • Figure 5 is another perspective view of three-quarters of the key holder according to the invention in which the main components of the housing are shown in exploded form.

The key holder 10 according to the invention shown in the figures consists essentially of a hollow housing 12 which is a molded plastic part of general shape rectangular parallelepiped which has two pieces or complementary shells respectively upper 14S and lower 141 which are interconnected according to a joint plane median P.

The housing 12 thus comprises two main walls parallel and rectangular 16 and 18 belonging respectively at the upper and lower shells 14S and 14I, two long parallel and opposite side walls 20 and 22 each formed for half in the upper shell and for half in the lower shell and which each extend the along opposite long parallel edges of main rectangular walls 16 and 18, and finally two walls short parallel and opposite sides 24 and 26 also each formed for half in the upper shell and for half in the lower shell and which each extend the along opposite parallel edges of short length of main rectangular walls 16 and 18.

As can be seen in Figure 5, the hollow housing 12 delimits a main internal cavity 28 in which is arranged a printed circuit board 30 which carries electronic components 32 which may include a or more switches, means of transmission by infrared or radio frequency signals, etc.

More precisely, the cavity 28 is delimited laterally by an internal partition 34, made integrally by molding with the two shells of the housing 12 and which is a flat partition parallel to the long side wall 20 with which it delimits a housing 36 which, within the meaning of the invention constitutes a storage housing for a rod of flat key 38. The internal partition 34 can be formed to half in the upper shell and half in the shell lower, or be molded with the lower shell and extend vertically to the internal face of the main wall 16.

The storage housing 36 is closed by the portion facing the rectangular main wall 16 while it is open transversely in the main wall rectangular 18 in which they open out in the form a longitudinal slot 40 which extends into the wall short lateral 24 at least partly in the total thickness of the case 12.

The long side wall 20 has a notch or recess 42 in the shape of a half moon which is open in the lower rectangular main wall 18.

The key rod 38 is a flat key rod, that is to say that it is generally in the form of a plate elongated with one longitudinal end 44 mounted articulated on the housing 12 by means of a transverse axis joint 46.

The articulation axis 46 is arranged at one of the angles of the box 12, that is to say here more precisely in the vicinity of the angle corresponding to the intersection of the lateral faces 20 and 24.

In accordance with the teachings of the invention, the articulation of the longitudinal end 44 of the key shank plate 38 is arranged so that it can rotate 180 degrees around a geometric axis A which is perpendicular in the general plane of the elongated flat key rod 38, and which is perpendicular to the side wall 20 and to the partition intermediate 34.

The axis of articulation A is arranged at the angle 47 of the box 12 corresponding to the intersection of the side walls long 20 and short 24.

In the position shown in Figure 1, the body of flat key 38 is in the stowed position in the housing storage 36, that is to say that it is fully retracted in this housing so that it does not protrude out of the general envelope with a rectangular parallelepiped shape case 12.

As can also be seen in Figure 4, the slot 40 is very narrow and only the lower edge 48 of the stem flat key 38 is visible from slot 40.

To facilitate the extraction of the flat key rod 38 out of the storage housing 36, the notch or recess 42 allows easy gripping of the rod 38, this gripping being further facilitated by a notch 50 formed in the face lateral lateral 52 of the flat key rod 38 adjacent to the side wall 20.

As we can see by successively comparing Figures 1 to 3, the passage of the flat key rod 38 of its storage position in its out-of-use position corresponds to its pivoting of 180 degrees around its axis of joint A.

The storage of the flat key rod 38 is carried out by rotating 180 degrees from position illustrated in Figure 3 to the position illustrated in Figures 1 and 4.

The clevis mounting of the hinge pin 46 of the flat key rod 38, between the parts facing the wall lateral 20 and intermediate partition 34, is particularly resistant so as to allow maneuvering of a lock controlling a lock by means of the key rod flat 38, in the out-of-use position, the housing 12 thus constituting a gripping and handling member of the key analogous to a key head of classic design.

Claims (6)

  1. Keychain (10) comprising a case (12) and a key (38) pivotally mounted between a storage position in which it is retracted into a housing (36) of the housing and an out-of-use position which is angularly offset about 180 ° from the storage position, of the type wherein the key has a flat key body or rod (38) one end (44) of which is pivotally mounted relative to the housing (12) around a pivot axis (A), and of the type in which the axis (A, 46) is perpendicular to the plane of the rod flat key (38) and is arranged in the vicinity of an angle (20-24, 47) of the housing (12), characterized in that the housing (12) is delimited by at least two main parallel walls (16, 18) and by at least one side wall (20) perpendicular to the main walls (16, 18), in that the housing (36) of storage of the key is delimited by at least the internal face of said side wall (20), and in that one (18) of the two main walls (16, 18) has a longitudinal slot (40) for the passage of the flat key rod (38) between its storage and use positions.
  2. Keychain according to the preceding claim, characterized in that the storage housing (36) is delimited by an internal partition (34) of the housing (12) parallel to said side wall (20).
  3. Keychain according to any one of the claims above, characterized in that said side wall (20) of the housing includes a notch (42) facilitating the gripping of the flat key rod (38) for extraction from the storage compartment (36).
  4. Keychain according to any one of the claims previous, characterized in that the housing (12) is shaped general of rectangular parallelepiped and in that said side wall (20) extends along one of these parallel edges of long length of the two main walls (16, 18) rectangular of the case (12).
  5. Keychain according to any one of the claims previous, characterized in that the housing has two complementary hulls (14I, 14S) separated by a plane of median joint (P) parallel to the two main walls (16, 18).
  6. Keychain according to any one of the claims previous, characterized in that the housing defines a internal cavity (28) which receives components belonging to a remote control system for locking means openings of a motor vehicle.
