Description

Discharge lamps, in particular of the halide type metallic (typically sodium iodide) are increasingly frequently used as light sources in such projectors.

They indeed enjoy the appreciable advantage of power, comparable power consumption, provide light intensity much more important than in the case of halogen filament lamps classics.

However, these lamps have the disadvantage of generating, level of their arc, electromagnetic fields that pose a serious problem with compatibility requirements electromagnetic, both in transmission and in reception, generally imposed by the specifications. It will be observed in this regard that, by the development of electronic circuits ensuring certain safety functions on board a vehicle, these requirements are today more and more severe.

There are certainly provisions to shield as much as possible a discharge lamp and its supply circuits, but such provisions generally are incompatible with the environment specific to a motor vehicle headlamp. So for example, it it is impossible to place the entire projector in a cage Faraday surrounding it completely, because it is necessary to leave free the region of light output at ice level.

We know from document DE 197 03 233 A projector of motor vehicle which comprises in particular, for carrying out the shielding of a discharge lamp, a shielding plate (14) mounted on the projector housing behind the mirror receiving the lamp discharge, so as to minimize rearward disturbances. This plate extends freely in the interior space of the case, between the latter and the mirror.

However, this solution has certain drawbacks. All first, it complicates the mounting of the projector, because it is necessary to proceed with the mounting and fixing of the plate on the housing before mounting the reflector. In addition, in the simplified figures (in particular Figures 3 and 4) of this document, we have not shown details such as the means of mounting the mirror in the housing, the means for manual or automatic adjustment of the orientation of the mirror to adjust the position of the light beam, etc. And Figure 5, which represents this kind of detail, no longer shows the armor plate back. We understand that the simultaneous implementation of this plate shielding and the aforementioned means will be delicate risk of requiring an increase in the size of the projector and / or leaving the armor plate interrupted in places, which affects the quality shielding.

In addition, the plate provided in this document must have a relatively large central opening for access to the lamp, and rear cap (7) of the headlamp must then be metallized to complete the shielding, which further adds to cost and can be tricky if the cap is a soft elastomer cap or the like.

The present invention aims to propose a vehicle headlamp automobile equipped with a discharge lamp and shielding means improved in particular at the level of the arc of the lamp, which are a simple construction and implementation, which does not present not the aforementioned drawbacks.

  • said cap is constituted by a conductive sheet pressed against the rear of the mirror.

Other aspects, objects and advantages of the present invention will appear better on reading the following detailed description of a preferred embodiment thereof, given by way of example and made with reference to the accompanying drawing, in which FIG. 1 is a schematic view in partial axial vertical section of part of a projector according to the invention.

A motor vehicle headlamp so comprises classic a case closed at the front by a crystal and defining a interior space. These elements were not represented on the drawings for the sake of simplification.

In the interior space of the case is housed a mirror 20 in which is mounted a discharge lamp 10, conventionally per se.

The lamp 10 has two electrodes housed in a bulb 11, with an external current return conductor 12. The lamp bears against the rear of the mirror 20 by a radial flange 13, extended backwards by a base 14 for its connection with a power supply.

The mirror 20 has a lamp hole 21 surrounded by a axial flange 22 for setting the lamp transversely to its axis.

From the rear side of the mirror are provided, by example from molding, a plurality of screwing barrels 23 extending parallel to the axis of the projector.

In addition, there is conventionally provided a concealer 30 intended on the one hand to limit the emission field of the arc of the lamp 10 so that it only reaches the useful regions of the mirror 20, and obscure direct light.

This concealer has a kind of bell 31 fixed, as is will see in detail later, by at least one arm 32 passing through an orifice or a notch formed in the mirror in the vicinity of the lamp 10.

The screen and its holding arm are made by folding metal sheet.

We will now describe in detail the means which allow shielding against electromagnetic radiation emitted by the lamp 10 in particular at the level of its arc.

These means essentially include the combination of the screen 30 described above, made of conductive material, and a cap 40, also made of conductive material, which extends behind and in the vicinity of the reflecting surface of the mirror 20.

The contours of this cap 40 are determined advantageously so that in combination with the contours of the screen 30, these two elements cover the entire solid angle emission centered on the arc of the lamp 10.

In a first embodiment, the cap 40 is made of a stamped thin metal sheet, which is applied during mounting substantially against the rear face of the mirror 20.

In a second embodiment, the cap 40 is incorporated in the mirror, the latter being produced by overmolding of thermosetting material on the cap.

In a third embodiment, it can be a film of conductive material projected against the rear face of the mirror, by sputtering or the like, or alternatively conductive paint with aluminum, nickel-chromium, copper, ..., possibly coated with a protective varnish.

In all cases, the cap 40 is interrupted at a level central opening to allow the introduction of the lamp 10 into the mirror 20.

The electrical connection between the various elements participating in the shielding is carried out using a conductive plate 50 in the form crown general reported on the screwing barrels 23 of the mirror. Thus the cap 40, produced in the present example in sheet metal stamped, has a tab 41 whose free end 42 forms a lug intended to be applied against said plate 50 at the level of the screw 60 engaged in one of the barrels 23 of the mirror 20.

This plate 50 has a central opening for the passage of lamp base 14 and high-voltage connector associated, as will be described later.

Alternatively, a specific conductive part can be provided for the connection between the cover 40 and the plate 50, or else provide that the cover and the plate are made in one piece.

The high-voltage connector 80 is of the conventional type in itself. he is equipped at its periphery with one or more flexible legs 82 in conductive material, intended to come into contact with the surface back of the plate 50 during the fitting of the connector.

Par ailleurs, on observe que la patte 32 de maintien de l'occulteur 30 est repliée à son extrémité libre en 33 pour être en contact avec la face antérieure de la plaque 50, au niveau de l'un des canons de vissage 23, la vis 60 coopérant avec ce canon assurant le maintien en contact mutuel de ladite plaque et dudit repli 33.Furthermore, it is observed that the tab 32 for maintaining the screen 30 is folded at its free end at 33 to be in contact with the front face of the plate 50, at one of the screwing barrels 23, the screw 60 cooperating with this barrel ensuring the maintaining said plate and said fold 33 in mutual contact.

Advantageously, a means is also provided for provide shielding at the generally annular gap which separates the connector from the radial flange 13 of the lamp.

In this case, this plea consists of an annular bead of preferably flexible conductive material, for example a braid 85, the dimensions of which are chosen so that it fills most of the aforementioned gap.

This braid 85 is connected to ground for example using a leg 43 integrally formed with the armor cap 40 and extending radially inward from said cap, to reach the braided.

Alternatively, any other type of connection of the annular conductive element 85 with one or other of the different grounded parts.

Thus, mutual electrical contact is made, first part of the cover 40, second part of the shield 30 and third part of connector 80, which define a set of capture of the electromagnetic fields emitted by the lamp, which here is connected to the vehicle ground by the shield of the high-voltage cable 92 connecting connector 80 to the ballast circuit (housed in the armored box 100).

It will be observed here that the shielding of the power cable to high-voltage 92 is in contact, within the connector 80, with the or the conductive elements 82 equipping this connector. Alternatively, we can provide that the connector 80 will be covered with a cover in conductive material, on the one hand in contact with the cable shield 92 and on the other hand with the plate 50, or directly with the cover 40.

Furthermore, the plate 50 in the form of a crown fills also a mechanical function for fixing the lamp 10, so similar to the case of filament lamps.

Thus the plate 50 comprises, conventionally in itself, arrangements 51, 52 for the articulated mounting and the attachment of a fixing spring pin 70, of which a central part is supported elastically against the rear face of the flange 13 of the lamp 10.

Of course, provision can be made for replacing the fixing by screw 60, any other means of fixing the plate 50 on the rear of the mirror 20, and in particular an assembly by crimping, by clawing, by bayonet mechanism, etc.

Finally, the ballast 100 housing, to which the shielding of the high-voltage conductor 92, and if necessary the braid of specific mass 90, are connected to the mass of the on-board network 110 of the vehicle.

Of course, the present invention is in no way limited to embodiments described and shown, but those skilled in the art will be able to make any variant or modification in accordance with his spirit.

In particular, the invention applies equally well to projectors parabolic type, that is to say whose mirror, in cooperation possible with the ice, generates the beam itself, only elliptical type headlamps, having a projection lens a concentrated light spot formed in a second focus of the mirror.
