Abstract

Cette invention concerne un système de transmission de données numériques représentant un original sur plusieurs lignes de transmission (101) dont certaines au moins possèdent une largeur de bande limitée. Ce système comprend les éléments suivants: une source de données numériques où sont stockées des données numériques représentant un original; un récepteur de données numériques qui va recevoir les données numériques représentant l'original par l'une des liaisons de transmission possédant une bande d'une largeur limitée; et enfin, un émetteur de données numériques qui va émettre les données numériques représentant l'original vers le récepteur de données numériques par l'intermédiaire d'une liaison de transmission possédant une bande d'une largeur limitée. Cette émission se fait en plusieurs blocs (76) qui sont transmis de manière séquentielle et à une vitesse déterminée par la bande de largeur limitée. Chaque bloc consiste en un ensemble incomplet de données et comprend des parties de plusieurs trames. Chaque trame peut être visualisée par le récepteur selon un ordre voulu, ceci même lorsque la totalité des blocs n'a pas été reçue. La réception des blocs suivants par le récepteur permet d'améliorer de manière cumulative la qualité des données numériques visualisées.
