Unter einer Bewegungsbahnebene ist im vorliegenden Fall eine gedachte Ebene zu verstehen, in welcher sich ein beliebig angenommener Punkt des Filtertowstrangs insbesondere bei einer Umlenkung des Strangs um eine Umlenkrolle oder dergleichen bewegt. Um den konstruktiven Aufbau der Vorrichtung und ihre Anordnung zur Weiterverarbeitungsmaschine nicht zu ändern, ist vorgesehen, daß der Filtertowstrang nach seiner Auslenkung aus der ersten Bewegungsbahnebene heraus in diese zurückgeführt wird. Besonders vorteilhaft ist eine Fortführung des erfindungsgemäß vorgeschlagenen Verfahrens, die darin besteht, daß wenigstens bei einer Umlenkung der Querschnitt des Filtertowstrangs verkleinert wird. Sind mehrere Umlenkungen vorgesehen, so wird der Querschnitt des Filtertowstrangs bei aufeinanderfolgenden Umlenkungen quer zur Bewegungsbahnebene jeweils weiter reduziert. Auf diese Weise kann der Querschnitt des Filtertowstrangs vor dessen Einlauf in den Einlauftrichter der Filterstrangmaschine dem Querschnitt des herzustellenden Filterstrangs bereits weitgehend angepaßt werden. Dabei bewirken die mehrfachen Umlenkungen in seitlicher Richtung eine weitere Verringerung des unerwünschten Towsplits. Vor oder nach dem Umlenken des Filtertowstrangs quer zur Bewegungsbahnebene kann er gemäß der Erfindung auch noch wenigstens einmal in der Bewegungsbahnebene umgelenkt werden, wodurch sich ebenfalls eine Verringerung des Towsplits ergibt.
Bei einer Vorrichtung der eingangs angegebenen Art wird die der Erfindung zugrundeliegende Aufgabe dadurch gelöst, daß wenigstens eine weitere, den Filtertowstrang quer zur Bewegungsbahnebene umlenkende Führungseinrichtung vorgesehen ist.
