Abstract

The invention concerns a twice-usable envelope made from a single-piece blank of paper, cardboard or plastic sheeting divided by a fold line into a front (3) and a back (4) which, when folded together, form a container. The container is held together by side tabs (9, 10) folding about additional fold lines in the blank and is closed by a gummed closure flap (12) which can be folded about another fold line. The tabs (9, 10) are designed so that they overlap when folded over about the fold lines (7, 8) against the front (3) of the envelope. Located on each side of the end (18) of the closure flap (12) is a gummed strip (19, 20).

Description

The invention relates to a two-way envelope from a one-piece blank made of paper, cardboard or a plastic film, on which a front part and a rear part are formed by a folding line, which, after being unfolded, form a container which is held together by means of lateral folding flaps which can be folded about further folding lines of the blank is and can be closed by means of a closure flap which can be folded around a further fold line and provided with adhesive.

Such a two-way envelope is known from DE 34 16 621 A1 and US-A-4 089 419 and is intended to be used both in the initial mailing from the sender to the addressee and also in the return from the original addressee to the sender to be able to. Such envelopes are suitable, for example, for use in mail order companies. However, the known two-way envelopes have the disadvantage that they are difficult to fold and there is a risk that they will be damaged when they are opened for the first time and then reused.

The object of the invention is to improve a two-way envelope of the type mentioned in such a way that simple folding is possible and damage to the envelope when opening is largely avoided.

According to the invention, the object is achieved by the characterizing features of claim 1. Advantageous embodiments of the invention are described in the dependent claims.

Fig. 1 shows the blank 2 of the two-way envelope 1 in the opened position. The blank 2 has a central surface section which forms the front part 3 of the two-way envelope 1. One edge of the central surface section is designed as a folded edge 11, to which the closure flap 12 is connected as a further surface section. The other edge of the central surface section is designed as a folded edge 5, to which the surface section of the rear part 4 adjoins. Folding flaps 9, 10 are formed on the side edges of the central surface section and connected to the front part 3 via folding lines 7, 8. At the end sections 13, 14 of the folding tabs 9, 10, insertion tabs 15, 16 are formed by means of slots 21, 22. The slots 21, 22 are arranged parallel to the fold lines 7, 8. When the blank 2 is folded to form the envelope, the insertion tabs 15, 16 are inserted into a slot 17 which is formed on the rear part 4. In order to facilitate the insertion of the insertion tabs 15, 16 into the slot 17, it is possible to design the free corner sections 27, 28 of the insertion tabs 15, 16 to be rounded or beveled.

A transverse strip 23 is formed on the end section 18 of the closure flap 12 by means of a separating perforation 24. An adhesive strip 19 is provided on the surface of the transverse strip 23 that serves as the rear side 25 when the two-way envelope 1 is used for the first time. By means of this adhesive strip 19, the closure flap 12 is glued to the rear part 4. To open the flap 12, this must be released from the transverse strip 23 on the separating perforation 24, which remains adhering to the rear part 4. On the front side 26 of the closure flap 12, in addition to the separating perforation 24, a further adhesive strip 20 is formed, by means of which the closure flap 12 is glued to the rear part 4 when the two-way envelope 1 is used for the second time.

To produce the two-way envelope 1 from the blank 2, the rear part 4 is first folded around the fold line 5 onto the front part 3. Then the folding flaps 9, 10 are folded around the folding lines 7, 8 onto the rear part 4 and the insertion flaps 21, 22 are inserted into the slot 17 of the rear part 4 (FIGS. 2 and 3). Then the flap 12 is folded around the fold line 11 on the rear part 4. By removing a protective film from the adhesive tape 19, the flap 12 then adheres to the rear part 4 (FIGS. 4 and 5). For a second use of the blank 2 as a two-way envelope 1, it is only required to unfold the blank 2 again in one plane and then to fold the rear part 4, the folding tabs 9, 10 and the closure flap 12 onto the front part 3 in the opposite direction as when it was first used. It is also possible to provide a rectangular or square opening in the front part 3 of the blank 2, which opening is closed with a transparent film. As a result, the two-way envelope 2 can be used as a window envelope.

Um das Einschieben zu erleichtern, sind die Eckabschnitte 28 der Einschublaschen 15, 16 abgeschrägt ausgebildet.FIG. 6 shows a blank 30 for the formation of a further two-way envelope 29. This blank 30 has no slot 17 in the rear part 4. The insertion tabs 15, 16 are formed on the folding tabs 9, 10 so as to be oriented opposite to one another. After folding the folding flaps 9, 10 around the folding lines 7, 8, the insertion flaps 15, 16 can therefore be inserted into one another in the slots 21, 22. In order to facilitate insertion, the corner sections 28 of the insertion tabs 15, 16 are designed with bevels.

In this blank 32, no insertion flaps 15, 16 are provided on the folding flaps 9, 10. The folding flaps 9, 10 are folded over to form the two-way envelope 31 only around the folding lines 7, 8 until they lie one on top of the other. Then the rear part 4 is folded onto the folding tabs 9, 10 and then, as described above, the closure is carried out by means of the closure flap 12.

In a further embodiment of the two-way envelopes 1, 29, 31, it is also possible to design the fold line 5 as a separating perforation. In this case, the rear part 4 of the cut can be used as a postcard be designed, which can then be forwarded for itself after loosening the relevant blank.
