Abstract

The invention relates to a mass-flow conveyor, from which falling shafts branch off in order to supply packaging machines with cigarettes. The object is to shut off the cigarette-filled falling shafts, relative to the mass flow passing through, during the standstill of the packaging machines in a way which treats the articles carefully. This is achieved by means of a blade (19), around which is guided a flexible band (17) which, on the one hand, is fastened in the region of the shaft inlet to a limiting wall (11) of the falling shaft (6), the said limiting wall being located in the feed side of the mass flow (3), and, on the other hand, is held behind the limiting wall (11) by a tension spring (22). The blade (19) can be moved obliquely upwards out of the limiting wall (11) to an opposite limiting wall (12). Located opposite the shaft inlet is a breathing compensating volume (32) of the mass flow (3), and a band roller (13) is arranged at the shaft inlet adjacently to the opposite limiting wall (12). This arrangement guarantees a smooth displacement of the articles during the shutting-off advance of the blade, during which the band continuously lifts the articles which are received by the compensating volume. <IMAGE>

Description

The invention relates to a conveyor system for transferring rod-shaped articles tobacco processing industry from one machine to at least one Further processing device, with a the articles in a transverse axial stack formation in essentially horizontally feeding conveyor track and at least one with the Conveyor path forming a T-junction, the articles essentially vertical downward, designed as a chute conveyor, which opposite the feeding conveyor track in the area of the T-branch through an article flow between opposite boundary walls of the chute in essentially penetrating transversely axially in the feed direction of the article mass flow Release agent can be shut off.

Conveying devices of the type described at the beginning for cigarettes, filter cigarettes or filter rods have proven their worth in the mass flow supply of feed devices (magazine shafts) of processing or transport elements, such as packing machines or tray filling devices, which are successively branched off along a feed path.
In the operation of such conveyors, critical problem areas always arise when individual processing elements fail or have to be switched off for other reasons, so that the articles permanently supplied in the main flow to supply the other consumers and the articles stagnating in the secondary flow have a quality-reducing effect on one another.

GB-A 2 157 252 has disclosed a shut-off device of the generic type in the form of a shut-off slide, the shut-off movement of which, or the displacement of the article caused thereby, fits into the continuous main flow of the articles.
In addition, GB-A 2 097 352 has disclosed a shut-off device in the form of a flexible band which is guided around a displaceable roller guide and which is pushed into a shut-off position by the moving article stream in the horizontally stretched state.

The invention has for its object to take measures that are special critical production zones and loading situations, which are particularly important between a flowing stream of articles and stationary articles of a stagnant Side stream result, soften and for a gentler article handling contribute.

This object is achieved in that the separating means with a vertical component can be moved obliquely upwards to the opposite shaft inlet edge, whereby the articles of the stagnant mass flow are gradually raised gently or rejected upwards into the main flow.
A preferred further development, which avoids any collecting nests in which articles could remain in the shaft area below the main flow, consists in the separating means having a band fastened to the shaft inlet of the boundary wall on the feed side, which band extends around the front edge of a sword which can be extended out of the boundary wall below the shaft inlet is guided around and is held at its free end by a spring-elastic train connection. The relatively sharp-edged deflection around the front edge of the sword ensures that the release agent is easily immersed in the article flow, this front edge alternatively consisting of a correspondingly small deflection roller.
According to an additional embodiment, according to which a belt roll which can be driven in the feed direction of the article mass flow is arranged on the shaft inlet edge of the opposite boundary wall, jamming of articles on the opposite boundary wall is prevented by the displacing effect of the release agent and the repellent effect of the belt roll being complementary.
A further development, which simplifies and compensates for the displacing effect of the separating agent, consists in that the shaft inlet, which can be shut off by the separating agent, is opposed by a breathing equalizing volume of the feeding conveyor track.
According to an expedient embodiment, this equalizing volume comprises two flaps which can be deflected about inner pivot axes and whose free ends are connected via a flexible cover resting on the article stream.
The shut-off movement of the separating means is expediently realized in that the sword is arranged on a pneumatically operated slide equipped with a linear guide.

The advantage achieved by the invention is that one is in the normal Flow of the article-inserting movement and action of the shut-off device ensures a gentle and gentle displacement of the articles.

The invention is illustrated below in the attached Illustrated embodiment illustrated.

The conveyor system shown in FIG. 1 is connected on the input side to a generator machine (not shown) in the form of a cigarette manufacturing machine or filter attachment machine, from which filter cigarettes 1 are transferred transversely axially to a horizontal main conveyor track 2 of the conveyor system, on which they are stacked in mass formation 3 in a main feed direction (arrow 4 ) to further processing devices, not shown, installed in succession along the main conveyor track 2 in the form of packing machines.
A conveyor track 6 leading vertically downward to a Peck machine, of which only one is shown, forms a T-branch together with the main conveyor track 2.
The main conveyor track 2 is partially delimited either by rigid wall parts or by conveyor belts 7, 8, 9 transporting in the direction of the arrow 4.
The downward conveying track 6 is designed as a vertical chute, which is provided with a first or - with respect to the feed direction 4 on the main conveying track 2 - upstream with a feed-side boundary wall 11 and an opposite boundary wall 12. At the shaft inlet of the opposite boundary wall 12 there is a belt roll 13 of the conveyor belt 9. At the shaft inlet, one end of a flexible, flat belt 17 is fastened to a horizontal leg of an angle plate 16 of the boundary wall 11, which with its width (perpendicular to the plane of the drawing) extends over the Depth of the chute 6 extends. The band 17 is guided around a relatively narrow, rounded front edge 18 of a sword 19, then around a deflection roller 21 mounted on the sword 19 and is held at its free end by a spring-elastic train connection 22. Belt 17 and sword 19 form a separating means 20 for shutting off the chute 6 from the main conveyor track 2.
The sword 19 can be moved with a vertical component of motion or diagonally upwards out of the boundary wall 11 in the direction of the opposite boundary wall, ie essentially in the same direction as the feed direction 4 of the mass flow 3 up to the vicinity of the belt roll 13. For this purpose, the sword according to Figures 2 and 3 is arranged on a carriage 23 which is provided with a linear guide 24 and can be moved back and forth by a pneumatic cylinder 26 which is articulated to a cross member 27 of a housing wall 28 and its actuating rod 29 engages the carriage 23 via a cross connection 31.
Opposite the shaft inlet of the chute 12, which can be shut off by the separating means 20, there is a breathing compensation volume 32 connected or interacting with the main conveyor track 3, consisting of two flaps 36, 37 which can be deflected about inner pivot axes 33, 34 and whose free ends are connected to the filter cigarettes 1 of the mass flow 3, flexible cover 38 formed as a chain mail are connected.

The mode of action is as follows:
In the normal operating state, in which the packing machine connected to the chute 11 requests and processes filter cigarettes 1, the separating means 20 is inoperative, ie the sword 19 is retracted behind the boundary wall 11 in accordance with the position drawn in solid lines, with the band 17 closely fitting to the boundary wall 11 creates. The mass flow 3 is partly branched off continuously into the chute 6 and, on the other hand, is conveyed further in the conveying direction 4 to subsequent packing machines.
If the packing machine fails or is shut down, the fur shaft is shut off either by an operator signal or an automatically triggered actuation signal to extend the separating means 20 in order to prevent damage to the cigarettes in the border zone of the shaft inlet. Thus, the sword 19 travels upwards out of the boundary wall 11 beyond the intermediate positions indicated by dash-dotted lines into the dash-dotted locking position on the belt roll 13. The belt 17, which continuously extends around the front edge 18 of the sword 19 up to the clamping point 14, lifts in this way the filter cigarettes 1 lying in the area of the shaft inlet gently to the level of the main conveyor track 2. The filter cigarettes 1 displaced from the mass flow 3 on the main conveyor track 2 can easily escape by being taken up by the opposite compensation volume 32, the flexible cover 38 or flaps 36 and 37 of which adapt differently to the level changes in the mass flow 3.
In addition, the running belt roll 13 produces a repelling effect, which counteracts jamming, on the cigarettes which are displaced by the protruding front edge 18 of the sword 19.
This effectively prevents Article 1 from being pinched, crushed and deformed and damaged when the chute 6 is shut off.
