Description

The present invention relates to a tap for a sink, or other sanitary appliance, with automatic opening and closing, and more particularly the operating member of such a tap.

Valves already known are provided with an infrared or ultrasonic detection cell capable of detecting the presence of the hands of a user and of transmitting the information to an electronic control module programmed to actuate one or two solenoid valves.

Among these taps, some have a detection cell positioned on the tap body either near the water outlet or at the base of the tap. However, these devices have for the most part this drawback that the uninformed user does not immediately understand the operating mode, particularly in the case where it is a simple tap, without mixing valve.

The present invention aims to remedy these drawbacks by proposing a device adaptable to a functioning tap. automatic, of simple construction, the essential characteristic of which is that the detection cell is incorporated in its operating member, which comprises on the front a window for the passage of radiation necessary for the operation of said cell, for example infrared radiation red.

To this end, and in accordance with the invention, the joystick or control button is extended by a housing adapted to contain a cylindrical body enclosing the detection cell.

According to a first embodiment of the invention, adapted to a simple non-mixing valve, said cylindrical body comprises at its inner end a cutout creating an opening for the passage of the electric cable used for the connection of the detection cell to a control of a solenoid valve ensuring water distribution.

In this embodiment, the operating member has no real utility as such, the water distribution being done automatically as soon as a user advances his hands in the direction of said operating member, which essentially serves to provoke the gesture of said user.

According to a second embodiment of the invention, adapted to a mixing valve, the cylindrical body is extended coaxially by a mixing cam, of a type known per se, to which it is secured and which is housed in a suitable housing extending the housing of said cylindrical body.

In this second embodiment, the cylindrical body is advantageously secured to the mixing cam by means of an angular part with a circular arc section, the base of which extends said cylindrical body, the assembly being movable in rotation about its axis. .

In this case, screws judiciously positioned on either side of the angular part make it possible, by serving as stops for said angular part, to limit the rotation of the mixing cam in both directions, said screws being able to advantageously be used for holding in translation of the mixing cam and extend so as to enter the detection cell in order to immobilize it in rotation and thus avoid deterioration of its power cable.

In this second embodiment, a solenoid valve is arranged on each of the water supply pipes, the control of these solenoid valves also being done by the detection cell, the operating member serving only for adjusting the temperature of the water mixture. hot / cold water.

The advantages and characteristics of the present invention will emerge more clearly from the description which follows and which refers to the appended drawing, which represents various non-limiting embodiments.

If we refer to Figure 1, we see in this figure the fictitious operating member of a valve according to the invention without mixing valve.

Le corps 10 du robinet comporte un perçage cylindrique 11 dans lequel est inséré un corps cylindrique 12 abritant la cellule de détection 5.The body 10 of the tap has a cylindrical bore 11 into which is inserted a cylindrical body 12 housing the detection cell 5.

The cylindrical body 12 is extended, at its internal end, by a part 13 providing a space 14 between the body 10 of the valve and the base of the cylindrical body 12 for the passage of the supply cable 50 which connects the cell 5 to the control a solenoid valve (not shown) placed upstream on the water supply pipe 15 which opens downstream in the spout 16.

A "control" handle 6 is secured to the cylindrical body 12 by means of a screw 60, this handle comprising a window 61 for the passage of radiation 62 emitted by the detection cell 5.

It is obvious that in this embodiment the "control" handle 6 has no real utility as such, serving only to cause the gesture of the user which will trigger the distribution of the water.

Referring now to Figure 2, we see in this figure the operating member of a mixing valve according to the invention.

The body 40 of the mixer has a cylindrical cavity 41 of diameter adapted to that of the cylindrical body 3 which is inserted therein, extended by a cavity 41 'of diameter adapted to that of a mixing cam 2.

A groove 22 of the cam 2 communicates with a vertical channel 42 starting from the cylindrical cavity 41 'and opening into a spout 43.

An infrared ray detection cell 5 is placed in the cylindrical body 3 and connected, by means of the power cable 50 passing through the fixing tail 44, to a control unit of two solenoid valves, not shown.

If one also refers to FIG. 2a, it can be seen that the cylindrical cavity 41 ′ partially crosses, substantially at its end, two vertical blind channels 45 and 46 connected to water supply pipes, respectively 47 for hot water and 48 for cold water.

A partial eccentric groove 20 of the mixing cam 2 delimits openings 45 'and 46' in the channels 45 and 46.

If we also refer to Figure 2b we can see that the maintenance of the mixing cam 2 in the cylindrical cavity 41 'is achieved by means of two screws 31 and 32 screwed into the body 40 under the cylindrical cavity 41' share and on the other side of a vertical line passing through the axis of the cam 2, and each comprising a collar, respectively 33 and 34, extending beyond the edge of the cavity 41 ′, and moreover limiting the rotation of the cam 2 in serving as stops for the angular part 30 which extends the cylindrical body 3 at its internal end, and to which the end of the mixing cam 2 is secured.

Les vis 31 et 32 comportent d'autre part des prolongements 31' et 32' insérées dans la cellule de détection 5, de manière à empêcher sa rotation et à éviter la détérioration du câble électrique 50.The screws 31 and 32 also have extensions 31 'and 32' inserted in the detection cell 5, so as to prevent its rotation and to avoid damage to the electric cable 50.

A lever 6 for controlling the mixing is secured to the cylindrical body 3, by means of a screw 60, this lever comprising a window 61 allowing the passage of radiation 62.

When it is desired to use the mixer 4, the production of water is triggered by the cell 5 when the user wants to operate the lever 6, due to the irruption of his hands in the beam of rays 62. He can then adjust the water temperature as desired by operating the handle 6.

The water flows from the arrivals 47 and 48 to the openings 45 'and 46' made in the blind channels 45 and 46. Then depending on the position of the cam 2, that is to say from the groove 20 relative to these openings 45 'and 46', the desired proportion of hot water and cold water is mixed in the blind axial channel 25 and pours into the peripheral groove 2 through the orifice 23 to lead to the spout 43, until the user's hands are removed from below the spout 43.

If we now refer to FIGS. 3 and 3a, we see in these figures an embodiment of a mixing valve different from that shown in FIG. 2.

In this embodiment, there are essentially the same parts as in FIG. 2, with the difference that the water outlet from the mixing cam 2 takes place at one of its ends by means of an oblique channel 49, an adjustable screw 26 making it possible to limit the rotation of the cam 2.

To this end, the screw 26 is screwed into the body of the tap, and its lower end is arranged in the vicinity of a flat 27 formed on the mixing cam 2: the more this end is close to the flat 27 minus the opening 21 of cam 2 is supplied with hot water.

If we now refer to Figures 4a and 4b, we see in these figures another embodiment of a mixing valve according to the invention, intended to be fixed on a wall support and to be connected to lateral water inlets.

In this embodiment we find the detection cell 5 housed in a cylindrical body 3 inserted in a cavity 41 of the body 40 of the mixer, the cable 50 of the cell 5, the control handle 6 with its window 61, secured to the body cylindrical 3 by means of a screw 60.

The mixing cam 7, secured to the cylindrical body 3, has an inlet groove 71 allowing the mixing of hot water and cold water arriving by two lateral pipes 72, 73 and passing through an orifice 74 formed in said throat.

The cam 7 also comprises a groove 75 provided with orifices 76, 77 for leaving the water, which opens out through a channel 78 in the spout, not shown.

It goes without saying that the present invention cannot be limited to the foregoing description of some of its embodiments, capable of undergoing a certain number of modifications without departing from the scope of the invention. In particular, the embodiments described for sink taps with vertical water inlets can be modified for wall or shower taps with lateral water inlets.
