Description

The invention relates to electrical connection devices of the type comprising a multi-contact plug intended to engage with the corresponding contacts of a base.

It is known, in particular from French patent 1448070 and its addition No. 90457 filed in the name of the same holder, to make such a device in such a way that with a single model of base and plug, always connected according to the same plan of connection, it is impossible to associate two non-connectable elements due to the nature of the currents corresponding to each of them. That is to say that with such a device, if a plug penetrates into a base, it is because the base can supply it with the current which it uses and conversely if a plug cannot penetrate into a base. is that the latter cannot supply the necessary current.

As in the aforementioned patent, the invention relates mainly but not exclusively to the case of a base with four contacts or poles distributed over a circumference and, possibly, an earth contact placed in the center.

Each of the two elements, plug and base, is constituted by a casing and an insulating contact support mounted in an adjustable manner in relative orientation with respect to said casing while the casings of the two elements carry combined means of guidance and locking by rotation arranged so that the junction of these elements can only be carried out in a single relative angular position.

The differentiation of the bases supplied in different ways (for example: three-phase 500 volts, three-phase 380 volts, single-phase 110 volts, single-phase 24 volts, etc.) and the corresponding plugs is carried out by assigning to each nominal current a determined relative angular position of the contact support in its housing. When the number of these different relative positions is sufficient (of the order of twenty), that is to say at least equal to the number of industrial currents normally used, it is possible to fix once and for all the position corresponding to a determined current and thereby establish a normalization system valid for the whole of industry.

In addition, a safety disc of insulating material is pivotally mounted on the base so as to be able to be driven in rotation by the plug, coaxially with the circumference of the contacts, when said plug is locked on said base. This safety disc is provided with openings intended to be crossed by the contacts of the plug, distributed over a circumference superimposed on that of the contacts and arranged in such a way that at the end of the locking rotation only certain contact locations are discovered. , means being provided so that this safety disk is locked, during the disjunction of the plug and the base, in an initial position in which all the contacts are hidden.

In known devices, the safety disc is locked in the initial chosen position by engaging at least one spout carried by a safety washer surrounding the contact support with one of a plurality of notches distributed around the periphery of the disc, the washer being urged towards the disc by an elastic means and immobilized in rotation by guide means. The washer is pushed back by the plug when the latter is inserted on the base, which enables the safety disc to be unlocked. According to patent FR 2212655 in the name of the same holder, the notch which corresponds to the correct initial position according to the desired nominal current can advantageously be uncorked only during the initial assembly.

Such an embodiment has certain drawbacks which arise from the fact that the safety disk has a double function: to hide all the contact locations in the initial position, and to discover predetermined contact locations in the final connection position.

This is why the French patent 2270696 always in the name of the same applicant, and then shows all the characteristics of the preamble of claim 1, recommends to dissociate the two functions by means of a second disc, called complementary, in insulating material, which is pivotally mounted on the base coaxially with the safety disc and which is arranged so as to be rotated at the same time as the latter between the initial position and the final connection position, said complementary disc being provided with openings of equal number to that of the contact locations on the base and distributed in the same way that the latter, while the relative angular position of the base and the complementary disc is such that said openings come opposite said contact locations in the final position.

Thus, the complementary disc is intended to mask all of the contact locations in the initial position while the safety disc retains its function of selecting the contact locations to be discovered in the final position.

The complementary disc comprises in this known system two diametrically opposite notches and the safety disc a plurality of cavities distributed around its periphery.

The initial position of the two discs is ensured by two projecting spouts on a safety washer, which has already been discussed above in connection with the single disc embodiment, said spouts being intended to engage both through the notches of the complementary disc and into two of the cavities of the safety disc.

It is understood that the initial position of the complementary disc is always the same, while that of the safety disc is chosen at the time of mounting, depending on the desired nominal current.

However, it is also clear that this initial position of the discs relative to the base is immutable and therefore corresponds to only one current, while it is also known only by the initial editor.

This is all the more annoying as the installer generally tests its connections, and for this it acts on the washer by any appropriate means as a plug, to unlock the discs and to discover the contacts by rotating them. In this way, during the resetting maneuver, the risk of choosing another cavity for the safety disc, thereby modifying the relative position of the two discs, is not zero.

This is why the inventors have devised a means of being able to modify, by a special maneuver, the initial position of the safety disk by indicating at the same time, without risk of error, the nature of the current allocated to the connection device.

Thus, the invention provides a device of the type mentioned above, inter alia provided with a safety disc, an additional disc and a position locking system. initial disc, which disappears when the plug is inserted into the base, this device being particularly remarkable in that the locking system acts only on the complementary disc while blocking means are provided between the complementary disc and the safety disc so that the latter can be locked in several predetermined angular positions relative to the complementary disc in such a way that an initial position can be assigned to the safety disc at will by acting on said locking means.

Advantageously, at least part of the blocking means is visible on the upper face of the safety disk so that this visible part, as a function of its position on the disk, makes it possible to know the nature of the current assigned to the device, since said current depends on the initial position of the safety disk.

This double function of the blocking means is quite interesting, because not only it becomes possible to modify at will the allocation of the device, but the affected current is also immediately identifiable.

Preferably, the locking means comprise a lug mounted in a fixed angular position in the complementary disc, and urged by elastic means towards the safety disc to come to cooperate with lights made on the latter, so as to be able to block the two discs between them according to several identifiable relative angular positions, while said lug can be erased at will by acting on it against its elastic means, in order to modify the initial relative position of the safety disc relative to the complementary disc and therefore relative to the base.

According to a first embodiment, the contact support of the base comprises a housing intended to receive a part of said lug when the latter is erased from the light of the safety disc in which it is located, when it is desired to modify the position relative discs.

According to another embodiment, the lug is entirely arranged in the complementary disc in which it can retract. Advantageously in this case, the lug is disposed at the end of a lever forming a spring.

The safety disc has for example the form of a cover provided with a peripheral rim turned towards the base and which covers the complementary disc while the lights for the lug are in the form of openings.

On the contrary, according to another embodiment, it is the complementary disc which is provided with a peripheral rim turned opposite the base and in which is housed the safety disc while the lights for the lug are are in the form of notches formed at the periphery of said safety disc.

In particular to allow the installer to test the contacts as it was said above, and according to one embodiment, the complementary disc and the contact support of the base are provided with combined means to ensure a relative pivoting amplitude of relative to each other, limited between the respective initial and final positions of connection of the plug in the base, this pivoting amplitude corresponding consequently to the angle of rotation provided for locking and unlocking in rotation of the casings of said plug and said base.

Thus, after unlocking the discs, it is possible to train them to discover the contacts before returning to the initial position, the rotations in one direction and in the other being limited by said combined means.

These limiting means comprise for example a projection provided on the complementary disc or respectively the contact support of the base intended to cooperate with a corresponding recess, in arc length, at the desired amplitude and which is formed on the support. base contacts or the complementary disc respectively.

In addition and incidentally but advantageously for a device whose safety and complementary discs each have a central opening intended for the passage of the earth contact plug, the central opening of the safety disc is extended by a tubular element which passes through the central opening of the complementary disc to snap inside the insulating support and hold the discs.

It is clear that the drawings show two embodiments which proceed from the same invention, the locking means which cause some modifications of the discs being based on the same principle. It is also possible to mix certain elements from one embodiment to another. In fact, the differences are mainly due to technical manufacturing problems due to different dimensions depending on the nature of the powers involved.

For the sake of clarity, the identical or almost identical elements are referred to by the same numbers, while the neighboring elements and of the same function differ from one embodiment to the other by a "premium".

The connection device according to the invention is composed of a fixed base 1 which can be seen in all the figures and a movable plug 2 (Figures 5, 11 and 12).

The plug includes an outer casing 7 (partly seen in FIGS. 5, 6, 11 and 12) containing an insulating support, in which electrical contacts are mounted, and a central earth contact (not shown). When the plug is moved away from the base 1, a cover (not shown) can be folded over the latter and locked in the closed position by a lock 8 (Figures 1, 2, 4, 5, 7, 8, 10 and 11) , itself held by a spring 9 (Figures 2, 5, 8 and 11).

The four contacts of the base are arranged in a standard way and the locations of the contacts of the plug are combined with the contacts of the base, but only the contacts corresponding to the current necessary for the circuit to be supplied are fitted.

The insulating support 4 of the base and the insulating support of the plug can generally take several relative positions relative to their respective casing.

We thus associate a determined relative position with a current determined by its nature and its effective voltage, for example 380 volts AC, 220 volts AC, 110 volts DC, 48 volts AC, 24 volts DC, etc.

The plug casing 7 can only be introduced axially into the casing 3 of the base in a well-defined angular position, thanks to the presence, for example, of a lug, not shown, secured to one of the two casings, fitted out with so that the complete insertion of the plug into the base is done in three stages, namely: firstly, by introducing the plug into the base in an axial translational movement, secondly, by a rotation relative of the two housings of a certain angle which brings the plug contacts opposite the base contacts, and finally, a third time of effective engagement of the contacts consisting of a second axial thrust of the plug in the base. This arrangement is obtained for example by a bayonet mount of any suitable conventional type.

Sur le support isolant 4 du socle, sont montés pivotants un disque de sécurité 10 (figures 1 à 6), 10′ (figures 7 à 12) et un disque complémentaire 11 (figures 1 à 6), 11′ (figures 7 à 12).On the insulating support 4 of the base, are pivotally mounted a safety disc 10 (figures 1 to 6), 10 ′ (figures 7 to 12) and a complementary disc 11 (figures 1 to 6), 11 ′ (figures 7 to 12 ).

The safety disc 10 has substantially the shape of a cover provided with a rim 13 (FIGS. 2, 3, 5 and 6) turned towards the base and which covers the complementary disc 11 while it is the complementary disc 11 ′ Which is on the contrary provided with a peripheral rim 14 (FIGS. 8, 9, 11 and 12) turned away from the base and in which is housed the safety disc 10 ′.

The complementary disc 11, 11 ′ is provided with a central aperture 15, 15 ′ (Figures 2, 5, 8, 9, 11 and 12) and four apertures such as 16 and 16 ′ (Figures 6 and 11 respectively) distributed exactly like the contacts on the base and on a circumference of the same radius as the distribution circumference of the latter. The safety disk 10, 10 ′ comprises, in known manner, a central aperture 17, 17 ′ and a plurality of apertures (18a-18d; 18′a-18′d) situated on a circumference equal to the distribution circumference of the contacts. Two of these, 18c, 18d and 18′c, 18′d, are oblong lights for the reasons mentioned in the aforementioned certificate of addition.

In the embodiment of Figures 1 to 6, the discs 10 and 11 are held against the support 4 by the head of the central earth contact 6 which serves, at the same time, to pivot said discs.

Selon la variante du mode de réalisation des figures 7 à 12, l'ajour central 17′ du disque de sécurité 10′ se prolonge par un élément tubulaire 12 (figure 8, 9, 11 et 12) destiné à venir s'encliqueter à l'intérieur du support isolant 4 pour maintenir l'ensemble des disques 10′ et 11′ après avoir traversé l'ajour central 15′ du disque complémentaire 11′.According to the variant of the embodiment of FIGS. 7 to 12, the central aperture 17 ′ of the safety disc 10 ′ is extended by a tubular element 12 (FIG. 8, 9, 11 and 12) intended to snap into place. inside the insulating support 4 to hold all of the discs 10 ′ and 11 ′ after having crossed the central aperture 15 ′ of the complementary disc 11 ′.

In addition, as shown in the drawings, the safety disk 10, 10 ′ may have an annular protuberance around its central opening 17, 17 ′ which is housed in a corresponding recess in the complementary disc 11, 11 ′. Furthermore, according to the embodiment of FIGS. 1 to 6, an annular protuberance is also provided in the complementary disc 11 ′, which is received in a corresponding recess in the support 4.

The discs 10, 11 and respectively 10 ′, 11 ′ are rotated by the plug when the plug is locked on the base.

It is understood that the complementary disc 11, 11 ′ is intended to hide all of the base contacts when it is in its initial position.

C'est l'extrémité redressée à angle droit de la languette qui constitue par exemple le bec de verrouillage 19.The ejection washer 20 is immobilized in rotation only, relative to the support 4 of the base, for example by the engagement of at least one tongue directed axially inwards in a longitudinal groove 21 (Figures 2, 5, 9 and 12) arranged on the lateral surface of said support 4. It is the straightened end at a right angle to the tongue which constitutes, for example, the locking spout 19.

La rondelle 20 est sollicitée vers le disque 10, 10′ par exemple par un ressort 23 entourant le corps du support 4.The washer 20 is biased towards the disc 10, 10 ′ for example by a spring 23 surrounding the body of the support 4.

The locking spout 19 is intended to engage in a notch 24, 24 ′ (Figures 2 and 9) formed in the complementary disc 11, 11 ′.

In order to lock the discs 10, 11 and respectively 10 ′, 11 ′ according to various relative positions, a lug 25 (Figures 1, 2, 4 and 5), 25 ′ (Figures 7, 8 and 10) is mounted in a fixed angular position in the complementary disc 11, 11 ′, and it is urged towards the safety disc by elastic means which will be discussed below, to cooperate with lights 26a-26f and respectively 26′a-26′f formed on this last.

Given the slightly different structures of the discs 10, 11 on the one hand and 10 ′, 11 ′ on the other hand, the lights 26a to 26f of the disc 10 are openwork while the lights 26′a to 26′f of the 10 ′ disc is in the form of notches (10 ′ pivoting disc in disc 11 ′).

In addition, the lug 25 of the first embodiment is in the form of a piston urged by a spring 27 while the complementary disc 11 is pierced under said lug and that the support 4 comprises a housing 28 (FIG. 2) intended to receive a part of said lug when the latter is erased from the opening of the safety disc in which it is located.

In a slightly different manner, the lug 25 ′ of the other embodiment is entirely arranged in the complementary disc 11 ′ in which it can retract as shown more particularly in FIG. 8. In this embodiment the lug 25 ′ is arranged at the end of a lever 29 (FIG. 8) forming a spring.

However, it is clear that if the first embodiment shown is more particularly intended for higher powers, certain characteristics of one embodiment can easily be used in the other.

For example, the lug 25 of the first embodiment can replace the lug 25 ′ of the second embodiment with or without the retraction housing 28 and vice versa, etc.

Thus, it is understood that the disc 11, 11 ′ and therefore the lug 25, 25 ′ occupy, relative to the base, an unchanging initial position determined during mounting, while the safety disc can occupy various initial angular positions since first of all suffice to erase the pin 25, 25 ′ of the light 26a to 26f or 26′a to 26′f which it occupies (by pressure using a tool or the like), its other end coming in the housing 28 of the support 4 in the case of the first embodiment, or completely retracting in the disc 11 ′ in the second embodiment, then turning the disc 10, 10 ′ to allow said lug 25, 25 ′, to come and engage in another light.

The lights 26a to 26f and respectively 26′a to 26′f therefore correspond to the various desired currents and their angular positions are of course chosen accordingly.

Par ailleurs, l'ergot 25, 25′ étant visible sur la face supérieure du disque 10, 10′ (une couleur vive pouvant en outre être adoptée), la nature du courant correspondant à la lumière utilisée est mentionnée au voisinage de celle-ci (voir par exemple sur les figures 1, 4, 7 et 10 les indications 1, 2, 3, 1+N, 2+N, 3+N, DC).Furthermore, the pin 25, 25 ′ being visible on the upper face of the disc 10, 10 ′ (a bright color which can also be adopted), the nature of the current corresponding to the light used is mentioned in the vicinity thereof. (see for example in the figures 1, 4, 7 and 10 indications 1, 2, 3, 1 + N, 2 + N, 3 + N, DC).

From a given position (Figures 1, 2, 3 on the one hand, and 7, 8, 9 on the other hand), the safety disc 10, 10 ′ being locked in the position for example 3 + N, by the lug 25, 25 ′, while the washer 20 locks the disc 11, 11 ′ by its beak 19, the plug is pressed first into the base so that the front end of the casing 7 of the plug (Figures 5, 6, 11, 12) pushes the washer 20 against the resort 23. In this way, the spout 19 is released from the notch 24, 24 ′ (Figures 2 and 5 and respectively 9 and 12 ). The plug is then rotated so that the disks 10, 11 and respectively 10 ′, 11 ′ driven by cooperation of the contacts of the plug and the openings of the disks, release the desired contacts from the base.

This translation and rotation with unlocking, corresponds to the passage of Figures 1, 2, 3 to Figures 4, 5, 6 and respectively of Figures 7, 8, 9 to Figures 10, 11 and 12.

Furthermore, as shown more particularly in Figures 1, 4, 7 and 10, to ensure a limitation of the amplitude of relative pivoting of the discs 10, 11; 10 ′, 11 ′ and of the support 4, a projection 30 is provided under the disc 11, 11 ′ (or respectively on the support 4) which is intended to cooperate with a corresponding recess 31, in arc length, the desired amplitude and which is provided on the support 4 (or respectively under the disc 11, 11 ′). The amplitude of pivoting thus tolerated between the initial and final positions of connection respectively corresponds consequently to the angle of rotation provided for locking and unlocking in rotation of the housings of the plug and of the base.

Claims (11)

  1. Selective device for electrical connection comprising a base (1) and a plug (2) with multiple contacts designed to be engaged with the corresponding contacts (5, 6) of the base (1), each of the two elements plug and base being constituted by a casing (7, 3) and an insulating support (4) for contacts, the casings (7, 3) of the two elements bearing interacting means for guidance and for locking by rotation, disposed so that their junction can only be effected in a single relative angular position, while a safety disc (10, 10′) and a complementary disc (11, 11′) of insulating material are mounted pivoting on the base coaxial with the circumference of the contacts, the discs being provided with openings (15, 16, 17, 18a-18d; 15′, 16′, 17′, 18′a-18′d) designed for passage by the contacts of the plug, and being disposed so as to be entrained in rotation by the plug, when the latter is locked on the base, from a given initial position of the discs so that only certain contact locations are exposed at the end of rotation, this initial position of the safety disc and of the complementary disc being locked by a locking system (19, 20, 23) which retracts when the plug is introduced into the base, characterised in that the locking system (19, 20, 23) only acts on the complementary disc (11, 11′) while immobilising means (25, 25′) are provided between the complementary disc (11, 11′) and the safety disc (10, 10′) so that the latter can be immobilised in a plurality of pre-determined angular positions relative to the complementary disc (11, 11′) so that the safety disc (10, 10′) can be given an initial position at will by acting on said immobilising means (25, 25′).
  2. Device according to claim 1, characterised in that at least one part of the immobilising means is visible on the upper face of the safety disc (10, 10′) so that this visible part, as a function of its position on the disc, indicates the nature of the current for which the device is set up since said current depends on the initial position of the safety disc.
  3. Device according to one of claims 1 and 2, characterised in that the immobilising means comprise a detent (25, 25′) mounted in a fixed angular position in the complementary disc (11, 11′) and drawn by elastic means (27, 29) towards the safety disc (10, 10′) in order to cooperate with holes (26a-26f and 26′a-26′f) formed in the latter so as to be able to immobilise the two discs in relation to one another in a plurality of identifiable relative angular positions, while said detent (25, 25′) may be retracted at will by acting on it against its elastic means, in order to modify the relative initial position of the safety disc in relation to the complementary disc and hence in relation to the base.
