Definitions
- the invention relates to a method for a liquid jet printing device for franking and stamping machines which generates characters and graphic characters and symbols on recording media by ejecting drops from nozzles, the nozzles being held in a guide plate.
- Liquid jet printing devices of this type are known.
- the nozzles for ejecting drops of a writing liquid in the direction of a recording medium are arranged in a plate parallel or at an angle to one another and at right angles to the recording medium (DE-33 41 399 A1, DE-30 40 530 A1).
- the discharge of liquid drops is controlled by means of piezoelectric or thermal transducers.
- the write head with the plate of the nozzles which are parallel or at an angle to one another is periodically deflected transversely to the direction of ejection of the liquid drops and this deflection is synchronized with the ejection.
- ink channels incorporated into plastic bodies are also used (DE-34 05 062 A1).
- the print heads must be guided exactly parallel over the record carrier.
- the invention was based on the object of a method for liquid jet printing devices for franking purposes create that contains a small number of drop ejection devices and ensures high resolution.
- An advantage of the invention is the fixed arrangement of the drop ejection devices relative to the moving recording medium, which therefore does not require any additional mechanical guiding devices.
- the liquid jet printing device is composed, for example, of a plurality of nozzles 10. 15 arranged side by side in a line. These nozzles 10..15 are mounted in a guide plate 30.
- the record carrier 40 e.g. an envelope to be franked is moved in a plane parallel to the guide plate 30 and at an angle to the nozzles 10..15, as the arrow in FIG. 2 indicates.
- the nozzles 10. In order to be able to record a larger area of the recording medium 40 with each individual nozzle, the nozzles 10. According to the invention, this is done by exciting surface waves on the guide plate 30. Such a surface wave causes the guide plate 30 to oscillate, as a result of which the nozzles firmly held in them assume the various positions relative to the recording medium 40.
- the generation of standing waves is also suitable for this. 1 shows, for example, the deformation of the guide plate 30 that occurs during a period T of a surface wave and the positions of the nozzle 11 that result from this. This practically achieves a periodic change in the direction of ejection, and a larger portion of the recording medium 40 of painted over each nozzle.
- the time of the drop ejection within the period T determines the direction of the drop flight and thus the position of the application point on the recording medium.
- a multiple triggering of the nozzles during the different positions within a period T is possible. The number of such triggers depends on the frequency of the surface wave and on criteria of the drop size, the viscosity of the liquid and the diameter and the deflection range of the nozzles, which are not detailed here.
- the range of action of the individual nozzles must be coordinated with one another so that on the one hand no overlaps can occur when droplets are ejected and on the other hand each position on the recording medium can be reached by an ink jet within the limits of the printing width.
- the amplitudes of the surface waves are selected at a predetermined distance between the nozzles so that the subregions of adjacent nozzles adjoin one another without overlapping.
- the achievable resolution of the typeface or character image to be generated depends on the advance of the recording medium 40 and on the frequency of the surface wave.
- the time t in which a particular nozzle takes up the same printing position again corresponds to half the period 1/2 T of the surface wave.
- the record carrier travels a certain distance. This must be less than or equal to the desired resolution in the direction of the movement of the recording medium.
- the frequency of the surface wave is dependent on construction and material parameters and can only be varied within narrow limits. The resolution is therefore dependent on the advance of the recording medium and thus on the printing speed.
- a feedback of the phase position of the surface wave at a specific point in time to a specific location of the guide plate can take place in a suitable form by one or more sensors, for example acceleration sensors, which are firmly connected to the surface of the guide plate.
Abstract
Description
The invention relates to a method for a liquid jet printing device for franking and stamping machines which generates characters and graphic characters and symbols on recording media by ejecting drops from nozzles, the nozzles being held in a guide plate.
Liquid jet printing devices of this type are known. For example, the nozzles for ejecting drops of a writing liquid in the direction of a recording medium are arranged in a plate parallel or at an angle to one another and at right angles to the recording medium (DE-33 41 399 A1, DE-30 40 530 A1). The discharge of liquid drops is controlled by means of piezoelectric or thermal transducers. In order to achieve a high resolution, in such arrangements the write head with the plate of the nozzles which are parallel or at an angle to one another is periodically deflected transversely to the direction of ejection of the liquid drops and this deflection is synchronized with the ejection.
Anstelle von Düsen werden auch in Kunststoffkörper eingearbeitete Tintenkanäle verwendet (DE-34 05 062 A1).Instead of nozzles, ink channels incorporated into plastic bodies are also used (DE-34 05 062 A1).
Other solutions provide a ceramic body with etched ink channels with narrowed outlet openings to achieve a higher pressure point density (DE-38 05 279 A1).
An exact adjustment in relation to the record carrier is necessary for a uniform typeface in all of these arrangements, which requires a relatively high outlay in production and maintenance.
In addition, the print heads must be guided exactly parallel over the record carrier. For this purpose, it is known to guide the recording medium over a roller and through perforations on the edge.
When using such liquid jet printing devices for recording media of different widths and thicknesses, such as envelopes, which can also only be carried out on one side along a guide rail under the printing device, static, fixed writing heads are more suitable. The problem that arises here is that a large number of nozzles are required in order to achieve a high resolution of the typeface.
The invention was based on the object of a method for liquid jet printing devices for franking purposes create that contains a small number of drop ejection devices and ensures high resolution.
This object is achieved by the invention as set out in the characterizing part of the first claim.
Die Unteransprüche beschreiben weitere vorteilhafte Maßnahmen. The subclaims describe further advantageous measures.
An advantage of the invention is the fixed arrangement of the drop ejection devices relative to the moving recording medium, which therefore does not require any additional mechanical guiding devices.

The liquid jet printing device according to the invention is composed, for example, of a plurality of
In order to be able to record a larger area of the
The range of action of the individual nozzles must be coordinated with one another so that on the one hand no overlaps can occur when droplets are ejected and on the other hand each position on the recording medium can be reached by an ink jet within the limits of the printing width. For this purpose, the amplitudes of the surface waves are selected at a predetermined distance between the nozzles so that the subregions of adjacent nozzles adjoin one another without overlapping.
The achievable resolution of the typeface or character image to be generated depends on the advance of the
