Abstract

The invention relates to a method of folding a shirt, especially a men's shirt, for packing purposes, using a reinforcing layer (26) of cardboard or the like, the yokes (10, 11) of the shirt being turned over along mutually parallel fold lines (8, 9) onto the back of the shirt and the sleeves (3, 4) of the shirt being laid on the turned-over yokes, and the turned-over yokes then being attached to each other by means of a pushed-on clip (15) in the region of a lip (12) formed between them, whereupon a section (18) of the shirt which is remote from the collar (5), together with the turn-overs formed, is laid on the turned-over yokes along a fold line (19) extending transversely to the longitudinal extension of the shirt, and a push-in end (20) adjoining the section (18) is turned around the edges of the yokes and pushed between the yokes and the back of the shirt. In order to ensure that shirts made from soft shirting materials can also be packed for handling and transport with sufficient dimensional stability, a reinforcing layer (26) is buttoned onto the externally situated button tape (21) of the turned-over section (18), the outline of this reinforcing layer corresponding to the outline of the section (18). <IMAGE>

Description

The invention relates to a method for laying a shirt, in particular a men's shirt, with the features from the preamble of patent claim 1.

In a known method of this type (GB-A-20 95 204) the front of the shirt is placed on a laying table and smoothed or smoothed. A reinforcing cardboard is placed on the back of the shirt, which has a cut that essentially corresponds to the shape of the folded or packaged shirt. A stiffening strip is attached to the reinforcement cardboard, which is first pushed under the collar of the shirt. Then the fits are folded around mutually parallel fold lines that are defined by the long sides of the reinforcement layer. The sleeves are placed over the folded-over fits, with one or both cuffs of the sleeves placed so that the cuffs are outside of the fold. Then the folded-over passages are fastened to one another in the area of the beak formed between them with a clip that has been pushed on. A lower section of the fuselage part with the envelopes lying thereon is folded over around the short side of the reinforcement layer in such a way that an insertion end remains which is wrapped around the upper edges of the passages and inserted between the folded passages and the back of the shirt. The folded section is attached to the layers below with two needles. The needles can be arranged so that they also fasten the sleeves as far as their cuffs are outside of the fold.

After the shirt has been turned, the cuffs or the cuff are folded over onto the front of the shirt and secured with a clip inserted into the cuff slot. The method described so far has proven itself. If, however, shirts made of very soft shirt fabrics are placed in a packaging unit in this way, a lack of dimensional stability can often be found, which can also lead to the shirt being collapsed during manipulation or transport.

The object of the invention is to carry out the method in such a way that even shirts made of soft shirt materials are adequately dimensionally stable for manipulation and transport.

This object is achieved in that the reinforcement layer has an insertion end, which is inserted between the back of the shirt and the insertion end of the folded section, so that those parts that are particularly prone to falling apart are additionally held, especially with soft shirt fabrics.

In particularly critical cases, the insertion end with the reinforcement layer can have a plan such that its long sides define the fold lines for the fits and its short side define the fold line for the folded section, the insertion end of the reinforcement layer before the fits turn over onto the back of the shirt is placed.

The shirt shown in Fig. 1 and visible from its back consists in its basic structure of a body part 1 with yoke 2 and adjoining sleeves 3, 4, and collar 5. The shirt is spread in the manner shown on a laying table, the Front of the shirt facing the laying table. Lateral sections 10, 11 of the yoke 2 and the body part 1 are folded over along parallel fold lines 8, 9 on the back of the shirt so that the two sections 10, 11 of the yoke 2 lie one on top of the other to form a beak 12. The sleeves are placed so that the sleeve 3 extends substantially in the longitudinal direction of the folded shirt, while the sleeve 4, which forms the top of the fold, is placed so that its cuff 16 is is outside the fold and its cuff seam 17 extends essentially parallel to the fold line 9. In an embodiment not shown, the sleeve 3 can also be placed in the same way. In the area of the beak 12, a clamp 15 is pushed over the two upper edges 13, 14 of the superimposed fitting sections, which holds the two fitting sections together (FIG. 2).

Then a lower section 18 of the fuselage part with the envelopes lying thereon is folded over about a fold line 19 such that an insertion end 20 of the folded section 18 extends beyond the collar 5 (FIG. 3). Now the front lies on top of the fold and a button strip 21 is visible.

Then, in addition to the folding lines 8, 9, two needles 22, 23 are inserted from above through the folded-over section 18 and envelopes located below, in order to fasten the section 18 to the layers underneath. The needle 23 is arranged so that it is attached to the sleeve 4, the cuff 16 of which lies next to the folded package. Possibly. the needle 22 is also used in the same way for fastening the other cuff.

Then the insertion end 20 of the folded section 18 is wrapped around the upper edges 13, 14 of the folded-over fitting sections and inserted into the opening formed between the folded-over fitting sections and the back of the shirt in the area of the beak 12 (FIG. 4). A reinforcing layer 26, the outline of which roughly corresponds to the outline of the folded-over section 18 and which has a molded insertion end 27, is first with its insertion end 27 into the opening formed in the area of the beak 12 between the insertion end 20 of the folded section 18 and the back of the shirt and then placed on the folded section and buttoned on the buttons 28 of the button strip 21 present there. For this purpose, the reinforcing layer 26, which can be made of cardboard or the like, has slots or cross slots for the buttons 28 at corresponding locations (FIG. 6).

The shirt is now turned over (FIG. 5) and the cuff 16 or both cuffs are turned over onto the front of the shirt and secured with a clip 25 inserted into the cuff slot 24. The clip 25 is inserted into the cuff slot 24 in such a way that one end engages over the front of the shirt and the other end under the adjoining sleeves and thus under the folded-over section 11.
