Description

The invention relates to a surge arrester for electrical systems, consisting of a housing part and a plug-in element, the plug-in element being equipped with an actuator, a defect indicator and with contacts to which corresponding mating contact elements are assigned, with overvoltage protection elements, such as varistors, being arranged between these contact tongues are.

Such a surge arrester is known for example from DE-PS 36 39 533. In this arrangement, the surge arrester consists of an approximately U-shaped lower housing part with contact tongues on the legs of the lower part, and an approximately cuboid housing upper part with contact rails or knives which can be inserted into the contact tongues and emerge on the narrow sides, the surge protection elements, e.g., between the latter Varistors, are arranged and possibly in the upper part of a defect display. There are slot guides for receiving the contact rails on the inner sides of the legs of the lower part provided so that the upper housing part can be inserted into the lower part from above. In addition, a diaphragm is provided which completely covers the end faces of the legs, from which only the part of the upper part of the housing which projects beyond the lower part of the housing projects, the defect indicator being arranged in the region of this end face of the upper part of the housing. Such an arrangement of a surge arrester has the advantage of a compact and relatively smooth-surface construction and also good electrical safety, since it is impossible to touch the live parts, for example when replacing a defective upper housing part. A disadvantage of the known embodiment of a surge arrester is that the state of the surge protection element visible on the defect display can only be read from this surge arrester itself.

The invention is therefore based on the object to provide the known surge arrester while maintaining the previous advantages, in particular the compact design, with an additional defect indicator that can be used if necessary.

This object is achieved in accordance with the invention in that the surge arrester has an optional interruption chamber for remote display of the defect or a blind module. In this way, it becomes possible for the first time with simple means to make the state of the overvoltage protection element located in the exchangeable upper part of the housing or plug-in element visible both on the surge arrester itself and also on a remote display, while maintaining the previously usual compact design. Because both for the additional module that can be used in the accommodation space if required as well as for the dummy module, no additional space is required; rather, these components are fully integrated in the surge arrester.

In the preferred embodiment of the invention, the accommodation space is integrated in the housing part of the surge arrester. This ensures that the additional or dummy module is easily accommodated in the surge arrester while maintaining the compact design, which enables the plug-in element to be removed without removing e.g. to be able to replace the additional module.

It is advisable to have the housing part have an approximately U-shaped shape and the plug-in element which is operatively connected to it has an approximately square shape. The defect indicator is preferably arranged on the top of the insert element.

It is expedient to equip the insertion element on the underside opposite the defect indicator with two contact tongues, so that when a defective insertion element is replaced, there is no need to remove the cover plate, since the contact tongues arranged on the underside do not protrude laterally.

According to a further proposal of the invention, the insertion element has an unmistakable feature, preferably in the form of guide grooves of different widths located on its side walls, as a result of which it is secured against incorrect insertion.

It is advisable to arrange holding devices on the underside of the housing part for the purpose of interacting with a guide rail.

It is expedient that the mating contact elements interacting with the contact tongues on the underside of the plug-in elements are designed as end sections of contact elements which are guided through the housing part and are arranged in the central region of the housing part. In this way, the contact tongues of the interchangeable plug-in element can interact as easily as possible with corresponding counter-contacts located in the housing part and can be connected to the electrical power connections via these.

In a preferred embodiment of the invention, the additional module has a switching device which interacts with the actuator of the plug-in element. The additional module expediently has a through opening and an actuating element which is operatively connected to the switching device, and in the adjacent area the plug-in element likewise has a through opening for the wedge-shaped end of the actuator. In this way, a simple transfer of a possibly occurring change in state, that is, a defect, to the overvoltage protection element located in the plug-in element is realized via the switching device arranged in the additional module on a remote display.

It is also expedient that the actuator is rotatably mounted about a pin and is connected at its upper end to the defect indicator via a pin so that the defect that occurs can be displayed simultaneously with the remote indicator on the surge arrester itself via the defect indicator .

Surge arresters are also known from the prior art, which in connection with a defect indicating Actuator are equipped with a securing tape, the varistor located in the plug-in element being connected to the securing tape. Another object of the invention is to improve such an embodiment in such a way that, with an increase in the flexibility of the securing tape, protection against large overvoltages (such as lightning) and protection against recurring, small overvoltages is ensured. To solve this problem, the surge arrester equipped with a securing strap is designed in such a way that the securing strap is designed to be flexible, S-shaped, is connected to the varistor in the plug-in element via a eutectic soldering point and also has an additional predetermined breaking point. This flexible, S-shaped folded and not as previously flat design of the securing band ensures that, due to the increased flexibility of this securing band achieved by shape and material properties, the actuator can always perform a movement indicating the defect. Furthermore, such a configuration creates two trigger elements in series, so that both in the case of high-energy overvoltages, e.g. near lightning strikes, by destroying the predetermined breaking point in the securing band, and also in the event of repeated small overvoltages, since in this case the constantly increasing leakage current of the varistor, the eutectic soldering point melts at a predetermined maximum temperature, the varistor is disconnected from the mains and the defect state is reported.

It is advisable to have the actuator have a bolt in the area of its wedge-shaped end, which is connected to the securing band in the area of the predetermined breaking point, so that the actuator is permanently connected to the securing band as long as the predetermined breaking point has not been destroyed.

It is also expedient to have the blind module, which can be inserted into the accommodation space as required, have a passage opening, so that even when the blind module is inserted, the possibility of displaying a defective overvoltage protection element in the plug-in element is retained via the defect indicator.

The surge arrester for electrical systems, in particular low-voltage systems, which can be seen from FIG. 1 and is only one example of an embodiment of the invention, is generally designated 10 and essentially consists of an approximately U-shaped housing part 11, an approximately square plug-in element 12 and one on one The housing part 13 provided on the side of the housing part 11, into which an additional module 14 for remote indication of a defect can be introduced if necessary and which is also designed to accommodate a blind module which cannot be seen in FIG. 1. The U-shaped housing part 11 is provided on its underside 15 with various holding devices 16, 17 and 18 so that the surge arrester 10 can be operatively connected to a guide rail, not shown in the figures of the drawings. The approximately square insertion element 12 has a defect indicator 20 on its upper side 19 and is equipped on the opposite lower side 21 with two contact tongues 22 and 23 tapering in the direction of insertion. Furthermore, on the side of the insertion element 12 facing the accommodation space 13 of the housing part 11, the underside 21 of which is arranged adjacent to the underside 21 of an end 24 protruding from this insertion element 12 of an actuator not shown in FIG. 1.

The additional module 14 shown in FIG. 1 has a substantially rectangular shape and has a support shoulder 25 lying on its rear side, which in the assembled state of the surge arrester 10 with a corresponding one in the area of the accommodation space 13 of the The housing part 11 provided counter-support shoulder 26 cooperates. In addition, a guide web 27 is provided on the underside of the additional module 14 for the purpose of insertion into a corresponding recess 43 located on the housing part 11.

Die Fig. 2 der Zeichnung zeigt nun den detaillierten Aufbau des erfindungsgemäßen, komplett zusammengesetzten Überspannungsableiters 10:2 of the drawing shows the detailed structure of the completely assembled surge arrester 10 according to the invention:

The U-shaped housing part 11 provided with the various holding devices 16, 17, 18 each has a passage opening 30, 31 in the region of its side surfaces 28, 29 for connection to the electrical power connections. In the area of these passage openings 30, 31 there are contact elements 34, 35 on each side of the housing part 11 in receptacles 31, 33 which are provided for this purpose and which, in the embodiment shown in FIG. cooperate with the connecting cables in these receptacles 32, 33. The contact elements 34, 35 are guided in the manner shown in FIG. 2 through various through openings through the housing part 11, in such a way that their end sections 36, 37, which are bent at right angles, are fixed in receptacles 38, 39 which are located directly below the central area 4o of the housing part 11 provided for receiving the insertion element 12. In this way, the contact tongues 22, 23 of the plug-in element 12 can be brought into operative connection with the end sections 36, 37 of the contact elements 34, 35 via passage openings 41, 42 located in the central region 40 of the housing part 11, which in turn are laterally offset from one another . The contact element 35 is in the area of the holding devices 16 and 17 via unspecified Fastening means with an earth-side connecting element 69 in operative connection.

The accommodation space 13 for an additional module 14, which is already visible on the housing part 11 and next to the central area 4o from FIG. 1, has a guide groove in its area adjacent to the side surface 29, into which a corresponding groove on the additional module 14 or on a Blind module molded guide bar can intervene, ie that is, the additional module 14 can be inserted into the housing part 11 from above, wherein in the end position the underside guide web 27 engages this additional module 14 in a recess 43 located in the accommodation space 13 of the housing 11. The support shoulder 25 located on the rear side of the additional module 14 then lies on the corresponding counter support shoulder 26 of the housing part 11.

The plug-in element 12, which interacts with the central region 40 of the housing part 11 and which cooperates in its upper region with a cover plate 44, is equipped in its interior with a commercially available varistor 45, which is therefore only shown schematically in the figures of the drawing. Has carbide powder disk 83 and two terminal contact tabs 46, 47 are provided at the end regions thereof. These terminal contact lugs 46, 47 interact in the manner to be described below, in particular from FIG. 6, with the contact elements 22 and 23 of the plug-in element 12. The varistor 45, as can also be seen from FIG. 3, is covered by an insulating plate 48, on whose side facing away from the varistor 45 a pin 49 is arranged for receiving the already mentioned actuator 5o, the lower end 24 of which is wedge-shaped towards the outside and in the position shown in Fig. 1 protrudes through a through opening 51 of the insertion element 12. The actuator 5o is thus rotatably mounted about the pin 49 and, at its upper end 52, cooperates with a pin 54 integrally formed on the defect indicator 2o via an elongated recess 53, ie the defect indicator 2o can be adjusted via the upper end 52 of the actuator 5o . The defect indicator 2o is provided in its externally visible side with different color markings and also interacts via the pin 54 with a tension spring 55, which is supported by a web 56 located on the insulating plate 48 and whose end opposite the defect indicator 2o with one the insulating plate 48 integrally formed further pin 57 cooperates.

The additional module 14 which can be inserted into the accommodation space 13 of the housing part 11 has a switching device 77 in its interior, with a plastic element 58 which is fastened by means of bolts 59 and 60. An electrical contact 61 and 62 is embedded in this plastic element 58 on each side, between which a spring contact bracket 63 extends, also embedded in the plastic element 58. At its lower end, this cooperates with an over-center spring 64, which cooperates with a wedge-shaped plastic element 65 in the area adjacent to the passage opening 51 of the insertion element 12. This plastic element 65 interacts via a passage opening 66 with the end 24 of the actuator 5o protruding from the insert element 12, that is to say that when this plastic element 65 is acted upon by the actuator 5o, which is set in a rotational movement via a change in state in the insert element 12, via the over-center spring 64 Spring contact bracket 63 from a first contact position with the contact 62 to a second contact position is transferred with the contact 61, so that the change in state which has been carried out in the plug-in element 12 and is visible on the defect display 20 can also be made visible on a remote display. The contacts 61 and 62 and the spring contact bracket 63 are also on the side facing away from the dead center spring 64 via connection devices 67 provided in the area above the support shoulder 25 in the additional module 14, which can also be seen in FIG. 5 of the drawing, with the current-carrying leads connected, which can be inserted into the receptacles 68 provided for this purpose on the additional module 14 and can be fixed there with fastening means (not specified).

Die Kontaktzungen 22,23 sind ihrerseits, siehe auch Fig. 2, über in den Figuren der Zeichnung nicht näher bezeichnete, an der Rückwand des Einsteckelementes 12 befindliche Stifte in diesen befestigt und wirken in der in Fig. 3 angezeigten Weise mit den im mittleren Bereich 4o des Gehäuseteiles 11 befindlichen, klemmbackenartig ausgebildeten Gegenkontaktelementen 75,76 zusammen.3 and 6 of the drawing it can now be seen how the individual connection lugs 46, 47 of the varistor 45 located in the plug-in element 12 are in operative connection with the contact tongues 22, 23. These terminal contact lugs 46, 47 have an approximately L-shaped shape in their end sections 84, 85, and extend with these end sections 84, 85 to the bottom 86 of the plug-in element 12. The connection contact tab 46 is now, as can be seen from FIG. 6, connected via a eutectic soldering point 79 to a flexible securing tape 78, which has an approximately S-shaped shape and is adjacent to the end 24 of the actuator 5o in the area of the bottom 86 of the insert element 12 is arranged. This securing band 78 has a predetermined breaking point 80 and acts in the area of this predetermined breaking point 80 with the wedge-shaped end 24 of the actuator 5o via a bolt 81. In addition, the opposite end of the securing band 78 is in electrical contact with the end of the contact tongue 22, which is also approximately L-shaped in cross section, located within the insertion element 12. In contrast, the other terminal contact lug 47 acts directly with the corresponding end of the other contact tongue 23 together. The contact tongues 22, 23 are in turn, see also FIG. 2, fastened in the latter via pins not shown in the figures of the drawing and located on the rear wall of the insertion element 12 and act in the manner shown in FIG. 3 with those in the central region 4o of the housing part 11 located, jaw-like counter contact elements 75, 76 together.

Aus diesen beiden Figuren, sowie auch insbesondere aus Fig. 6 ist außerdem ersichtlich, daß das Einsteckelement 12 ein Unverwechselbarkeitsmerkmal in Form von an seinen Seitenwänden 71,72 befindlichen, unterschiedlich breiten Führungsnuten 73,74 aufweist.4 and 5, the two possible embodiments of the surge arrester 1o according to the invention are shown, namely once from FIG. 4 with the dummy module 7o inserted in the accommodation space 13, which on the side facing the plug-in element 12 in the area of the passage opening 51 for the Wedge-shaped end 24 of the actuator 5o has a passage opening 82 so that a defect of the overvoltage protection element on the defect indicator 2o can be made visible even when the dummy module 70 is inserted, and secondly from FIG. 5 with the additional module 14 inserted into the interruption space 13. From these two Figures, and also in particular from FIG. 6, it can also be seen that the insertion element 12 has an unmistakable feature in the form of guide grooves 73, 74 of different widths located on its side walls 71, 72.

If a malfunction occurs in the operation of the electrical system to be protected with this surge arrester 10, which causes a defect in the overvoltage protection element, this defect can be made visible via the defect display 2o when the dummy module 70 is inserted and via the defect display 2o and a remote display when the additional module 14 is inserted will. The special design of the varistor 45 and the actuator 5o makes an operative connection standing security band 78 or by the way these elements are connected to one another, that protection is ensured both in the case of high-energy overvoltages, such as near lightning strikes, as well as in the case of repeated, smaller overvoltages, since in one case the predetermined breaking point is destroyed and in in the other case, the eutectic soldering point melts, which then triggers the display of a defect using the means described. The defective overvoltage protection element can then be replaced by an exchange of the plug-in element 12 without having to remove the cover plate 44 covering several surge arresters.

Figure imgb0002
As already mentioned, the illustrated embodiments are only examples of implementations of the invention, which is not restricted to this. Rather, there are still many changes and training options. For example, the additional module could be fixed in the surge arrester in a different way than shown in the figures of the drawing, and a different configuration of the housing part receiving the plug-in element is also conceivable.
