Abstract

A guide tube (7) is arranged on the buffer cylinder (6) at the rear end of an automatic firearm (1). A retaining ring (12) is slipped non-rotatably, but axially displaceably onto this guide tube (7). In a front operating position represented by unbroken lines, the retaining ring (12) prevents the trigger lever (2) from being pressed down and consequently any firing of a shot. In a rear operating position of the retaining ring (12), as represented by dot-and-dash lines, the trigger lever (2) can be freely actuated. The safety device is of simple construction and simple to operate and it can easily be attached to existing firearms. <IMAGE>

Description

The present invention relates to a trigger safety device on a firearm, in particular a heavy machine gun, with a pivotable trigger lever and a rotatable fire selection guide tube. A weapon of this type is, for example, the MG 64 caliber 12.7 mm of the Swiss Army type M2 (HB, QCB) .50cal MG or US-A-2 050 539. This weapon has a trigger and one on the back between two handles Muzzle release. Single shots can be fired by actuating the trigger, while fire can be fired while the trigger and the trigger joint trigger are actuated at the same time. A guide tube with a hold-down spring is rotatably mounted on a buffer cylinder protruding backwards from the fume cupboard. By rotating this guide tube, its hold-down spring can be pivoted over the catch release and this can thus be held continuously in the series firing position. The trigger can be operated freely for any position of the guide tube or the hold-down spring attached to it. It is therefore not possible to secure the device, which sometimes leads to the unintentional firing of individual shots or even series of shots if the trigger is actuated accidentally.

In a similar weapon according to US-A-1 803 349 with a buffer cylinder, but without a rotatable guide tube, a safety bolt which can be moved transversely into a securing position and out of the same into a firing position is provided in the trigger box, which locks the pivotable trigger lever in its securing position.

The aim of the present invention is to provide a trigger protection for weapons of the first type mentioned, which can also be easily attached to existing weapons. This goal is achieved in that a locking part which is axially adjustable between a firing position and a securing position is provided on the guide tube and is located in its securing position in the pivoting path of the trigger lever. This makes it possible to secure the weapon and to avoid any unwanted firing.

Further details and advantages of the trigger safeguard according to the invention result from the following description of an embodiment.
Fig. 1

Fig. 2
shows a rear view of the weapon and the trigger protection,
Fig. 3
shows a longitudinal section through the trigger protection according to line III-III in Fig. 4 and
Fig. 4

Bei jeder Betätigung des Abzughebels wird somit automatisch Seriefeuer geschossen.FIGS. 1 and 2 show the rear weapon end with the trigger box 1, in which a fork-shaped trigger lever 2 and a catch trigger 3 with actuating plate 3a are arranged so as to be pivotable about a common axis 4. Parts 2 and 3 are arranged between two handles 5. While holding the weapon by the handles, the trigger 2 and the catch release 3 can be pivoted independently of one another from an upper rest position shown in FIGS. 1 and 2. If only the trigger 2 is pivoted down, a single shot is fired with each pivoting movement. If the catch trigger 3 is also pivoted downwards, series fire can be fired as long as the trigger 2 is depressed. A fire selection guide tube 7 is rotatably mounted on the buffer cylinder 6 projecting backwards from the trigger box 1, and a hold-down spring 8 is riveted to the front end thereof. Through a radial bore of the guide tube 7, a positioning cam 10, which is loaded by a spring 9 riveted to the guide tube, engages in a positioning groove 11 which extends about 180 ° along the circumference of the buffer cylinder 6. When the positioning cam 10 in the shown in the figures Position, the free end of the hold-down spring 8 is below, ie diametrically opposite the trigger lever 2 and the catch release 3. The guide sleeve 7 with the hold-down spring 8 can, however, be rotated counterclockwise by approximately 180 ° from the position shown, with the hold-down spring 8 in the area of the catch joint trigger 3 can be pivoted. When the catch joint trigger is depressed, the hold-down spring 8 can be pivoted over the intermediate part 3b of the catch joint trigger and the catch joint trigger can thus be held in its lower series firing position. Each time the trigger is actuated, series fire is automatically fired.

The construction parts described above correspond to those of the existing machine gun mentioned above. It follows from the previous description that no safeguards were provided, ie actuation of the trigger 2 and / or the catch joint trigger 3 can also occur unintentionally at any time, which can lead to the unintentional firing of the shot. In order to counter this danger, security is now provided according to the invention. For this purpose, a locking ring 12 is placed on the guide sleeve 7, which has flat millings 12a on two sides. In the position of the guide tube 7 shown, the surfaces 12a are perpendicular, that is to say approximately parallel to an axial-vertical plane in which the free end of the hold-down spring 8 also lies. After the above-mentioned rotation of the guide tube 7, the hold-down spring 8 and the non-rotatably connected locking ring 12 by about 180 ° to hold down the catch joint trigger 3, the surfaces 12a are again vertical, that is parallel to the handles 5 such that the locking ring holds the weapon not hindered on the handles 5. As just mentioned, the securing ring 12 is connected non-rotatably to the guide sleeve 7 by means of a wedge 13. The Circlip 12 is, however, axially displaceable on the guide sleeve 7, namely by a path which is limited by a stop screw 14 which engages in a milling 15 of the guide tube 7. The axial end positions of the locking ring 12 are additionally defined by spring-loaded locking balls 16 which can engage in front locking bores 17 or rear locking bores 18. In the drawing, the locking ring 12 is drawn in its front end position, in which it engages in the swivel path of the trigger 2 and thus prevents the same from being depressed to trigger a single shot or series fire. With this position of the locking ring 12, the weapon is thus secured. For safety purposes, the locking ring 12 can be brought back into a final position indicated by dash-dotted lines in FIG. 1 and determined by engaging the locking balls 16 in the locking holes 18, in which it no longer hinders the pivoting of the trigger 2. The weapon can now be operated normally.

The spring-loaded positioning cam 10, which engages in the annular groove 11 of the buffer cylinder 6, serves not only to limit the approximately 180 ° pivoting movement of the guide tube 7 and the circlip 12 placed thereon, but also to secure these parts on the buffer cylinder 6 with the guide tube 7 pulled back with sufficient force, the positioning cam 10 can be disengaged from the groove 11 while overcoming the pressure of the spring 9 and then the retaining ring with the guide tube can be removed from the buffer cylinder. Therefore, the corresponding guide tube 7 of an existing weapon, which is not provided with a locking ring 12, can easily be removed from the buffer cylinder 6 and replaced by the above-described unit with locking ring 12. Existing weapons can therefore be easily retrofitted.
