Abstract
Description
The invention relates to a method and a device for cooling a container filled with liquid.
In many technical fields there is a need to keep liquids of various types in stock. Often these are flammable, volatile or otherwise dangerous substances, where the security of the storage essentially depends on the storage temperature and in particular no strong warming should take place. In order to influence the temperature or to cool storage containers, storage tanks, etc., it is known to equip the containers with internal or external heat exchangers which cool the liquid to be stored while at the same time generating circulation. The disadvantage here is that these cooling systems represent a not inconsiderable structural and financial outlay and also consume energy. In addition, the cooling effect of the known systems is relatively slow, ie a noticeable cooling of the liquid only becomes noticeable for a long time after the cooling has been switched on.
The object of the present invention is therefore to provide a fast-acting cooling system for cooling containers filled with liquid, which also enables structurally simple and inexpensive solutions.
This object is achieved in that when cooling is required, a jet of a liquid cryogenic medium is injected into the liquid to be cooled and the heated, gaseous cryogenic medium then emerging from the liquid to be cooled is discharged from the container. By injecting a liquid cryogenic medium, e.g. Liquid nitrogen or liquid air, due to the fact that these media have very low temperatures in the liquid state and a large latent cold content, a large amount of cold is supplied to the liquids to be cooled. At the same time, a circulation effect and thus a good cold distribution is achieved by injecting the cryogenic medium. Suitable injection pressures are between 1 and 18 bar. In addition, no additional external energy supply with e.g. Electricity is more necessary because the process can be operated with the pressure with which the cryomedia is usually provided anyway.
In a particularly advantageous embodiment, the jet of the injected, liquid cryogenic medium is passed shortly after entering the liquid to be cooled through a Venturi nozzle, that is to say a gradually narrowing and expanding tube. Through the Venturi nozzle in combination with the injected jet of the cryogenic medium particularly good suction, mixing and circulation of the liquid to be cooled with the cryogenic medium is achieved, and thus very efficient, fast-reacting cooling is achieved.
Another, in many cases advantageous embodiment of the method according to the invention is that an inert medium is used as the cryogenic medium to be injected. The result of this is that the storage container is rendered inert at the same time for cooling. Suitable media here are in particular nitrogen, carbon dioxide and noble gases, in particular argon.
The method according to the invention is advantageously carried out in a controlled manner in such a way that the temperature of the liquid to be cooled is continuously measured and the injection of the cryogenic medium is started when the liquid temperature exceeds a specified first value, the injection then until a specified second lower temperature value is maintained. In this way, an automated, variably adjustable embodiment of the method according to the invention is obtained.
A device for carrying out the method according to the invention is characterized in that an inlet nozzle and a Venturi nozzle are arranged such that their two longitudinal axes lie on a straight line, the outlet end of the inlet nozzle being at most a short distance from the inlet end of the Venturi nozzle and the diameter the Venturi nozzle at the narrowest point is slightly larger than that of the inlet nozzle. The advantages of the method according to the invention are achieved with a device designed in this way.
In a particularly advantageous development of the device, the inlet nozzle is designed as a double-walled, vacuum-insulated tube. This prevents the liquid to be cooled from freezing at the inlet nozzle.
The method according to the invention and the associated device are to be explained in more detail by way of example with reference to the schematic drawings.

- Figure 1 scheme for the operation of the cooling process with liquid container and injection device;
- Figure 2 injection device.
If a liquid cryogenic medium, e.g. Liquid nitrogen, introduced through the
The compatibility of the cryogenic medium used with the liquid to be cooled is of fundamental importance when using the method. This requirement must be checked by criteria such as mutual solubility, mutual reactivity, etc. In many cases, however, a variety of cryomedia can be used.
The cooling method according to the invention provides an efficient cooling method with moderate effort.
