Description

Textile fibers that are to be combed are usually fed to a combing machine as wadding in the form of wadding rolls. A cotton tape is produced on a tape winding machine from several stretch tapes and then wound up. Before winding, the cotton is calendered to smooth its surfaces so that the cotton can subsequently be unwound from the winding on the combing machine without any problems.

Known tape winding machines contain two rotatable winding rollers which carry a cotton roll during winding and a roller calender arranged adjacent to one of the winding rollers. An arrangement in which four calender rolls are arranged in a row which is approximately concentric with one of the winding rolls has proven particularly useful. In operation, the calender rolls are pressed against one another with a predetermined force. When pulling in the beginning of a new cotton tape, the force is released, which creates small gaps between the calender rolls.

However, pulling in the beginning of a new cotton band is difficult if, particularly in the case of an arrangement with four calender rolls, the cotton band is passed around the underside of one of the calender rolls facing the winding roll and then out again through the gap between this calender roll and the next calender roll got to. The undersides of the winding rollers facing the winding roller are inaccessible and normally cannot even be seen.

It is known to arrange a guide plate under the calender roll, around the underside of which the cotton tape has to be guided. The guide plate should be the beginning of a cotton tape around the bottom of the Guide the calender roll around in the gap between this calender roll and the next calender roll while slowly turning the calender rolls. However, the device with the guide plate does not work reliably. In particular, if the guide plate is dirty, it can easily clog between the guide plate and the calender roller.

The invention therefore has set itself the goal of providing a method with which the difficulties described can be avoided and the beginning of a cotton tape easily and safely around the inaccessible underside of one calender roll and through the gap between this calender roll and the next Calender roll can be passed.

The method according to the invention for drawing in a cotton tape between calender rolls on a tape winding machine, with which the specified aim is achieved, is characterized in that a plate, of which at least one front section is curved in a bowl shape around an axis, with a front edge in the gap between two adjacent ones of the calender rolls are inserted and moved around one of the two rolls into the gap between this and a third of the calender rolls and that an initial section of the cotton tape is placed on a flexible sheet and / or cloth sheet material attached to a rear edge of the plate and then the plate and the sheet are moved on until the sheet has passed through the second gap.

The invention also relates to an auxiliary device for carrying out the method according to the invention, which auxiliary device is characterized by a plate, of which at least one front section is curved in a shell-like manner around an axis, and a flexible sheet made of film and / or cloth attached to an edge of the plate .

In diesen zeigen:

Embodiments of the invention are explained below with reference to the drawings. In these show:
  • 1 is a schematic vertical section through parts of a tape winding machine,
  • Fig. 2 on a larger scale a perspective view of an auxiliary device which is used for pulling a cotton tape between the calender rolls shown in Fig. 1, and
  • Fig. 3 to 5, the calender rolls shown in Fig. 1 each during different stages of pulling a cotton tape.

Fig. 1 shows a cotton roll 1, which rests on two rotatable winding rollers 2 and 3. A cotton tape 4 shown with a broken line runs through a roller calender before it runs to the cotton roll 1 and is wound thereon. The calender consists of four calender rolls 5, 6, 7 and 8, which are arranged adjacent to the winding roll 2 in a row approximately concentric to this. In operation, the calender rolls 5, 6, 7 and 8 are pressed against one another by a means, not shown, with a predetermined force.

For the pulling in of the beginning of a new cotton tape 4 between the calender rolls, the pressing force is released and the calender rolls 5, 6, 7 and 8 are slightly separated from each other, so that a small gap of, for example, about 3 mm width is created between two adjacent calender rolls. It can be seen that it is then relatively easy to insert the beginning of the new cotton band from above between the rollers 5 and 6 between the rollers 7 and 8, while the rollers are allowed to rotate slowly. However, it is very difficult to ensure that the beginning of the cotton tape passes between the rollers 6 and 7 from below without any aids.

In order to always achieve the latter in a simple and safe and trouble-free manner, the method according to the invention the auxiliary device shown in Fig. 2 used. This consists of a plate 11 with a front edge 12 and a rear edge 13 and a flexible sheet 14 fastened to the plate 11 at the rear edge 13 and made of film and / or cloth.

The plate 11 has a front section 15, which is curved in the shape of a shell around an axis A, and a rear section 16, which is less curved or preferably approximately flat. The radius of curvature R of the front section 15 is approximately the same as or slightly larger than the radius of the calender rolls, in particular the calender roll 6. The front section 15 extends, viewed from the axis A, over a winding α (in one to the axis A vertical plane measured) of more than 180 °, e.g. 190 to 230 °, preferably about 210 °. The length d of the rear section 16 is approximately 20 to 70% of the radius of curvature R. However, the rear section 16 could also be omitted, that is to say have a length of zero. The plate 11 can suitably consist of plastic, e.g. made of polyvinyl chloride with a thickness of about 1 to 2.5 mm.

The flexible sheet 14 consists of a film, e.g. Plastic film, and / or cloth. The fabric 14 is, for example, a fabric that is coated on the underside with a plastic film and on the top is covered with projecting, inclined fine bristles or fibers or hooks, which are directed towards the edge 13 of the plate 11. Sheets of this type are known as textile brush covers.

The use of the auxiliary device described for pulling in the start S of a new cotton tape 4 between the calender rolls 5, 6, 7, 8 is explained below with reference to FIGS. 3 to 5.

First, while the calender rolls are not pressed against each other and between them there are the small gaps already mentioned, the Plate 11 with the leading edge 12 first inserted manually from above between the rollers 5 and 6 and moved around the roller 6 until the leading edge 12 between the rollers 6 and 7 comes up again, as shown in FIG. 3. The plate 11 is somewhat elastic, but in any case sufficiently stiff to ensure that the front edge 12 of the plate 11 inserted between the rollers 5 and 6 always reaches the gap between the rollers 6 and 7. Then, as also shown in FIG. 3, the fabric 14 fastened to the rear edge of the plate 11 is placed over the roller 5, and an initial section of the new cotton tape 4 is placed on the fabric.

Then the calender rolls 5, 6, 7, 8 are pressed against each other and slowly rotated. As a result, the plate 11 is pulled upwards in the nip between the rollers 6 and 7 until it reaches the position shown in FIG. 4. The approximately flat rear section 16 (FIG. 2) of the plate 11 has the effect that the front section of the plate lifts somewhat from the roller 6 and does not re-enter the nip between the rollers 5 and 6. The flat structure 14 fastened to the rear edge of the plate 11 and the initial section of the new cotton tape 4 adhering to it extend in the position according to FIG. 4 around the underside of the roller 6.

The calender rollers 5, 6, 7, 8 are then rotated further until the plate 11 is pushed out completely from the nip between the rollers 6 and 7 and also the sheet 14 with the initial section of the new cotton tape 4 has left this nip, as shown in Fig. 5. If the initial section of the cotton tape 4 detaches from the fabric 14 and falls onto the roller 6, then this does not bother.

The auxiliary device is now removed and the initial section of the cotton tape 4 is placed over the roller 7 and inserted between the rollers 7 and 8. The calender rolls are no longer pressed against each other, so that there is again a small gap between the rolls 7 and 8. The cotton tape 4 emerging downward from the gap between the rollers 7 and 8 then runs onto the circumference of the winding roller 2 (FIG. 1) and is taken by it to the cotton roll 1.
