Abstract
Description
The invention relates to an indicator for the retrieval of skiers buried by avalanches with the aid of a search and rescue system that works with transmitters and receivers.
Skiing has become a popular sport with an increasing tendency. Existing ski areas are often very large. They are expanding due to the increase in skiing. Completely new ski areas are still being developed.
The risk of skiers becoming victims of avalanche accidents is therefore increasing, especially as skiers are more willing to take risks. Specified slopes are often left to enjoy deep snow skiing. There is often an increased avalanche risk in such areas. Finding skiers who have had an accident quickly is therefore a requirement that is becoming increasingly urgent and that is also in the interests of the operators of the ski areas. The previously known technical aids have not been able to meet this requirement satisfactorily especially not from the point of view of the fact that skiing has become a comprehensive popular sport.
The object of the present invention is therefore to create an indicator of the type mentioned at the outset, which ensures that buried skiers can be found quickly and with a high level of safety. In addition, the aim of the invention is to make it easy for every skier to take advantage of a search and rescue system.
Search and rescue systems working with transmitters and receivers are known per se. These usually include a direction finder and search device located at a search team or rescue organization, which is equipped with a transmitter and a receiver. The energy supply of this device is not problematic, since it can either be powered by the network or is only used in the course of rescue operations. The batteries in the device can be replaced before each use.
There is one for each person at risk Indicator that contains a receiver tuned to the frequency of the search transmitter and a transmitter. In the event of an emergency, signals are transmitted using the search device. If such a signal is received by the receiver of the indicator, it switches on the indicator transmitter. The signals from the transmitter are received by the receiver of the search device. These signals can be used to locate the casualties.
There is a fundamental problem with regard to the energy supply of the indicators (cf. CH-PS 514 897 and DE-OS 25 45 066) since these have to be equipped with their own power supply, for example a battery, in order to achieve sufficient transmission ranges (active operation of the indicator). Constantly switching on the indicator leads to rapid battery drain so that the indicator can no longer perform its function. If the indicator can be switched on and off manually, there is a risk that the switch-on will be forgotten. In order to solve these problems, it has been proposed to accommodate expensive batteries in the sole of the ski boot (cf. DE-PSen 25 25 444, 24 37 981 and complicated battery charging systems in the area of people at risk of staying to be provided (DE-PS 31 09 283). Such systems cannot be used for mass skiing because of their complexity and their high costs. Therefore, they have not been able to assert themselves on the market. Passively operated indicators, ie indicators without their own energy source, are known (cf. DE-PS 23 52 807 and DE-OSen 24 37 464, 32 11 381); however, these are unsuitable for the retrieval of skiers buried by avalanches, since the transmitters of such indicators have very short ranges.
In order to solve the problem presented, it is proposed that the indicator located at the skier is actively designed and that it forms a unit together with a ski pass.
Ski passes are issued at lift ticket sales points and entitle a skier to use the lift systems of a ski area. Their period of validity is limited, usually to the time of a skiing holiday, for example one or two weeks.
Combining the indicator with a ski pass to form a unit thus offers the possibility of equipping every skier in a ski area to whom a ski pass is issued with an indicator at the same time. High requirements for maintaining the charge of the batteries no longer have to be set because they are only required for the duration of the ski pass. Specifying the period of validity on the ski pass makes it possible to monitor the age of the battery in the combination of indicator and ski pass, so that there is no risk of using old and therefore weak batteries.
The particular advantage of the invention is that the proposed combination of an indicator with a ski pass solves the problem of how a large number of skiers can be equipped with an indicator so that each of the skiers can benefit from an existing search and rescue system . It can be left to him, for example, to buy a ski pass with or without an indicator. At a time when there is an increased risk of avalanches, there is the advantageous possibility of only selling ski passes with an indicator, so that the operator of a Ski resort is better able to assume its responsibility for the safety of skiers.

- 2a and 2b show a schematic partial section through the object according to FIG. 1 in the region of the battery.
Another possibility is to attach a lanyard to the unit consisting of
The
The unit shown in FIG. 1 is assembled, for example, in the lift ticket office after the ski pass has been provided with a photograph, expiry date and code strip. A three-sided is expedient closed plastic cover used, in which the
According to the invention, the
Before welding the
After the receiver 4 has been switched on, a functional test is expediently carried out, which can relate to the battery charge and to the switching on and off of the emergency transmitter via the indicator receiver. The latter happens through the action of the search frequency on the indicator receiver in order to determine the transmission capability of the indicator transmitter. Such a function test must be carried out in an encapsulated device so that nearby indicator receivers and transmitters are not activated.
The capacity of the
