Abstract

A circuit element for the fitment of an elongated measuring conductor has a switch and a resistor which are mounted in a plastic housing. Connecting tabs 25 and 27 are provided for electrical connection, and are accessible for connection in pairs, geometrically corresponding to one another, on two mutually opposite outer sides of the plastic housing, so that the circuit elements can be connected to a measuring conductor in a uniform manner in a row by soldering connecting tabs which are then opposite to one another. The connecting tabs extend in a common contact plane 19 which, for its part, extends closely along the cover side 29 of the plastic housing 4. <IMAGE>

Description

The invention relates to a circuit element for equipping an elongated measuring conductor, preferably for a level transmitter, with an elongated cuboid plastic housing made of electrically insulating material, with an elongated electrical switch that can be actuated magnetically and whose contacts are inserted in a closed tube filled with protective gas, with a Elongated electrical resistor, in which the switch and resistor are arranged axially parallel to their longitudinal axis and to the longitudinal axis of the plastic housing next to one another within the plastic housing, and with connecting leads stamped from sheet metal for the switch and the resistor, which emerge from the plastic housing as connecting tongues in a common exit plane. wherein the connecting tongues are formed from a first long outer side of the plastic housing designed as a first connecting side, and from the opposite side as a second connecting side Deten second long outside are accessible for connection, and wherein the connecting tongues with at least one section each extend flat in a common for all connecting tongues contact plane, which in turn extends plane-parallel to the switching element level defined by switch and resistor.

In the case of measuring conductors of the type in question here, similar circuit elements are lined up and interconnected to form a potentiometer circuit. A permanent magnet that can be arranged in a float, for example, is then moved along this row and, depending on the position of the permanent magnet, two or three adjacent switches open or open, and the potentiometer resistor changes its size accordingly and offers Measure of who Position of the permanent magnet, assigned distance. The measuring accuracy is greater, the more circuit elements are accommodated on the unit length of the measuring conductor. In the measuring conductor, the connecting tongues of adjacent circuit elements come into contact in the contact plane and are electrically conductively connected to one another in the contact plane.

In a circuit element of this type known from DE-GM 8715341 (P36 002), the contact plane, which in these circuit elements coincides with the exit plane, extends in the middle, between the top side and the bottom side of the plastic housing.

The object of the invention is to design a circuit element of the type mentioned in such a way that a large number of circuit elements per unit length can be interconnected in the measuring conductor in a simple manner, and that the resulting measuring conductor can be rolled up to a handy diameter in spite of the dense arrangement for storage and simplify transportation.

The invention is characterized in that the contact plane is arranged plane-parallel to the third long outer side designed as the cover side, which distance is less than a quarter of the distance between the cover side and the fourth long outer side designed as the bottom side.

Due to the invention, the connecting tongues for contacting are more easily accessible from the cover side than with a central arrangement. This makes it possible to make the distance between adjacent circuit elements smaller. Due to the arrangement of the connecting tongues near the top side, even with a dense arrangement, the measuring conductor can be deflected better towards the top side than with mitti arrangement of the contact plane.

A further development of the invention, which fulfills the geometric conditions for a light, mechanical, lined-up assembly particularly favorably, is characterized in that the first connecting tongue is assigned to the first connecting side and the first side of the switch, that the second connecting tongue to the first connecting side and the is assigned to the first side of the resistor and the second side of the switch, that the third connecting tongue is assigned to the second connecting side and the first side of the switch and is electrically connected to the first connecting tongue, and that the fourth connecting tongue is connected to the second connecting side and the second side of the Resistance is assigned.

It is advisable to manufacture the connecting lines from non-magnetizable, electrically conductive metal in order to avoid interference with the action of the permanent magnet. The metal from which the connecting lines are made is the same as that from which the connecting tongues are made, and therefore it should be capable of being soldered, welded or electrically conductive, glued. A copper-bronze alloy is preferably suitable for this.

For the same reason as the connecting lines, it is expedient to use only those resistors which are made of non-magnetizable material.

Further preferred refinements of the circuit elements are the subject of the remaining subclaims.

The invention will now be explained in more detail with reference to the accompanying drawing.

In the drawing, 1 denotes an aluminum support tube, which has the shape of an elongated rectangle in cross section. In the support tube 1 there is an elongated, band-shaped measuring conductor 2 made of lined up, cuboid, elongated, circuit elements 4 to 7 of the same size. The structure of the circuit elements is explained in more detail below. Each of these circuit elements has a resistor 10 and a magnetically actuable switch 11. The circuit elements are interconnected according to the equivalent circuit diagram from FIG. 3 and form an electrical resistance potentiometer 12 which is connected to a resistance measuring device 13. Depending on which of the switches 11 is closed, the resistance of the potentiometer, which is measured and displayed in the resistance measuring device 13, changes. In addition to the support pipe 1, a liquid pipe 14 extends, which is communicatively connected to a tank, the liquid level of which is to be monitored. Accordingly, the liquid is up to the level line 15 within the liquid pipe 14 at the same level as in the connected tank.

A float 16, which is equipped with a permanent magnet 17, is freely displaceable longitudinally within the liquid tube 14. The support tube 1 and the liquid tube 14 are made of non-magnetizable material. The magnetic field of the permanent magnet 17 extends to the measuring conductor 2 and always actuates at least one of the switches in each position, so that the resistance value of the potentiometer 12 and thus the display in the resistance measuring device 13 depend on the height of the permanent magnet and thus on the height of the level 15 the liquid is dependent.

In such level meters, it is advantageous if the Cross-section of the measuring conductor is as small as possible so that the measuring device does not become unnecessarily large and thus the magnetic actuation of the switches with low magnetic force is possible.

It consists of a plastic housing 20, which has a rectangular outer contour with two bevels 8, 9, along the top side 29.

Metallic, flat connecting tongues 24, 25, 26, 27 protrude in pairs from the plastic housing 20 on opposite connection sides 22, 23. These connecting tongues extend, also with regard to their areal extension, in a common contact plane 19 which is at a distance 33 from the cover side 29 of the plastic housing facing the viewer and plane-parallel to this. The contact plane 28 coincides with the exit plane in which the connecting tongues emerge from the plastic housing. The distance 33 is less than a quarter of the distance 34 between the top side 29 and the bottom side 32. In the exemplary embodiment, the distance 33 is 15% (percent) of the distance 34. The bevels 8 and 9 extend from the top side 29 to the contact plane 19. The electrical resistance cast in the interior of the plastic housing 20 is designated 30 and the electrical, magnetically actuatable switch 31. These two switching elements define the switching element level 18. The resistor consists of magnetically inactive material.

When comparing the equivalent circuit diagrams 6 and 3 it can be seen that the equivalent circuit diagram 3 arises from the fact that several circuit elements according to FIGS. 4 and 5 are lined up and connected in pairs with their connecting tongues, that is to say the connecting tongues 26 and 27 are connected to the connector tongues of the next circuit element connected, which correspond to the connecting tongues 24 and 25 and so on, see also Figure 8.

To produce the circuit element according to FIGS. 4 and 5, an elongated sheet metal plate 35 made of copper-bronze alloy is used. The connecting lines 70, 71, 72 are punched out of this sheet metal plate, some of which lie within the housing 4 indicated by the dash-dotted line 46, and some protrude as connecting tongues 24 to 27 from the finished housing. In this case, a transverse strip 36, 37 of the sheet metal material remains on both sides, which temporarily connects the later free ends of the connecting tongues to the sheet metal plate 35. Now the parts of the connecting tongues located in the interior of the plastic housing are geometrically adapted, if necessary, by bending the switch 31 and the resistor 30.

Then the switch 31, which is an elongated, electrical switch that can be magnetically actuated and whose contacts 40, 41 are inserted in a closed tube filled with protective gas, is inserted and on one side 42 with the connecting tongues 24, 26, which are inside of the plastic housing are connected to one another, and electrically connected on the other side 43 to the connecting tongue 25, for example by soldering. Accordingly, the elongated resistor 30 is now used and connected on one side 44 to the connecting tongue 25 and on the other side 45 to the end of the connecting tongue 27. In this way, switch 31 and resistor 30 are mechanically held on the connecting tongues and electrically contacted with them. Now the plastic housing is encapsulated in a contour along the dash-dotted line 46, the ends of the connecting tongues lying to the outside and the transverse strips 36, 37 remaining free, that is to say outside of the resulting plastic stay home. Once this has been done, the protruding ends of the transverse strips are punched out and the circuit element is finished as shown in FIGS. 4 and 5.

A number of such circuit elements 4, 47, 48 can now be lined up to form a measuring conductor as shown in FIG. 8, the individual circuit elements being mechanically connected to one another in pairs with their connecting tongues by welding, soldering or gluing and being electrically contacted. The measuring conductor thus has sufficient stability, because the thickness of the sheet metal plate 35 is chosen accordingly. The measuring conductor is constructed in a straight line, but it can be curved, as indicated in FIG. 9. The gaps 39 left between adjacent circuit elements 47, 4, which are bridged by the connecting tongues, are wedge-shaped when the measuring conductor is bent about an axis 49, and the connecting tongues are bent. The axis 49 extends parallel to the connection side 22 and parallel to a connecting line of the connecting tongues 24, 25. In this way, it is possible to thread such a measuring conductor into curved support tubes or to roll it up for transport and storage. For the sake of clarity, FIGS. 8 and 9 show that the distance between the adjacent circuit elements is very large. This distance can be much narrower due to the position of the contact plane close to the cover side. Nevertheless, it is possible to roll up the measuring conductor by a relatively narrow radius with the cover side 29 located towards the center of the curvature. If the housing had a strictly cuboid design, the housing edges would abut each other along the cover side at very close intervals. In such cases, this is prevented by the bevels 8 and 9.

The die cut 50 for a subsequent circuit element is indicated on the right on the board 35. At the mass pro production, many circuit elements are punched out in a row from an elongated circuit board.

In the exemplary embodiment shown in FIG. 10, the circuit board is denoted by 51, the switch by 52, the resistor by 53 and the outline contour for the plastic housing by 54. A total of three connecting tongues 55, 56, 57 protrude from the finished plastic housing. The connecting tongues are temporarily secured by a transverse strip 58. The connecting tongues all emerge from the plastic housing 61 on the same cover side 60 facing the viewer of FIG. 11, and that along a center line which is the intersection line between the exit plane 62 and the cover side 60. The connecting tongues 55, 56, 57 are angled into the plane of the cover side 60, which is also the contact plane. The connecting tongues are accessible from the connecting sides 73 and 74, respectively. The free ends of the connecting tongues 56 and 57 are aligned along the axis 59. The resistor and the connecting lines, which also include the connecting tongues, are made of non-magnetizable material.

According to FIG. 13, a plurality of circuit elements 63 according to FIGS. 11 and 12 are lined up closely to one another, with a common contact plane 64 facing the viewer of FIG Contact and are soldered together. In this position, the end of each connecting tongue 55 is in contact with the connecting tongue 55 of the next circuit element and is soldered to it, as can be seen from FIG. Correspondingly, in this position, the connecting tongue 56 is in contact with the connecting tongue 57 of the next circuit element contact and is soldered to this, as can also be seen in Figure 13. The equivalent circuit diagram shown in FIG. 3 again results with a measuring conductor 65, the circuit elements of which are closely lined up. This measuring conductor 65 can be bent by bending the connecting tongues, as can be seen in FIG. 13, the radius of curvature on the side of the contact plane 64. When bent, wedge-shaped gaps 66 are formed, the tips of which point towards the contact plane or the soldering point.

In the embodiment shown in FIG. 15, the exit plane 91 extends at a distance 94 from the cover side 81 and is plane-parallel to it. The distance 94 is 18% (percent) of the distance 95 between the top side 81 and the opposite bottom side 96. The four connecting tongues 83 to 86 are bent with play along the associated connecting side 87, 88 and angled with play along the edges 89, 90 into the plane of the cover side 81, which also defines the contact plane. If such circuit elements are placed close to one another, the associated adjacent connecting tongues, for example the connecting tongue 83, come into contact with the connecting tongue 92 of the adjacent circuit element 97 and can be soldered, welded or electrically conductively bonded to one another. If you carry out a soldering, such as soldering 93 in the contact plane, you can bend the resulting measuring conductor towards the cover side 81, as shown in FIG. 14. The circuit elements 82, 97 offer the advantage that they are easier to handle mechanically because of the connection tabs which do not protrude freely than in the case of protruding connection tabs. In addition, the circuit elements are lined up close together in the measuring conductor.

The invention is not related to the application cuboid plastic housings limited. Thus, plastic housings can also be used which have modifications of the cuboid shape, for example cuboids with more or less rounded corners, edges or sides, or those shapes in which the cross section is a polygon or round. It is only essential that the shape of the plastic housing fits into a rectangular outline.
