Abstract

A connecting terminal (10) for electrical apparatuses such as lights, ovens, washing machines or the like is shown and described, having an insulating body (11) and conductor connecting contacts arranged therein, at least one of which is a protective conductor contact (16), having an externally-located two-limbed connector (21), which is stamped from a thin, flat sheet and which passes through the wall of the insulating body (11) facing a terminal support (23) for direct contact engagement in an insertion opening (22) of the terminal support (23) and can be connected or is connected via connecting limbs (27, 28) to cut-outs (29, 31) in a positively locking or clamped- fitting manner. In the case of such a connecting terminal, a particularly secure connection of the connector (21) to the terminal support (23) is achieved according to the invention in that both limbs (25, 26) of the connector (21) make transitions into the connecting limbs (27, 28) and the connector (21), with the connecting limbs (27, 28), forms a component which overall has an essentially U-shape, and in that the unobstructed width (33) of the insertion opening (22) in the terminal support (23) is at least slightly smaller than the maximum spacing of the narrow external edges of the limbs (25, 26) of the connector (21) from one another. <IMAGE>

Description

The invention relates to a connection or connecting terminal for electrical devices such as lights, stoves, washing machines or the like. with an insulating body and conductor connection contacts arranged therein, at least one of which is a protective conductor contact, with an external, two-legged plug punched out of a thin, flat sheet metal, which engages through and over the wall of the insulating body facing a terminal carrier for direct contact engagement in an insertion opening of the terminal carrier Connection leg is positively or clampably connected or connected to recesses of the protective conductor contact.

The invention is based on a device terminal approximately corresponding to the type shown in Fig. 4 of DE-OS 36 21 369. There, the two connecting legs are stamped on an approximately bridge-like anchoring section on one side, while the plug part has a web and one over a U-shaped apex zone has adjoining spring legs. The reefing free end of the spring leg adjoining the U apex engages under the terminal support on the back of the terminal. The two connecting legs are immersed in recesses in the protective conductor contact, with particular consideration being given to one of the two connecting legs having one leg of the con to allow the clock spring to work together in a clamped manner. This provides a good and durable connection of the plug to the protective conductor contact, while the spring leg of the plug on the back of the terminal support serves for mechanical support and the electrically conductive contact.

The present invention is based on the object, while maintaining a very simple spatial shape for the plug in a clever manner so that it can perform its tasks even better.

The solution to this problem consists essentially in the fact that both legs of the connector merge into the connecting legs and the connector with the connecting legs forms an overall substantially U-shaped component and that the inside width of the insertion opening in the terminal support is at least slightly smaller than the largest Distance between the narrow outer edges of the legs of the connector.

The main difference from the prior art explained at the outset is that the holding function of the plug on the protective conductor contact is no longer independent of the insertion and clamping function in the terminal support. This is achieved in that both the connecting legs and the legs of the plug are combined into a single U-shaped component. If now the two when inserting the plug into the cutout of the terminal support U-legs are pressed together, this leads to the fact that the connecting legs engaging on the protective conductor contact also contact there, like pliers. The clamping or spreading forces between the plug and the terminal support on the one hand and between the connecting legs and the recesses of the protective conductor contact on the other hand therefore have mutually advantageous feedback. Electrical contact is also improved. While in the prior art the current could only flow away via the web of the plug, both spring legs of the U-shaped plug are now available for this purpose. It is essential that all of this is achieved without additional construction work. The plug is still a simple stamped part.

According to a further embodiment of the subject matter of the invention it is provided that at least one of the two legs has at the free end a nose which engages behind a recess of the protective conductor contact and is directed towards the other leg. The pliers forces applied when the plug is inserted into the cutout of the terminal support can be supported via the nose on the edge of the relevant recess of the protective conductor contact. There is not only an essentially clamped connection, as in the prior art, but an - optionally additional - positive connection. This means that under operational conditions it is practically impossible to tear the plug and terminal from the terminal carrier.

Another feature provides that tabs are released from the sheet metal of the plug and bent out of the sheet metal plane as barb-like latching tongues which are supported under the terminal support. These locking tongues can be connected to the inner edge of the U-web of the connector and can diverge in opposite directions. The latching tongues consequently spring when the plug is inserted in a direction transverse to the main extension plane of the flat plug. In contrast, the pinching and clamping holding forces act on the lateral, outer edges of the U-legs. The retention function is thus decoupled from the other functions of the connector.

The invention thus provides a terminal without additional effort, the grounding plug ensures a better current supply as well as, in two respects, a better mounting of the plug by clever shaping, both on the protective conductor contact and on the terminal carrier.

  • Fig. 1 einen Querschnitt durch eine Anschlußbzw.
  • Fig. 3 eine Seitenansicht zu Fig. 2 und
The invention is best understood from the following description of an embodiment with reference to the drawings. The drawings show:
  • Fig. 1 shows a cross section through a connection or. Connecting terminal in the area of a protective conductor contact,
  • 2 is a very much enlarged view of the grounding plug,
  • Fig. 3 is a side view of Fig. 2 and
  • Fig. 4 shows a section along section line IV-IV of Fig. 3, but with a terminal support.

The connection or connection terminal, designated in its entirety by 10, has a two-part insulating material body 11 made of plastic with a base body 12 and a second component 13 which can be locked with it. Conductor insertion openings, in the present case for the earth connection, are denoted by 14 and 1. The protective conductor contact 16 shown in Fig. 1 rests in a receiving chamber 17 and consists of a two-part clamping body 18, 19 in the embodiment, of which the part 18 is a relatively inherently stiff bracket U-shaped in the broadest sense, while the part as a contact spring with resilient contact legs 19 'and 19˝ is formed. The bracket 18, which consists of good current-conducting copper, serves as a carrier and holder of the contact spring 19. The springs of the legs 19 'and 19' of the contact spring 19 form 18 screwless terminals between their respective end edges and opposite surfaces of the bracket body. The terminal formed by the spring leg 19 'can be opened again at will with the help of the housing-side push button 20 in order to be able to remove the conductor held there if necessary.

Mit 21 ist ein Stecker bezeichnet, der im Innern des Isolierstoffkörpers 11 mit dem Schutzleiterkontakt 16 steckverbindbar ist und dessen aus dem Boden des Isolierstoffkörpers 11 austretender Abschnitt zur Steckverbindung mit einer Einstecköffnung 22 eines insbesondere metallischen Klemmenträgers 23 bestimmt ist.21 with a plug is designated, which can be plug-connected in the interior of the insulating body 11 to the protective conductor contact 16 and whose portion emerging from the bottom of the insulating body 11 is intended for the plug connection with an insertion opening 22 of a particularly metallic terminal support 23.

The plug 21 is designed as a simple metal stamped part with a material thickness of approximately 0.5 mm. Its basic form corresponds essentially to that of a "U". Two U-legs 25 and 26 are connected to a central web 24. The two legs 25 and 26 can spring elastically towards or away from each other in their main plane (drawing plane of FIGS. 1 and 2).

The free ends of the two U-legs 25 and 26 form two connecting legs 27 and 28 for coupling to the protective conductor contact 16.

The connecting leg 27 engages in a recess 29 of the contact spring 19, into which a bent tongue 30 of the earthing bracket 18 is also immersed.

The other connecting leg 28 passes through a gap 31 of the earthing bracket 18, which may be designed as a clamping slot, and has an inwardly directed nose 32. The downward-facing nose edge 32a engages over the edge of the slot 31 and here ensures a form-fitting mounting of the plug 21.

The essentially elongated opening 22 for inserting the plug 21 in the terminal support 23 is shown in FIG. 4. Their clear width 33 is at least somewhat less than the maximum distance between the narrow outer edges of the connector legs 25 and 26. The clear width 33 may essentially, depending on tolerances, the distance of the narrow outer edges of the connector legs 25 and 26 approximately at point XX correspond. If the plug 21 is inserted into the recesses 22, the plug legs 25 and 26 can thus spring towards one another, which at the same time reinforces the contact of the free leg ends in their connection with the grounding clamp 16. On the other hand, a spreading tension there increases the mechanical hold of the connector legs 25, 26 in the terminal carrier insertion opening 22.

On the inner edge of the web 24 of the U-shaped plug body 21, two resilient tabs are connected. They are mutually bent out of the main plane (drawing plane of FIGS. 1 and 2) as alternately diverging barb-like latching tongues 34, 35 and, as can be seen from FIG. 4, reach under the longitudinal edges of the insertion opening 22 in the clamp carrier 23.

It should also be mentioned that the side edges of the legs 25 and 26 are expediently sharp-edged in the region of the outer section of the plug 21 in order to destroy any insulating coating in the reveal of the insertion opening 22 when it is inserted.
