Aus diesem Grunde besteht mehr und mehr die Tendenz zu Stahlmöbeln, welche dem moder­nen Trend zu mehr "High Tech" und zu differenzierter Farbgebung neben den Farbtönen Weiss, Schwarz und Braun, Rechnung getragen wird. Allerdings ist auch die Her­stellung der Stahlmöbel relativ aufwendig, müssen sie doch geschweisst und/oder gelötet werden. Hinzu kommt bei der Fertigung das benötigte grosse Lagervolumen, da nur die ganzen zusammengeschweissten Möbelstücke und nicht Einzelteile aus Stahl auf Lager liegen. Ein weiterer Nachteil besteht in der Lackierung der Möbel­stücke, da das heute mehrheitlich aus wirtschaftlichen Gründen verwendete Pulverbeschichtungsverfahren für grössere Möbelstücke praktisch nicht in Frage kommt. Aus diesem Grunde werden heute nach wie vor grössere Möbelstücke nasslackiert.
