Abstract

The present invention relates to tables of the retractable type. The table according to the invention comprises a frame (1) defining a recessed housing, a plate (3), means (4) for mounting said pivoting plate around an axis (5) integral with said frame (1) and so that said plate can take at least two positions, a first position such that it is completely included in said recessed housing, and a second position such that its plane makes with that of said frame a determined non-zero angle, means ( 10) spring to exert at least one force so as to bring said plate (3) from the first position to the second, controllable means (11) for holding said plate when it is in said first position, and controllable means ( 12) to maintain said plate when it is in said second position. It is essentially characterized by the fact that said spring means (10) comprise at least one pneumatic cylinder (20) comprising at least one cylinder for defining a sealed variable volume chamber, and a rod (22) integral with said piston, said chamber with volume being inflated by a compressible fluid.

Description

  • The present invention relates to tables of the retractable type such as those used in reduced spaces.
  • Modern life often means using as little space as possible, in the interests of profitability and minimizing the cost of maintenance. This is the case, for example, for kitchens, bedrooms, balconies, restaurants, garages, but also clinics, hospitals, caravans, boats and hotels.
  • To meet the two conflicting conditions of lack of space and the need for tables with sufficient surface area, retractable tables have been produced, for example, either of the roll-up type such as a rolling shutter or of tilting. However, none of the achievements made it possible to obtain tables having large surface tops and made of heavy materials such as solid wood, for example oak, or covered with tiles.
  • Also, the object of the present invention is to propose a table of the retractable type which has a large plate and which can pass from a retracted position to an extended position, and vice versa, without requiring great physical efforts, the maneuver being able to be controlled automatically.
  • More specifically, the present invention relates to a table of the retractable type characterized in that it comprises: - a frame defining a recessed housing,
    - a tray,
    - Means for mounting said pivoting plate about an axis integral with said frame and so that said plate can take at least two positions, a first position such that it is completely included in said recessed housing, and a second position such that its plane makes a determined non-zero angle with that of said frame,
    - spring means for exerting at least one force so as to bring said plate from the first position to the second,
    controllable means for maintaining said plate when it is in said first position, and
    - controllable means for maintaining said plate when it is in said second position.
  • Other characteristics and advantages of the present invention will appear during the following description given with reference to the appended drawings, by way of illustration but in no way limitative, in which:
    • - Figures 1 and 2 show, seen from the side and partially in section referenced AA in Figures 3 and 4, an embodiment of the table according to the invention, respectively in the position of the tray extended and in the position of the tray retracted , and
    • - Figures 3 and 4 show, in two front views, the table according to Figures 1 and 2, respectively in the position of the tray extended and in the position of the retracted tray.
  • The four figures representing the same embodiment, the same references designate the same elements there, whatever the figures on which they appear.
  • The Figures represent a table of the retractable type comprising a frame 1 defining a recessed housing. This frame can for example be made of solid wood for the front face and less noble wood for the rear face. On this frame 1 is mounted a plate 3 with means 4 so that said plate can pivot around an axis 5 and take at least two positions: a first position such that it is completely included in said recessed housing, as shown in FIGS. 2 and 4, and a second position such that its plane makes a determined non-zero angle with that of said frame, as shown in FIGS. 1 and 3.
  • The table includes springs 10 for exerting at least one force so as to bring the plate from the first position to the second. It also includes controllable means 11 for holding the plate when it is in the first position, and controllable means for maintaining it when it is in the second position.
  • The means 4 for mounting the plate 3 pivoting about an axis 5 are advantageously constituted by at least two hinges 23, 24 with two hinges, each hinge being respectively fixed on the plate and on the frame 1, so that the axis of rotation is located on the sides 25, 26-27, 28, respectively of the frame and the plate.
  • The spring means 10 comprise at least one pneumatic cylinder 20 comprising at least one cylinder for defining a sealed variable volume chamber, a rod 22 secured to the piston, the variable volume chamber being inflated by a compressible fluid.
  • Advantageously, the table comprises three jacks 20, the two ends 30, 31 - 32, 33 - 34, 35 of which are respectively fixed to the frame 1 and on the plate 3, in planes perpendicular to the axis of rotation 5 of the plate 3 relative to said frame 1. These three jacks 20 are regularly spaced so that two jacks are substantially close to the two ends 41, 42 of the plate 3 and that the third jack is between the other two, substantially in the middle, the two end jacks having their fixing point 31, 33 on the plate 3 at a distance from the axis of rotation 5 smaller than that separating the point 35 of the third cylinder of the axis of rotation 5, while the fixing points 30, 32 of the two end cylinders on the frame 1 are at a greater distance than that separating the fixing point 34 of the third cylinder on the frame 1 relative to the axis of rotation 5.
  • The controllable means 11 for holding the plate when it is in the first position, as shown in FIGS. 2 and 4, comprise a lock 50 with a bolt 51 and a counter bolt 52 secured respectively to the plate 3 and to the frame 1, these two elements being mounted so that, when the plate is in the first position, the bolt of the lock abuts on the latch to prevent rotation of the plate 3 towards the second position, shown in Figures 1 and 3, and means 53 for controlling the bolt of said lock.
  • The table comprises means 54 for controlling the erasure of the latch 52, these means being able to be of any type in particular a counter-screw making it possible to block and unblock the latch by means for example of a screwdriver. These means are necessary when the control means 53 of the bolt 51 are accidentally non-operational either by failure, or when they are of the electronic, optoelectronic, magnetic type, when the energy source is cut off.
  • As mentioned above, the table comprises controllable means 12 for holding the plate 3 when it is in the second position, shown in FIGS. 1 and 3. These means advantageously include an arm 60, a rotation shaft 61 pivotally mounted on the frame 1, this arm 60 being fixedly attached to the shaft 61 so that, when the plate is in the first position, the arm is in a first position between the plate and the frame, and that, when the plate is in the second position, the shaft pivots by driving the arm to bring it into a second position under the plate and prevent it from pivoting to the first position.
  • In addition, the table includes means 62 for holding the arm 60 when it is in the first position, these controllable means being able to be actuated when the plate is in said second position. These holding means 63 of the arm 60 are actuated from a certain time constant after the plate has arrived in its second position. tion, so that the arm 60, when it is rotating, does not scratch, in particular by its end, the underside of the plate 3.
  • The arm 60 comprises at its end, a lug 63 directed towards the bottom of the plate which comprises means 64 for locking-unlocking the lug 63 when the plate 3 and the arm 60 are respectively in their second position, shown in Figures 1 and 3.
  • As mentioned above, the arm 60 is rotated under the effect for example of a torsion spring coupled to the shaft 61. This rotation is therefore relatively rapid. To avoid, in particular, a purple noise and possibly impact on a normal stop, the table comprises an end-of-travel damper 70 to dampen the end of the rotation of the arm 60 when it reaches its second position. This end-of-travel damper can consist, for example, of a swiveling inclined plane subjected to the action of a pressure spring. These means being known in themselves will not be described more fully here.
  • The table described above is used as follows:
  • We assume that the table is in its first position as shown in Figures 2 and 4. When we want to bring the tray in the horizontal position, shown in Figures 1 and 3, we control the bolt 51 which disappears in front against the bolt 52. Under the action of the cylinders 20 which lengthen, the plate pivots about the axis 5 by means of the hinges 4, until it comes to take a position slightly beyond the horizontality. The rotation of the arm 60 is then actuated after a low time constant, under the action of a spring applied to the shaft 61. The end of the rotation of the fat 60 is damped by the damper 70, so that the 'pin 63 comes to be placed opposite the locking-unlocking means 64. A light pressure is then exerted on the plate so that the pin 63 is blocked in the means 64. The plate is thus positioned and can be used in complete safety , without risk of tipping.
  • When we want to replace the tray in the retracted position, we unlock the lug 63 and we exert a slight pull on the tray to release it from the locking means 64. We then return the arm 60 to its original position by a push , for example manual, until the lug 63 comes to cooperate with the holding means 62 in the housing 2. The plate is then returned to its first position by manual pressure exerted against the force cylinders, until the bolt 51 comes to lock against the latch 52.
  • As mentioned previously, the bolt 51 can be triggered in different ways, for example electrically by pressing the button 53. When the automatic trigger does not work for different reasons, it is possible, however, to obtain the exit from the plate, by means of the control 54 which allows the counter-bolt 52 to be retracted.
  • It can therefore be seen that with such a retractable table, it is possible to use trays of large dimensions, in any material, even those having a significant weight, without the users having particular efforts to provide, while offering these realizations a certain esthetics allowing them to take place on any place.

Claims (13)

1. Table of the retractable type comprising: - a frame (1) defining a recessed housing,
- a tray (3),
- Means (4) for mounting said pivoting plate about an axis (5) integral with said frame (1) and so that said plate can take at least two positions, a first position such that it is completely included in said recessed housing, and a second position such that its plane forms with that of said frame a determined non-zero angle,
- spring means (10) for exerting at least one force so as to bring said plate (3) from the first position to the second,
- controllable means (11) for holding said plate when it is in said first position, and
- controllable means (12) for holding said plate when it is in said second position, CHARACTERIZED BY THE FACT THAT said spring means (10) comprise at least one pneumatic cylinder (20) comprising at least one cylinder to define a chamber sealed variable volume, and a rod (22) integral with said piston, said variable volume chamber being inflated by a compressible fluid.

Table according to claim 1, CHARACTERIZED BY THE FACT THAT it comprises three jacks (20) whose two ends (30, 31 - 32, 33 - 34, 35) are respectively fixed on the frame (1) and on said plate (3), in planes respectively perpendicular to said axis of rotation (5) of the plate (3) relative to said frame (1).

Table according to claim 2, CHARACTERIZED BY THE FACT THAT said three jacks (20) are regularly spaced so that two jacks are substantially close to the two ends (41, 42) of said plate (3) and that the third jack is between the other two, substantially in the middle, the two said end cylinders having their fixing point (31, 33) on said plate (3) at a distance from said axis of rotation (5) smaller than that separating the point of fixing (35) of said third cylinder of said axis of rotation (5), while the fixing points (30, 32) of the two said end cylinders on said frame (1) are at a greater distance than that separating the point fixing (34) of said third cylinder on said frame (1) relative to said rotation (5).

Table according to one of claims 1 to 3, CHARACTERIZED BY THE FACT THAT said controllable means (11) for holding said plate when it is in said first position comprises a lock (5) with a bolt (51) and against bolt (52) respectively secured to said plate (3) and said frame (1), these two said elements being mounted so that, when said plate is in the first position, the bolt of the lock abuts on said counter bolt to prevent rotation of said plate (3) towards said second position, and means (53) for controlling said bolt of said lock.
5. Table according to claim 4, CHARACTERIZED BY THE FACT THAT it comprises means (54) for controlling the erasure of said counter bolt (52).
6. Table according to claim 5, CHARACTERIZED BY THE FACT THAT said control means of said latch (52) are of mechanical type.
7. Table according to one of claims 4 and 5, CHARACTERIZED BY THE FACT THAT said control means (53) of said bolt (51) of said lock (50) are chosen from one of the following types, mechanical, electronic, optoelectronics, magnetic.

Table according to one of claims 1 to 7, CHARACTERIZED BY THE FACT THAT said controllable means (12) for holding said plate (3) when it is in said second position comprises an arm (60), a rotation shaft ( 61) pivotally mounted on said frame (1), said arm (60) being fixedly attached to said shaft (61) so that, when said plate is in said first position, said arm is in a first position between said plate and said frame, and that, when said plate is in said second position, said shaft pivots by driving said arm to bring it into a second position under said plate and prevent it from pivoting towards the first position.
9. Table according to claim 8, CHARACTERIZED BY THE FACT THAT it comprises triggerable controllable holding means (62) for holding said arm (60) when it is in said first position, said controllable means being able to be actuated when said tray is in said second position.
10. Table according to claim 9, CHARACTERIZED BY THE FACT THAT said means for holding said arm (60) are actuated from a certain time constant after the plate has arrived in said second position.
11. Table according to one of claims 8 to 10, CHARACTERIZED BY THE FACT THAT said arm (60) comprises a lug (63) directed towards the bottom of said plate, the bottom of said plate comprising means (64) for locking said lug (63) which can be unlocked when said plate (3) and said arm (60) are respectively in their said second positions.
12. Table according to one of claims 8 to 11, CHARACTERIZED BY THE FACT THAT it comprises means (70) for damping the end of the rotation of said arm (60) when it reaches said second position.
13. Table according to one of claims 1 to 12, CHARACTERIZED BY THE FACT THAT said means (4) for mounting said plate (3) pivoting about an axis (5) are constituted by at least two hinges (23, 24 ) with two hinges, each hinge being respectively fixed on said plate and on said frame (1), so that said axis of rotation is located on the sides (25, 25 - 27, 28), respectively of said frame and said plate.
